City Hotel Teater is in a beautiful Art Nouveau building in a vibrant cultural and business part of Riga center.
Score from 675 reviews Very good
The hotel is nothing special, but it does give you rather good value for money compared to its competition, even compared to most hostels. The location is not exactly central, but to us it was at perfect walking distance from the city centre and there are also good public transport connections nearby if you do not enjoy walking. The facilities in the room are up to par to what you pay for and the beds are of ok quality. I wouldn't object staying there a next time, as the staff is friendly and the rooms spacious.
The shower holder was broken, but that seems to be obligatory in most Riga hotels. Otherwise, nothing to complain about at this price range.
- Friendly stuff - Comfortable room - Clean - Good pay breakfast
- More than 15 minutes walk from the center
New and very clean rooms. Safety parking. Outside is looking relatively old, but once inside the room everything changes.
Breakfast was extra costing €4 per person but it was very good. It is not a buffet style, you have juice and coffee and then they bring you bread and a plate with cheese, butter, salami and cucumber. Then they offer a choice of a warm plate - you can choose from eggs, omelette with bacon, pancakes with jam or porridge. The food in the restaurant is very good. Good value for money.
Location is not nice although it is about 20 minutes walk from town.
Room was very clean, silent and Kitchen had very good facilities. Bed was very comfortable. And there were a garden among the hotel. Everything was good except the distance.
It was far away from the Old City and City Centre. Arriving the Old City takes 10 minutes by Bus, and 50 minutes on foot. And there were a lot of drunks on the street of Hotel after 6 pm. They never attack or say to us but they may be dangerous.
Hotel par was closed all weekend
We liked the location away from the hubbub of the Old Town. You get a better feel for how the normal people live and the prices are commensurate with the location. The staff was great. And there is a resonably priced nice restaurant on location. There is also a nice eating area in the courtyard. The room with a kitchenette was actually a one bedroom apartment with sofa and kitchen.
Not so far from old town (30 min. of easy walk). There are a lot of beautiful parks and cheap shops (and LIDO too) near the hotel. Clear hotel, for this price. There was a little bit dusty on the tables, but in general it was really clean two rooms. Very comfortable beds, two pillows for each room (for one person), simple but useful furniture. I was really impressed in availability of towels, body gels and shampoo and their quality :) Chance to eat breakfast for 4 euro. (but in honest we eat in LIDO so i can't say anything about quality of the food in hotel). Really positive guys in reception. Always smile and explain everything that we ask about town and accomodation. They gave us really useful map of the town and the password for wi-fi BEFORE we asked about it.
At the night on the nearest streets there were a lot of drunk young people, so it was really scary path to the hotel after 22:00 o'lock. There are a lot of destroyed old wooden buildings and dark corners where this guys could make their criminal things. But this is not a fault of the hotel - i can't say that this is a minus of the hotel. So... just we were unlucky to meet such people in the really big quantity on the nearest streets (maybe we chosen a wrong way to come back at the hotel).
Normal apartement for this money.
It was little far from centre and old town. Kitchen was too small and there were not enough cups and plates for 10 persons.
Wi-Fi not working
Good value for money
A good place for reasonable price
A bit far from the city center and the train station. A bad smell in the bathroom from the old pipes.
Value for money
Corridor is too dark. I have no specific negative point other than shown above, but many things can be improved.
Very good value for money.
You gotta work on your Internet connection
Price and quality ratio
the cozy yard for parking, the friendly stuff
The room was very comfortable, english-speaking stuff. good breakfast.
The room wasn`t clean enough.
It very nice to have a kitchenette in the room with kettle & other basic facilities. It was actually more of an apartment than a hotel room. The hotel is located rather close to the city center (about 15-20 minutes walk).
The district is a little gloomy, I wouldn't recommend going out after 7pm. There was an induction cooker, but no microwave oven - for the hotel conditions it would be better to have the latter rather than the former. The parking is rather tight, about 5-6 cars only, so during high season there may be no places.
