I liked it was a bit out of town, but not too far. The breakfast was good enough. We had all we needed - bed, small refrigerator, bathroom with towels. There was always someone at the reception.
The madras on the bed had hard strings that hurt to sleep on (they need a top madras for it). The bed linen was to small for the madras, so it curled into the middle, when you lay on the bed. The heating was way too hot, even though we tried to regulate the radiator. They came in every other day, at pulled the small bed linen to the edges of the madras, but they forgot to give us more toilet paper, so we had to go ask for that ourselves. Out room was by the stairs on the ground level, and we could hear every thing going on due to echo.
Very good value for money deal. Paying 100 Lt for a double room I didn't expect much. The room was very good, proper and very diverse breakfast, nice and helpful staff.
Wide bed, generous breakfeast, cheap price
Bad wifi signal in upper floors, soft bed, our table was broken
Laziness of personnell; irregular of changing towels, providing washing utilities and bedsheets
cosy hotel, room was spacy and clean.
location is too far from old town to walk, poor breakfast
The staff was very professional and kind.
The bedroom needed a small desk. There was plenty of room for a desk. No elevator.
I stayed there twice over two separate weekends. I asked to reserve space at their parking lot. They didn't do that. The first time I got a room right next to the reception desk. It was quite noisy. Furthermore, a TV was screaming past midnight. I came out to ask the receptionist about it, and found that it was, in fact, the receptionist himself who had the TV working. I asked him to lower the volume. He did, but it was still loud enough to hear in my room. Plus the bed was caved in. The second time I came in, they apologized and told me that they had a system crash that morning, due to which they somehow overbooked the hotel, but they actually rebooked me to another hotel next door, same price. Said the other hotel was called "Martin" (I asked to confirm the name.) Following their directions, it took me a while to find that second hotel, because it was actually called "A1", not "Martin". How did A1 become Martin? Incidentally, A1 is much better than Rafael.
A very basic hotel about 20 minute walk from Old Town. Secure parking on site.
Plumbing needs looking at. Drains clogged. Bath towel had holes in it. Breakfast only average and nowhere near enough seating space.
Good and helpful reception staff, simple but good breakfast, nice hotel newly refurbished.
No air con or fan (even if on the hotel description it says it is provided), our room was on a noisy street, poor WIFI connection in the room, toilet wasn't completely flushed when we first got into the room - and the flush was not working properly.
Poor drainage in bowl as well as in shower. Grey bad linnen. Lack of maintenance in room.
Wifi ok, location and price ok
room was not cleaned and in the shower cabin water did not go down correctly
Clean and simple room. Own parking.
Away from the old town.
Safe and cheap parking in the inner yard (5 EUR). Clean and comfortable rooms, reasonable price for the location. The breakfast was OK for the price although coffee machine didn't work.
The rooms were clean although at first we were given the key of the room which wasn't prepared and untidy. The staff solved the problem quickly.
Room needs hard cleaning!
Very unfriendly guy on the reception: we came to the hotel at 13.00, the boy said that we can check-in only at 14.00 because the room is not ready and that the hotel haven't received our payment. After providing him with sms from my bank with payment, he back with key from our room. Breakfast was included in our room rate, but it began at 8.30. Our check-out was at 7.30 and we asked about cup of coffee, guy said that it's possible only for additional payment. Also he doesn't speak English at all. Never will stay at this hotel again.
Location and parking availability, staff is friendly but unprofessional
Cleanliness, level of service, room quality
- generally, it's a budget B&B quite close to centre (1,5-2 km) - it could be better (3 stars??? come on!), but it's not so very bad;) - rather clean, but not super-clean - we visited Riga in early April, it was quite cold (during day 5-8 C), and the central heating was all the time on, and room was warm - also no problem with hot water - useful -fridge in the room (terribly noisy, though)
- room on the groud floor (behind reception desk) was VERY noisy, especially in the early morning (breakfast preparation and staff loud talks), probably in high season also in the night... - poor breakfast (also service does not pay attention to refill empty plates or bring milk-so you can have cereals, but no milk to add:)) - staff hardly speaks English (the girl was ok, boys - sign language), good that we didn't ask anything special:) - no remote control for TV (sorry, but we have more TV sets than remotes, and they are all in use LOL) -actually that was quite funny, and after all we just wanted some music, which mobile phone can supply:)
nothing - worst place ever. totally not recommendable.
We had three double rooms, but only could use one bathroom. One had no warm water and the other was fully covered with mildew. The mildew resulted from a leaky bathtub, so the water runs into the walls, floor, etc. The rooms are facing the main road so they are very load. Moreover, because of the missing sun blind it was not possible to darken rooms with morning sun. Moreover, the road lightning shines directly into the rooms.... Depending on who you asked from the front desk staff, we recieved totally different times for breakfast. It seems that they never cleaned the breakfast room. The staff was not interested in taking care of the buffet. Which was really annoying that sometimes they even did not have plates, cups, bowls to have breakfast. This was mainly because the staff did not remove the dishes from the guests, so they could not wash them and put them again on the buffet. The coffe machine and hot water at the buffet were only for decoration reasons and not to prepar yourself tea or coffee. Since the housekeeping did not clean our rooms we had to ask for toilet paper at the reception. Unfortunately, the receptionist answered that he has not any toilet paper for us...... When we checked in at the hotel, the rooms were not clean, the towels and bed-linen had stains. If somebody is interested we have pictures to proove these issues.
nice atmosphere, overall very nice and helpful service, parking facility, fairly near to old town, breakfast ok, clean and nice place
heaters somewhat too small to get the room warm
- secured parking provided - quality and interior of the room - easy communication with staff, personal approach
- there was no shampoo and shiwer gel provided. Good that coincidently I had my own - TV was just a piece of furniture - no remote was provided - breakfast was scheduled for 8:30 (was just ok for me) but in reality it was available by about 8:45 whihc resulted for me being late for work
Hotel staff tried to be kind and helpful.
We stayed in two rooms, but both had a terrible smell inside, especially in bathroom. Rooms were very unclean. At the weekdays the breakfast is served at 9, having duties earlier, no chance to eat. I asked for earlier breakfast, it was promised but then stuff changed and no actions happened.
Good location, friendly and helpful reception staff, happy to answer our questions, anything we asked for we were given promptly, staff could speak good English - which made things much easier for us. Felt safe in hotel, room and beds comfortable, water in shower always nice and hit at anytime of day, room was warm with adjustable heating. This hotel does what you need, and we would use again anytime.
Comfortable and spacious room.
Breakfast could have been served earlier and there could have been more juice available.
I liked this hotel, nor disliked. You can bring the dog with you (for a quite small amount), and beside the street there is huge park for walking the dog. There is a parking place, small, but if you don't want to pay for a parking place, 5 EUR for a night is just it.
No lift - if your room is in second or third floor and you have a baby, baby stroller, 2-3 luggages and etc. and you want to stay for a week.. think about it.
