Location was excellent. Next door to Charlie's restaurant which was great. Just off the main shopping street. Very central! Friendly, helpful staff who all spoke very good English. Basic but very clean rooms, free wifi and good basic breakfast.

Kaunas in general only seems to function Thursday to Saturday! Bear this in mind if you travel!

Rooms are just great, all the facilities needed are provided. Wifi works excellent. Breakfasts are gorgeous!

Wonderful location in city center. Wonderful staff. Wonderful hotel history. Good guarded parking. Clean and warm (in cold Lithuanian winter) rooms. Reasonable price. What else you need for short staying in Kaunas

Great location & price. A comfortable hotel in the old traditional style. Bedroom was refurbished and had flat screen tv. Bathroom had a very good wet-room style shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the receptionists spoke excellent English. Stayed here twice and will always choose the Metropolis when visiting Kaunas.

Bathroom basins were rather small.

a need of room renovation

the hotel is in an art deco building which was erected in the golden era of kaunas in mid/end 1900, when the town was the capital of lithuania. it's beautiful art deco interior decor has amazingly survived nazi occupation and soviet times and has recently been refurbished with care. we did like the design of the bathrooms which were tastefully refurbished in line with the decor of the hotel. we also liked the balcony overlooking a pedestrianised street. the hotel is right in the centre, off the main shopping street (pedestrianised, no cars) and close to the ciurlionis art museum and the cathedral. the breakfast is excellent with a great choice of lithuanian, continental and english style foods. we particularly loved the lithuaninan traditional things, superb quality herrings, lovely single cream, brilliant gherkins, tasty caraway potatoes and ab fab lithuanian bread. the breakfast lady was very kind and friendly and so were the staff at reception. we recommend to visit the sugihara museum, a very impressive, most unusual place of history - where a brave japanese ambassador rescued the lifes of 6000 lithuanian and polish jews by getting them out of lithuania before nazi occupation in 1941, issuing japanese transit visas to get them to the island of curacao via the russian port vladivostok. the museum is a real find - reception at the hotel can help you with directions, it is only 15 minutes walk from the hotel but a bit hidden away. we highly recommend metropolis hotel. it is full of character, good value for money, very friendly and has an absolutely wonderful breakfast.

We only stayed for one night. It was clean and comfortable

No orange juice during breakfast and not so much choice but it was fine for a short stay.

The friendly staff (they let me check in earlier), the awesome breakfast, the location (centrally located, half the way between old town and the railway station), the price.

The lack of a lift. Beware if you are carrying heavy luggage, you might have to climb two floors...

Have stayed there before so I know I will be satisfied, close to everything, basic and friendly and an excellent location.

Lovely old hotel, great old rotating wooden door and entrance hall with stained glass on the stairs. Rooms were basic, but large and clean. Breakfast was good The location was brilliant for wandering round the shops Staff were friendly and helpful The price, really really good value for money!

It was a little noisey being on the main pedestrian road, but we were there in Saturday, sure it is quieter other days

The location of the hotel was excellent. Reception staff friendly and very helpful. Room spacious, comfortable and clean throughout stay. Bathroom excellent and shower great. We would stay here again and would recommend the hotel and Kaunas to our friends. We loved Lithuania!

The only criticism is that the bar/cafe was not well stocked (only one beer available when we wanted it) and although was advertised as open until 11pm it never was.

We like Metropolis very mutch, and it was second time in they this year.

Only breakfust can be litel beter. My husband dont eat red meat...maybe more chickend things for breakfurst. But we are caming a gain!!!
