Bauska has a few old houses in the center and a castle that is worth visiting, otherwise the small town is of a need of renovations. And the heavy truck traffic through the little town is a desaster! However, Bauska is an excellent location to visit the phantastic castle of Rundäle, the Versailles of Latvia, and that visit requires almost a full day, so plan at least two nights in Bauska

Driving some 12 kms from Bauska the main highway to Lithuania you will see on the left side Virtsu petrol station. Just next you will see roadside funny cafe (Pit Stop kafejnica) made of wood. The owners of the cafe have in the back the separate house you will stay. Downstairs there are tables to eat and floor to dance, upstairs there are big rooms to sleep. I spent the night in the bed 2,5 by 3 m! The wifi is reliable and good breakfast is included.

Could recommend this hotel for tall people, because beds indeed were big. Even though hotel is located in a quiet place further away from highway, it was easy to find thanks to the illuminated sign placed on a high pole.
