In the sixties this probably was a very good and luxury hotel. In the meantime.... time stood still :) The awful carpet with stains , the small bed rooms, the noise (bad isolation)....

Upon arriving at the airport I was a little annoyed that we had to call for our shuttle even though we had already reserved it that day and given all the flight info. But the personnel were very helpful in loading our bags and infant in the van. The van is very well marked with the name of the hotel on the side in case anyone is wondering. The hotel location is excellent being right across from the bus station. We got a €4 day bus pass and used it to check out Lux Center and the American Military Cemetery. Not bad considering the amount and length of travel we had. The room itself was not all that impressive considering the amount I paid. But the mini fridge was a bonus (for infant food, etc) and the separate toilet from the shower/bath was nice. The breakfast was €18 a person which was very expensive considering the amount, or lack thereof that's offered. You're better off walking about a block to McDonald's for a breakfast sandwich or something. There is ample food eateries in the area that are an excellent alternative. We weren't able to get the shuttle back (needs to be reserved in advanced) but you can take the #16 (I believe) bus to the airport for €1,50 per person. Takes about 20 min. Overall we had a nice short stay (3 day 2 nights) at the Mercure. Bed was nice, room was clean, wifi decent, staff very helpful.

We liked the service of the front office.Especially Natalia gave us very good tips, but the other staff was also very professional. We had a room opposite the Railway Station and Bus Station and it was very very noisy so we didnt sleep well. People outside were aggressive and very noicy. Also the bedding was too hot for Summer. The second night we slept only under the bed linens but around 4 a.m we felt cold so we had to put on the winter linnen. I suggest you offer a summer blanket. I work for the Airline Industry and because of forementioned reasons I will not recommend this hotel to clients.

Hotel staff especially in reception were so kind and helpful. Hotel and the room was a bit old fashioned but size of the room, equipment and cleanliness was perfect. Breakfast was very good. Free shuttle and free Wi-Fi was a plus also. Hotel is just accross the Luxembourg main train station and bus hub which makes you to travel within or out of the city easily. Two small elevators was inadequate for this size of a hotel. I stayed in 7th floor and when I quit waiting for the elevator and used the stairs in the morning, a lot of people who were intending to check-out from the hotel were waiting for the elevator on each floor with their luggages. Most probably their elevator expectancy lasted more than 15 minutes.

The hotel spreads the athmosphere of a time-worn old Grand Hotel and offers lots of space (large rooms, floors, restaurant, ...) The sanitary installations are very clean but they are also very old and need to be renewed (tiles with cracks, water in the douche cabin that doesn't drain because of shifted tiles)

Too expensive for what it offers, ant a rate of 180€ per night, or more, I'd expect a bit more service. Breakfast was not included, and at 18€ a bit pricey.

very good breakfast + good location near the rail way s tation the room was very small. and unlike during the reservation I did not receive a double bed , even though there was almost no occupancy in the hotel during my stay. the bathroom was too small and the blankets were not completely clean. the carpet in the room was originally red, but with many stains.
