Staffs were very professional.friendly and helpful. Very good location. Dont have to worry about noise or anything. Very peaceful.
* We wern't given the room which we booked. I asked for the bath tub room and when we went it wasn't. Asked to change, but couldnt.
Dusty room. TV did not work. Two of the three lamps did not work. Hot water in the tap but not in the shower. Tea and coffee facility in the room incomplete. No management present, only some attendants.
This was a very friendly little boutique hotel. The staff were extremely welcoming and helped us in advance of our arrival with information and an airport pick up. They even prepared a meal for our arrival. Breakfast is fantastic in terms of choice, although they do struggle a bit if there are a number of guests wanting to eat at the same time. The staff are very willing to help with anything you ask of them and give you the feeling that you have friends in a strange city. Taxis and tuk tuks that we requested were always good value and arrived on time.
Although the staff were extremely helpful and friendly we did have to prompt them quite a bit to change sheets and towels etc. It was always done when asked though so not a big deal. Not ideal if you want to be close to the centre. That said, it was only a 20 rupee bus ride or 400 rupee tuk tuk to the Fort and we found a lot of good restaurants and one or two bars in the area.
We loved the decoration, furniture, statues and little courtyard. Sri lankan breakfast was nice too. Kettle and fridge in room. Friendly Staff.
The sheets felt old and didn't look very clean. There was a power socket above the shower with a badly covered wire to the boiler which seemed hazardous. The top floor room was quite noisy because of a pump noise when anyone used the water. The room could have been cleaner and the service more efficient. We were told we'd be given a second bed on the second night but that didn't happen. No bathroom mat and we also had to ask for our towels as none where in the room.
Great location. Well kept. Clean rooms. Excellent water pressure in the showers. Friendly and helpful staff. Good food.
Trouble understanding language sometimes.
The room was great and roomy for the price. The complementary breakfast was huge. The staff helped us organise a reasonably priced taxi to the airport.
Friendly staff, clean and comfy rooms.
The staff of the hotel were very friendly. They treat you like a king. Breakfast is speciale fresh made at the time you want to (the traditional breakfast is worth a try). We had a large room at the top of the building with a also large and very clean bathroom. The look of the hotel is very surprising. More like a visit at someones house than a hotel. It gives you a very welcome and cosey feeling.
When we arrived in the dark we were very surprises about the entry of the hotel. It is in a dark alley. That made we didnt like to go out the first night. De hotel has no bar.
Affordable for an International traveler. And and his Staff are very courteous, they served a delicious (authentic) Sri Lankan breakfast.
The motor which pumps water to the tank makes some noise - hope they fix this problem.
It is a 100 year old hotel. Personalized service was just amazing!!!
I liked everything
We had a fantastic 3-days-stay in the hotel and a superb support service by Arun the manager. The rooms are nice and the furniture is beautiful. The staff gave us a very warm welcome and shelter. We def. recommend this hotel to everyone is looking for an affordable but cosy stay in Colombo.
quiet convinient location great supostive staff nice historic building
Nice service, great room. Really appreciated our stay there!
Located in Colombo 6, so not so central. But for 350 rupees you are at the Fort within 10 min.
Very nice and thematic hotel one hundred years old. Staff is friendly, quality of living is good. Recommended for those who stay in Colombo for 1 or 2 nights.
The staff at Reed were extremely welcoming and helpful with lots of useful tips. They really made our first experience in Sri Lanka one to remember fondly. Also the breakfast was none of the best I have ever had and highly recommend it.
The generator or water pump was quite noisy at night time and kept waking us up.
I liked the very personal attention from the manager of the hotel. He made sure I felt comfortable and was so kind to carry my heavy suitcase upstairs.I also liked his story about the building, incuding explaining me all the art and antique furnitures. It really was so pleasant to meet someone who had a real interest to make the stay as pleasant as possible. It is something that is missing in the bigger hotels...
There was nothing that I did not like.At first I was worried about my heavy suitcase when I noticed the stairs....but without having to ask the problem.was solved within a second..
The Reed was a great find. Stylish and well managed. Arun and his staff were very welcoming and helpful. It is good value for money and as a local resident down south will use it as my new Colombo base and recommend it to my visitors.
It is a bit far from all the places I frequent in Colombo but this is a small inconvenience.
The unique features.
The owner was very kind and friendly. Interior design was very nice
Room could be better. An unexpected visit in the night by the night guy leaved us a little bit confused...
The hotel accessories and the house itself are really nice. The staff is friendly and helpful with good English knowledge. Felt really home there. The Location is good edge of central Colombo.
The breakfast and the cleanliness of the kitchen down could be improved. The rooms are very clean though. The water dispenser in the kitchen was dirty and out of use which was a minus. Altogether they should work to improve some of these small things to give guests are great experience.
The personnel was very friendly and helpful, even arranged a sightseeing itinerary for our one day stay. The room was big and had all we needed. The hotel is quite pretty inside.
The sheets could be much cleaner and there were no toiletries so it's hard to estimate four stars for this hotel.
Hotel was apparently not open so was brought to a different hotel nearby - the facilities and room were definitely a downgrade (although we still paid the same price). We were not warned in advance that hotel would not be open.
Arun and his staff were the best weve dealt with our whole trip, from email contact to arrange our pickup to asissting us with the next part of our trip. The hotel is simply stunning, we had a huge room with gorgeous antiques everywhere. Good breakfast, felt like home and being spoilt. Its a must see and stay.
The only thing Id say was slightly annoying was the water heater kept making a clicking noise but cant fault it other than that. :=)
The staff was super friendly and helped us with everything! We felt us very welcome. Good Sri Lankan breakfast, nicely decorated building (although rooms are a bitt small).
Nothing really to see in the close neighbourhood (except good Indian restaurant). 20 min with tuk-tuk to closest sights.
