Their was only one toilet and 2 showers per floor (of about 30 people) with no extra basin other than the one in the toilet. The common area was tiny with a very small extremely dirty kitchen. The room was very dark and uninviting. There were always 2 or 3 creepy guys sitting there who I think worked there but wasn't sure. They never talked to you or even smiled. I never felt comfortable sitting there. There are so many nicer hostels in Riga - stay at one of them - the old town is tiny so it's easy to walk to any of them.
The only good thing about this hostel was the location.
The beds were awful, the room was noisy, you could hear everything from the rooms next to you, the toilet and shower weren't cleaned in the four days we were there, the only sink was in the kitchen area where also the dishes of other guests were.
Central location Fantastic value for money Staff were very helpful
The front desk girl was nice and spoke good English
The facilities are a real nightmare As the shared bathrooms uptairs has no sink, after using the toilet you have to wash your hands in the kitchen, where usually there dishes left by the guests. The beds are extremely uncomfortable, to put it mildly. We were planning to stay 3 nights, but we stayed only one. We moved to a wonderful apartment nearby and paying even less.
Disliked the kitchen and lack of heating in November.
LOCATION, Knowledge of Staff, etc
Computer was like a dial up. Never could log on,
location friendly staff able to leave baggage under quidance after checkout
Furniture so last season ;) Beds were really sofas -not too comfy but ok
- location (city centre) - pleasant atmosphere
- Bed - no sink in bathroom - we were not informed about breakfast time and therefore we missed it, discussion about getting back breakfast money - no reception personnel in the morning - the adress provided by booking.com was not correct
Perfect location (including LIDO at the corner). Friendly staff.
Some little problems with shower. Only one working lightbulb in the room (three others didn't work, we asked to replace them, but the request wasn't successful).
Clean, spacious, comfortable apartment right in the centre of the city.
Convenientely located in old town.
Was misled about the type of room booked. Pictures showed a very different kind of room. Bottom sheet barely covered mattress. There was one dim ceiling light far from bwd and no reading light. Showers were primitive and dirty and barely worked.
In the heart of Riga's old town. Mother and daughter run the business and they are very nice.
Location in one of the central squares in the old town.
That the rooms didn't have real walls. The owners have tried to create separate rooms using everything from folding walls, mirrors, loose doors and cloths, so you could look into the other rooms. But worst of all sound-wise, it was like you were in the same room! The last people to get home from town was around 3 A.M. and the first to get up and have breakfast (while talking in normal voices) was 6 A.M. Only some of the rooms had windows, and our first room was above the breakfast room and looked like that it used to be a hang-out room with a couple of bed thrown in. The first bed I got was a couch you normally only only in emergency might let someone sleep on, since there was big dips and it wasn't horizontal. The next bed was 1x1m pieces of foam held together by stretch sheet. When you sat on it it compress to 1/3 of the thickness, and you ended up lying very badly. When we complaint enough they transfered us to a different location they had in the old town, which was much nicer. However that also had several rooms with no windows, which I consider claustrophobic.
The hostel is made in such a bad way, you cannot sleep properly: -Walls are SO TINY that you are necessarily awaken by people discussing. -Public WCs and bathrooms are right next to the rooms. -The staff is not able to silence people. At 5a.m people were shouting in the hostel, the staff did not do anything. -Finally, the room and the showers were dirty.
Location was great and the staff was friendly.
The noise from the street kept me awake.
Great hostel in wonderful just miracle place
There was no soap in the bathroom.
I was travelling with my 9 year old daughter & we got a very nice and calm rooftop room in the northern part of the old town:) very friendly owners & staff!
The room had everything we needed. Friendly staff.
The floor was filthy.
Stayed here for the weekend for my mates stag do. Location was second to none in the heart of old town Riga. Everything withing walking distance and our rooms were at the top of the hostel meaning it was quiet and most of all private. Had our own bathroom and the shower pressure was excellent.
Beds were a little uncomfortable but didn't make too much difference as we weren't there to sleep in!
helpful and easy-going staff, clean rooms, new furniture
Location and price and Staff was awesoooome :)
Breakfast was not so good :/
Best location. The hostel is very clean and the staff is Super.
