The manager was great. very helpful. The hotel has it own tuc tuc and will take you and pick you up from Kandy - which is really useful as otherwise it is quite a hard place to find. Our first tuc tuc driver phoned the hotel to find the location (good tip: take phone number with you!). We were given a lovely room. Wifi good.
The shower was cold.
great value, very good stuff - Kumar - very helpful,
The Hills Lodge had excellent facilities, it's distance from the busy centre was a positive as it was peaceful and had great views. The Manager Kumar made our trip to Kandy especially comfortable and went over and above the call of duty, catering for our every need. Thanks for a great time Kumar & The Hills lodge. We cannot recommend this place enough! Great rooms in a great building.
friendly staff specially kumar really helpful house keeper, nice guy with taxi service also he brings food and cleans the place very well. Very good camera man he takes photos if you ask him.
i didnt like that the toilet was common
Very nice place with very helpful and friendly staff! large and clean rooms, nice breakfast.
staff is very kind and helful. his name is Kuma
we don´t received the rooms than we booked, little discount can´t replace that we shared toilet and shower with other room
Everything is good exept the placehold - the hotel is in the top of the hill and it is very hard to find this place - you will need to call to the hotel for the right road
Beautiful views Attentive and helpful staff Nice, clean rooms
Far from Kandy Not many options for food, only hotel restaurant around
View, host and food
Not easy to find
The hotel is in a quiet location, overlooking the Kandy valley. Far away from all the noise and pollution. Our room was spacious, with a good (spring) mattress. The rooftop viewpoint is well worth checking out and the staff, especially Mr. Kumar, is very accommodating.
It's quite a bit out of town, no problem if you come with your own driver or car, but it limits your options a bit. There was no mosquito net in the room and the bathroom was outside the room.
Kumar und Nisantha were excellent host. They took a lot of care of us and made us feel like at home in a country we have never travelled before. The hotel is located on the top of Hanthana mountain and requires a wild Tuktuk ride which we enjoyed each time.Kumar always gave us a special price below those of other Tuktuk drivers. Rooms were spacious and an XXL bed was provided. Best price for quality you will find.
Beautiful retreat after a busy day in Kandy! Great service, lovely and old time style service, so friendly and helpful! delicious food ! great value for money !
Located at the top of the mountain about 20 munites' drive to Kandy city. If you have hired a private car, that will be easier. Chauffer's accommadations are provided. It's very clean with nice mountain view. Breakfast is well prepared with tea, water melon and pineapple. Mr. Kumar is a good helper in advicing the route and recommending activities. Good price for the view and facilities.
Comfort and clean
It's probably the most funny experience of being in Sri Lanka... because of the manager in the hotel. To say he was trying to delight us to say nothing ))) We were offered by everything even we didn't thought! Do we want another room with a better view? Or maybe a coconut? Or maybe show you the best place to photo? Again coconut? This taxi is no good I will ask to provide you with another driver. Maybe coconut? You should book this hotel only because of this guy - friendly, open, conversationalist who loves his city, country and his job! And of course because of the view on the hills, rooms and food. Coconut?
Hard to find because of the location on the top of the hills and closed road (the moment we were). If you are lost - call the manager he will pick you up in downtown
The staff was very understanding after we were very astonished by the distance to come from Kandy to the hotel, and help us to relax. Room is basic. The view is great.
The distance from Kandy city to the hotel is too long : 20 minutes, and the road to access is in a bad bad condition. If you have time in Kandy, you can stay there, but if you are running out of time, too far from Kandy.
Guesthouse is on top of one if the hills around Kandy. Be aware of this, it takes a 20 minute Tuk-Tuk ride into city centre!
Set on the hills above Kandy, it has a lovely view, friendly and helpful staff, and was very quiet and relaxing.
This is not a hotel or lodge, its a guest house located several km from Kandy. The road to the place was terrible. They gave us a room in the basement 2 meters away from the breakfast room (one of the two deluxe rooms!!!). There was no hot water and no towels (we had to ask to get ones). Staying there was a big mistake.
The main staff, a man, did his best to help up. He was very welcoming and even cooked a delicious local meal. We have to give him credit for his kindness. The view was great.
The Lodge is very difficult to find and a bit lost up one of the hills. You cannot access without a chauffeur, on the way in the tuck tuck couldn't go up and we had to walk. The room was clean but we woke up finding worms in our beds!!
Great quiet location, tucked away in the mountain outside of busy Kandy. Easy to reach with tuk tuk, beautiful views on Kandy and super friendly staff
No specific dislikes
Large, spacious room (non A/C). Private hotel feel with only 4-5 rooms in whole place. Most staff very good English and very happy to help with special requests.
Range of breakfast options very limited. Although more than 2yrs old, building still unfinished (e.g. Bedside lamp didn't work because no power point within 10m!)
