I loved the room decoration. Beds were also very comfortable. Hotel personnel was great. Location could not be better in the heart of the old city.
Unfortunately, there is no lobby/bar where you can have drinks.
Quirky Delightful receptionists
The location is really excellent, right in the center of the Old Town, close to most of the sights, nice bars and restaurants. The staff is very nice as well. The hotel is charming.
Its greatest advantage is also its greatest disadvantage:being so central makes it a bit noisy at night. Also, I like to sleep with blinds, and there were none in our room.
We actually had no chance to stay in this hotel as they explained us that the room was flooded. Since they offered us a room in the hotel next to the them and covered the difference in price, we were happy and did not bother investigating whether the lady at reception told us the truth or they actually overbooked. We chose it for the location, which is great if you do not mind noise from people enjoying themselves in Riga at night.
Very cosy atmosphere, Friendly and helpful staff, Good facilities, Very affordable price, Very homely room, Bed, pillows very clean and fresh, Best possible breakfast, very tasty and a wide range of food to chose from. Perfect location, very easy to get anywhere.
If the weather is hot, the room gets even hotter. No real chance to open windows during the night because of sounds from outside. No mirror in the room. Not enough space where to put all belongings. Poor internet connection.
The hotel is located in the old town, very close to everything. Staff were perfect! Very welcoming, eager to help. Room was clean. Breakfast was in a different location, but very good.
- It was tooo noisy. The room has poor isolation from the street. It is a very busy street in the evening and at night - music on, people are talking, running. Could not sleep until 3 am. - We slept with windows closed (because of noise and mosquitoes) so there was no air to breath and was quite hot since there is no air conditioning (it was July). - Wifi was not working. I would not stay at this place again. For this money it is possible to book smth much better in Riga. Sorry for this review, the lady at the reception was really nice!
Wi-fi was fine. The staff very helpful. Cosy, homelike atmosphere.
Beds making noise. Not very good air conditioning. Would like to have hills in the bathroom.
Friendly staff and good location
Cold shower, spotty Internet and hectic mediocre breakfast at locatin around the corner
Location in the heart of the old Town. Real vibe to the place , steeped in History very quirky and simple Warm, comfortable and spotlessly clean Great value open your bedroom shutters and close your eyes ! Restaurant next door superb food well presented and delicious
Breakfast arrangement's in adjacent hotel, getting timings wrong quite manic.
located in the heart of the old city
- small and uncomfortable room - no internet - no credit cards - breakfast in another overcrowded place - too expensive for what it offers
Unbeatable location Great service
the location the style
Riga is a city full of life and noise. Amateur-musicians playing guitar and shouting until 6-7 in the weekends right outside. Room-temperature made us not want to close the windows. A silent air-con would be preferred.
The individuality of the venue, interesting and quirky! Such a change from bland run of the mill places!
The stairs but accept they're a part of the charm.....fortunately I travel light these days.
The room was dark snd quite dingy. The main problem was that the receptionist was unable to unlock the front door when we wanted to go out for dinner. She said the fittings were old and it had happened before. It took her 35 minutes to finally open the door. We asked where the fire exit was and were told there wasn't one. We decided to move hotels following this after having explained that this was surely illegal .
Quirky charming old building in great lokation. Room a bit on small side but plenthy of character. The best staff ever ! Excellent breakfast. Definitely would recomend.
There was not mirror part of shower room.
The room was too small.
It was a bit noisy during the night, but tot be expected in such a central location.
Excellent location, quaint stylings
Next to a pedestrian thoroughfare, so a bit noisy.
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, interesting building, lovely shower curtain:)
Hair dryer, little cold, would have liked to have a chair in the room.
The Hotel is very nice in an old building. It is centraly located in the old town. Very good orice. The room is nice.
The room was a little cold cause to the cold winter/old building
Location is wonderful - just in front of St. Peters Church. Comfortable atmosphere. Hotel receptionist was very nice to us.
perfect location, charming hotel, staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, thank you for a wonderful weekend away!
We loved the breakfast, the hotel was designed beautifuly and well located.
The was no lounge or area to relax outside the rooms.
This is a very small hotel - 9 rooms on 2 floors. I got a feeling of being in a family run inn, or a guesthouse, not like in a hotel, but it is really very nice. Amazing XV century building. Minimal but very stylish decore in the room. Very comfortable bed, clean bathroom, hot water. The rooms are quiet cold, but there are electric heaters. Nice view to the churches and square from the windows.Great breakfast in the restaurant of the adjusting hotel - full and variable buffet in the rooms decorated in art deco style. The staff is very friendly, smiling and and trying to help.Very nice choice for that money if you are not bothered by noise from the outside, since in the center of Riga's old city that is absolutely unavoidable. We'd like to return here on our next stay in Riga.
All what is written here are just very minor things, but I think that there improval would greatly change the full impression of the hotel: 1) Renovation of the reception desk would do a lot. It it the first thing you see when you come, and investing some money in that place to bring it up to the rest of the hotel would be perfect. Some sort of the uniform would really higher up the rank of the place. 2) On booking it says that the hotel doesn't offer parking, which is true, so I don't complain. I asked about the information paid or free parking for 3 days in the old city by email and in person, the staff really tried to help and send me a map of so-called free parkings, but the parkings they indicated were either locked or didn't exist. Parking is a bit odd in Riga now - there is Europark, with signs that tell what to pay for, but you can pay either with lats or by latvian phone (not by credit card). There are also "private" parking territories where you can leave a car for hours or days and pay cash to the staff. There is time when parking is free on Europark - at night and on Sundays, but it does not work in some parking zones. Plus there are parkings with no signs that you have to pay, but it is unclear if they are free or not and noone around seems to know this exactly. I guess, the issue will be clarified soon by the Riga's authorities, untill now I'd suggest to park around but not exactly in the old city. As for the hotel: it would be really cool if they could offer paid parking in the adjusting squares (there are places around where parking exists) or if that is impossible, then collect and give up-to-date information. 3) We paid cash on the first night for 3 nights, but when we left, the hotel attempted to take the money from my card. For coinsidence the sum left on the card was smaller than needed, so the payment didn't go through, and that didn't cause us any problems.
The hotel was in an excellent location within the old town. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful, and spoke near-fluent English. Breakfast was an extensive, tasty buffet, with warm options. Would love to come back here again.
Very thin wall between the bedroom and bathroom!
