Near airport, great value for your money. Staff was very pleasant and eager to please.

Problems with opening entrance gates as the owner has the only key and you need to either buzz them or ring the bell. They should invest in more advanced solution E.G. card door, multiple keys etc.

Well appointed rooms and very comfortable beds and pillows and very clean. Good airconditioning also.

Quiet guest house in reasonable proximity to Colombo airport

Problem finding the place. We had printed directions but could not communicate with tuk-tuk driver. He tried ringing guest house but was on answerphone for unknown reasons. Spent 20 mins driving around before we found it.

I so wished I had left Villa Extra and found somewhere else to stay. Having given my credit card details to secure the reservation I was informed that Hans, the owner would in fact charge me if I left, despite my clear unhappiness. I was in Sri Lanka for my second visit and was meeting my God Daughter and her travelling companion between their time in India and Thailand. We only had 4 days together and I had meticulously planned the time. This nights accommodation was the only one I had booked outside of a brilliantly organised tour with Reddot. In contrast to the warmth and friendliness we had encountered everywhere, we were greeted by the owners who were blunt and discourteous towards my driver who was trying to manoeuvre in a very tight narrow lane. My driver was an intelligent, experienced, ‘gentle’man who had looked after us with care and attention to detail, he was clearly concerned as he said his goodbyes. I introduced myself to the owners and said the girls weren’t with me overnight but would be leaving for the airport around 10pm. We were then ‘lectured’ to by the owners. I was told the girls would not be able to use my room to ‘freshen up’ on the basis that previous guests had done this and it was just not acceptable. We were told that the girls could pay for use of a hotel pool across the road, (a cold, external shower). I would have been more than happy to pay an additional charge to cover the cost of any extra laundry etc but this was not offered. I later commented that I this would have been reasonable suggestion, the response was ‘that if I had have suggested it, we could have negotiated a price’. Sri Lanka is full of people who want to welcome guests to their beautiful home. Everyone we met was courteous, warm and respectful. The two owners at Villa Extra were the antithesis of this. I felt unwelcome and the suggestion that I would have exploited their facilities was rude, disrespectful and totally out of order.

Welcoming, homely, comfortable.

Only one bedside table, made it hard for other person to put glass of water, clock. Two shown in picture. Also, very close to airport and so convenient to early flights but no provision made for visitors to make own cup of tea or coffee before leaving, even though breakfast is included in the rate. Would be very easy to have a kettle and cups in general living area for very little expense. Would create a much better impression as it is bleak leaving the house without a drink and having to wait in airport for quite a while before access to hot drinks.

Breakfast was very good.

The absence of a bed cover (Duvet). Not used to sleeping with a sheet for cover.

Hans(the owner) and his family provided us with the best service and hospitality. The rooms are air-conditioned and very clean. We had an amazing traditional Sri_lankan dinner cooked by the owner. It was delicious. It was our first accommodation in Sri Lanka and we were lucky to stay at Villa Extra! Other plus is a good location near nice restaurants and the beach

There was nothing we didnt like

The building, rooms and furniture appear to be very new and the room could be compared with a good hotel room. It is very clean, comfortable and quiet villa close to Lewis place. From my perspective, it is a perfect place for travelers who would like to stay at a couple of days in Negombo.

All rooms are directly linked to the main entrance hall, noise at the entrance could easily be disturbing in the middle of the night. The door bell is an example of such disturbance.

Friendly owner and staff.

Location - The airport is close by and you can reach it within 30 minutes. Owners very kind and friendly. Two white rabbits running around give the place a good familiar feeling.

The usual noise of Sri Lanka coming from the outside.

Very nice housekeepers. We were there for a one day when arrived to Sri-Lanka. The house is quite new, very clean and nice. Good quality materials, english architecture. Enough far away from the road - low noise. And quite low price. In one minute there is a beach.

A bit difficult to find it. And to get inside because the door is usually closed and the owners do not hear well when one calls the door.

Negombo is an ugly place. Long black hair on the bathroom floor was disgusting.

The rooms were large and quiet. Our first room had a large jacuzzi tub.The owner's daughter was friendly and helpfful. Breakfast was served daily and served on the patio or lounge area.

The first room's water heater wasn't working. We moved to another room which was fine.

Location is fine. Villa is a private home converted to a guest house. For a triple room, the price was on a higher side, though the rooms were spacious. Bathroom was clean.

Breakfast had limited choice. Also we had to wait for morning Tea till after 8:30am, as that's the time breakfast is served :( Also please remember that the hotel doesn't provide any toiletries (was strange considering the price I paid). Also the Credit card machine did not work, so I had to pay cash.

no buzzer to get in and you had to shout for people to open the front door. Also you had to come back by a certain time (too early if you are on holiday)......breakfast was only available at a certain time (after 8.30AM)....

Gps coords: spot on, location: good for airport, Negombo beach is bad in comparison to other rooms: perfect summary: One of the best relations quality/price I've seen in Sri Lanka (65$/night double with ac and breakfast). This hotel is being run by a friendly German-Sri Lankan and you can see the 'ordnung must sein' approach in the whole establishment - very well detailed and finished interiors, good European quality of furniture and equipment and very spacious rooms. If it was a hotel it would be a solid 4 star (btw it's better quality than the neighbouring Jetwing Pavilions). Perfect place to get your final ayurveda massage in Negombo and then head to the airport, which is around 20 minutes drive from the villa.

My impression is that the staff might be under too much pressure from the owner to be ideal which makes them a bit tense - happy and relaxed staff would make this place perfect.

It was clean and comfortable. The owner cooked me 2 delicious sri lankan meals on the 2 evenings I was there. She also arranged a lagoon wildlife tour for me at short notice. I was well looked after!

There was nothing I disliked. The only hiccup was the taxi taking me to Colombo - he couldn't find the guest house and was half an hour late. It wasn't a problem for me but if I'd been going to the airport it might have been. I'm not sure what the problem was there, as there is a big 'Villa Extra' sign at the end of the lane on the main road. Coming from the airport my taxi went straight there with no problem.

The owner manager is particulary welcoming and helpful. New room are spacious and modern look.

Just had a lovley stay at Villa Extra. Thivi and her daughter Nelo couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, giving helpful advice and information about the new country you find yourself in, as well as providing nice breakfasts and even emergency late night snacks! A great first stop off point when you arrive in Sri Lanka, home from home. You can use the luxury beachside pool facilities at a nearby hotel for 750 rupees, also good choice of restaurants nearby.

Calm place yet right down town Negombo. Attentive statf. Clean room. Near airport. Nice patio.

Place was a bit hidden: hard to find.

The room was large and clean. Pleasant garden. The owners were nice and friendly.

This guest house is really a converted family home located up a narrow lane surrounded by a large garden wall with a big metal door bolted from the inside. Residents have to ring a bell on the outside which they can not hear, then wait in the lane and hope someone comes to unbolt the big metal door to let them in and you are asked to be inside by 10:30pm. You have to quote a time for breakfast. It is therefore unsuitable for those who like the flexibility to come and go as they please. There is no tv or fridge in the room although there is a tv lounge. For a few dollars more you can book into a 4 star hotel right on the beach with swimming pool etc, restaurant & bar, full facilities in your room where you can come and go as you please and have a full choice of buffet breakfast whilst breakfast at this hotel consists of 2 eggs, toast, orange juice and tea or coffee.

I was travelling alone on my first visit to Sri Lanka. The staff could not have bee more friendly and helpful. I felt I was in a family home rather than a hotel. The hotel is pretty basic but very clean and comfortable. Villa Extra staff contributed to making my visit very memorable.

It would have been perfect if they could offer an optional simple evening meal if requested in advance.
