Wonderful hotel, a great place to stay when in Riga... Top notch everything: crispy clean linens, huge bathtub, excellent food, beautiful decor, friendly staff, nice steam room and sauna, quiet street - PERFECT!

All the staff, without fail, were superb. Their service was first rate. The hotel was very clean. We had a lovely holiday.

Personally, I found the bed uncomfortable (although my wife didn't have a problem).

Location, Bar

Uncomfortable bed, if live on the ground floor be ready for noise from the street in the nigh/early morning

Perfect location within Old Riga, within walking distance of sights, restaurants, shopping. Staff attentive and pleasant. Decoration fresh and tasteful. Our junior suite and bathroom were spacious, warm, quiet and pleasant. Duvets and pillows very comfortable. Computer in room. Free wifi and internet. Good restaurant. Nice breakfast included.

The bed and sofa were unusually low and the bed was small for 2 people by 5 star hotel standards.

The appearance was beautiful.

The room temperature was unbearable. I was unable to change the temperature due to a temperature lock. I was able to open one window halfway open but then the street noise became more unbearable.

The hotel is in a great location, staff were great- made us feel very welcome.

At the checkout on Sunday, there was only one person at the reception, so it took too long to check out. It is also a bit strange that a couple would be given two small duvets instead of one double size.

Staff Location Breakfast Room service

Deluxe room (#404) on the 4th (last) floor was too hot. I turned off all the heating, tried to turn on the air conditioner (didn't seem to work, and it's installed in front of the bed!). Didn't help. I had to finally open the window at 2 AM, and wasn't able to sleep in the morning (noise). After complain in the morning I was moved to the room next door (much bigger one), where I had to turn off the heating again. Seems that it is general engineering ventilation problem with the last (mansard) floor.

Everything. Staff couldn't do enough. Breakfast superb. Room the same.

I booked two rooms for two nights.and paid for them by booking.com. But Grand Palace asked again to pay for accommodation!!!!!!!!!

Was the best hotel we stayed during our travels and would recommend it to anyone! Location perfect, staff perfect, and absolutely loved the furnishings.

Only negative would be that the front bar sold cigars and was very full of smoke. Make people smoke outside!

The service at reception was impeccable. We received an upgraded room on check in with excellent information and directions for the places we wanted to visit. We were unable to persuade Misha the resident parrot to talk at breakfast but we were reliably informed that he was quite talkative in the afternoon.

Smoking in the bar inside the hotel was a deterrent to an otherwise inviting spot.

There is nothing not to like.

One recommendation I can make for many hotels the Grand Palace included is that although the breakfast menu is extensive and delicious there is an observed avoidance of local produce. "Fresh fruit" in Latvia should mean berries, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, red and black currants were all in season and sold by the ton at the local produce markets and by women, children on every highway. Kiwi, bananas, oranges are not "fresh" in the Baltic states. The same could be said about the use of local mushrooms--chantarelles for in enormous quantities were not seen on the otherwise lavish hotel menu.

Quality hotel with superb facilities, friendly staff and great location.

The hotel was very comfortable. Staff are all welcoming, helpful and polite. The location is very good - close to all main attractions. The breakfast was excellent.

We really liked the beautiful decor and also the exceptional staff. Breakfast was fantastic and we could not recommend the Grand Palace Highly enough. We were very happy at this hotel and plan to stay there in future

The only thing we would have liked was to have tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms
