The location couldn't be better. The hotel is newly-renovated and everything is well-done. The place is clean, neat, comfortable and warm; friendly staff, great breakfast. We loved it.
You wouldn't expect large rooms in Riga old town ;)
The location is great, in the old town (5 min walking to the main touristic attractions), the staff is very nice and polite, and helped us with directions and train timetables, and the hotel is comfortable, new and clean. We got an offer through booking and the price was fantastic
Location perfect for old town Riga, very new and clean throughout. Staff were pleasant, professional and helpful. Price was reasonable compared to other bigger hotels in area.
Trams clattering past all night outside, but I guess you will get that anywhere so close to the centre of Riga, and you could always ask for a room on the other side of building if it really bothers.
Newly refurnished, clean, localisation.
Size of the room, no wardrobe.
Very good location, clean rooms, friendly staff, rich breakfast. Wi-fi is accessible all over the hotel.
Part of the rooms are facing the boulevard with trams and it becomes a bit noisy early in the morning.
Excellent location right on the edge of the old city. Amazingly quiet despite trams stopping outside.
Very close to the city centre, very clean and neat and with helpful and friendly staff. When I saw my safe-box was not working, they changed it in the next 10min. Also good sound proofing. I would recommend it. Nice breakfast buffet, you could find many local products.
Don't forget your window open, cause you'll spend the rest of the night chasing mosquitos (there is a park with a river/lake just opposite the street!)
I so much enjoyed my stay at Astor Riga Hotel. Perfect location for me as I wanted to combine business and also some sightseeing. Cozy room with Park view and modern flat smart TV. Internet connection was fast and for free. The staff is very friendly and helpful and breakfast was very rich and tasty. I will definitely return to this hotel on my next trip to Riga.
Great locatin, couldn't ask for more! Hotel is new and very clean. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast buffet was rich and impressive! Great value for money!!
breakfast in the Old Town
receptionist worked very slowly, we have to wait 20 minut unitl she started to care about us
A little more than I wanted to spend, but the room was pretty good. A very comfortable bed and I slept well. The bathtub was huge and wonderful. Breakfast was very good. Location was excellent.
The maid really did a terrible job cleaning. She cleaned the floor and made the bed, and not much else. Obvious garbage was not picked up, towels were not hung up, etc. If this was only a 3 star I guess that would be fine, but that is not ok for a 4 star. Warning: Taxis in Riga - only use the Red taxis (cheapest) or the Green ones (might stick you with a surcharge if you call them). The other taxis will seriously Rip You Off!! One White taxi charged me 8 Euros to go literally 4 blocks (I was in a rush to catch a train). I was warned about this, so I am here to tell you It's True.
very well breakfast and close to old town.
Nice modern rooms in historic building. Great breakfast. Hotel is very close to Dome Square.
Tram is too close to hotel, when it goes by you will wake up if you were sleeping.
nice place nice service
Close to main attractions, clean, newly refurbished, good breakfast
Noisy street, very small rooms, small bed
friendly helpful staff, everything clean and problem free, best location possible . . .
Rooms are clean and Wifi is excellent in every corner of the hotel building
We were given a very noisy corner room where one of the tiny windows would not close.. The breakfast did not feature a good choice of food that you would otherwise expect from a 4* hotel
Location and service
Room size French type
- bed very comfortable - quiet and clean room - nice bathroom - great location - good breakfast
- When I checked in (very late) I was told I had been upgraded. I found myself in a TINY, dark room at the back of the hotel. No room to swing even a mouse (forget the cat). If this was an "upgrade", I dread to imagine what the non-upgraded room was like. I'm sure I was bumped (being a solo woman) to their worst room. At $130/night, I was not impressed.
Excellent location. A lot of attractions close by. Central railwaystation is also very close. The room was in perfect condition. The air conditioning in the room also worked without the keycard electricity (could be left on while away).
The half board menu consists of 3 different dishes for appetizers, main dishes and desserts which of two could be picked. While the food was good, I would've preferred variety (though this may not matter to a person staying only 1 night). The breakfast buffet should include a wider variety of fresh vegetables and fruits. Sound proofing was lacking - or the person upstairs of our room was very loud.
The location, the breakfast
Staff at the reception extremely rude
The location was really convenient as it was just opposite a park and old town on the other side. We felt comfortable and enjoyed the stay.
When making a reservation like 2-3 weeks in advance, I specifically listed 1-2 requirements for the stay (like having a bath rather than a shower in the room and have a room on one of top floors) which we had issues with upon arrival (with the reception lady trying to be nice about it but didnt quite work with expression "I cant tell now other guests to leave" :) not very professional despite smiling. If a reservation is made few weeks in advance, it is not that hard from resource management perspective to make sure these requirements are met. At the end one out of two preferences were met.
Fabulous location, parking was not too far away. Lovely breakfast.
