This luxurious hotel features a terrace with a lovely outdoor pool with panoramic views of the Medina and the sea. It is just 1300 ft from the beach, in central Essaouira.

Situated in one of the most quiet streets of Essaouira, Dar Assalama offers a warm and friendly welcome in a charming renovated riad.
Score from 93 reviews Excellent
We were given tea on arrival while filling in forms which was a nice welcome. Hotel was spacious, great piano bar with jazz singer. Good pool area with bar.
Wi-fi was non existent in room and erratic in public areas. Mostly buffet meals in restaurants rather than a la carte. Some staff were not very amiable.
I always loved the Atlas, the only reason I said I would not recommended is because they were well below their usual standards.
I have stayed in this hotel 3 times and absolutely loved it. However, this time around I had a broken shower, unhappy staff. In the lobby toilets there was no hand drying facilities until the 10/09 that they had a seminar and the they placed the hand towels. The overcharging and lack of attention to detail. Not a five stars hotel anymore, very sad!
The building itself was very nice and clean. Pool facilities were excellent and the restaurants as well.
The staff was not very helpful, spoke very little english and the housekeeping could never bring fresh towels at the time they cleaned the room. We always had to wait for the towels. Internet was very slow and limited connection.
The food, location, facilities and helpfulness
Nothing, it was all very good.
the location is acceptable close to the beach and the staff good, also the kids garden is nice.
the rooms are small like if you are in a 3 stars hotel not 5! the kids pool very small 2.4 to 3meter in diameter! the breakfast is poor too.
Nice Room. Great location. Lovely pool and well kept grounds. We had trouble with plumbing (water stopped flowing), but this was mended in reasonable time. Food was great, though we only ate there once as it was a little pricey and food is great everywhere in Essaouira.
The hotel took the online booking fee twice. It was refunded within a fortnight - but the cost of a non-sterling transaction still had to be paid. With one exception, the staff at reception and the staff at the Spa were a little severe. No-one (except one guy) smiled much. We were surprised by the mysterious 'local taxes' on the bill at the end of the stay - more than Dh60 per day. We hadn't expected or budgeted for that. We couldn't really get an explanation for this at reception.
- beach restaurant
- too expensive for the service and quality (not a 5 stars hotel) - poor pool service and staff - no hot water in the room - slow internet connection - poor breakfast
This establishment is advertised as a 5* hotel. It is however far from that rating. On arrival we were asked to sit down and fill in required check-in documents. We were not offered any refreshment or a single glass of water. Quite surprising for a 5* establishment. There was no tea&coffee making facilities in the room, no bottle of water provided. Again, this is a normal for 5* hotels. The amenities were basic. Room was comfortable but the A/C seemed not to be working that well. The building gives an impression that was built not so log time ago but the room was already quite ‘tired’ and bit neglected. Breakfast was fair but when there was a lot of guest the staff was not able to cope with the service. The same refers to the swimming pool. At the peak times there was literally no place to accommodate all the guests willing to rest at the swimming pool area. The sunbeds was placed very close to each other, guest were squeezed as the sardines. Dinning options were very limited. The international buffet offered by in one of the restaurants was a huge disappointment (very limited selection of food, quite cold food). Finally the spa. We have booked a room with a 1h-spa package which was a joke as it gave us only an access to the little pool and a small gym. Do not bother. Staff was trying to be helpful (especially those at the swimming pool an breakfast) but the ones at the main reception did not show any understanding when we asked for a late check out (1h later) and had a quite an attitude when we have asked for a detailed explanation of our bill. Would not stay here again.
Very clean hotel. Spacious rooms and bathrooms. Staff very friendly. Great location - nice walk to Medina. There was a problem with our booking as they had no double rooms left (even though we had booked a double) and we were upgraded to a better room which was great but not before I had kicked up a fuss when they tried to put us in a twin room!
Place could use more plants/trees/foliage outdoors especially around the pool Breakfast isn't great but worth getting as there's nowhere else near to eat really - hot buffet was disappointing and the scrambled eggs are AWFUL! There was a cockroach in our room on the last day but there's not much that can be done about that!
There is definitely a need to improve breakfast. A cook to fry eggs, omlets of your choice woul be good
Lovely hotel, great price bought on booking.bom deal, brilliant staff, good variety at breakfast
It's location and clean rooms
Staff were not that friendly or helpful for telling you about things near by
Great location, 15min stroll to the old town. Very modern clean comfortable hotel with very attentive staff. The hotel has an excellent pool area with ample sun loungers and seating areas. The hotel is very clean throughout which was very impressive. We used this hotel on a room omly basis as the restaurants in the town are very cheap and plentiful.
Rooms were great but no balconies. Restaurant prices are very expensive compared to restaurants and cafes outside. On departure the reception tried to charge us for drinks that were never in the mini-bar in the room in the first place! I did find it quite offensive as this was for alcoholic drinks and myself and my partner are both tea total.
nice swimming pool.
Internet is super super slow in the room. Not working properly.
Excellent facilities. Ideal beach front location. Not too far from the Medina.
Expensive bar. Not a great deal of variety in the restaurant.
Hotel in European style with nice inner garden and pool. Due to the strong wind we were not able to swim in it but it was very pleasant just to relaxed next to it. We enjoyed are own "terrace" on the ground flor. The breakfast were excellent, we enjoyed ocean view during the brekfast.
Welcome drink was served during chick in when I found passport in my backpack - it could be served couple minutes later ;o) Ringing phone on toilet 5 - 7 times each night was terribly annoying ! (there is some problem with phone lines between rooms and reception) Cleanliness was fine but we expected more from 5* hotel.
Room service order was wrong but to tired to complain and wait for correct order.
Location, fast room service, pool, interiors, beach
Staff and food... Very poor service.. Almost rude.. Most things were over priced... Food made us sick and was much overly priced and when brought to the attention of the staff they had no interest...
Large clean and modern rooms. The small private beach area.
very large and uninviting dark lobby area and generally strange layout of the hotel. The outside pool area could be better.
The staff was wonderful! I will return!
Helpful staff, always smiling, wanting to help and make our stay enjoyable. It seemed important to staff for us to have a personal and enjoyable experience. My French was poor and Arabic non-existent and staff always tried to communicate in English and always apologised for not being able to speak very well even though they did. Breakfast was wonderful with so much choice and room service was excellent also. I also had the best Hammam and massage ever.
The hotel needs someone to walk round the building and check on all the small maintenance jobs that need doing such as missing handle on gym door, broken shower head support in our room and I expected a faster response from maintenance staff once reported. Had to report a problem 3 times to Reception who were always apologetic however these kind of jobs should be reported by staff primarily not patrons.
Almost everything. Great staff, comfy rooms, good food.
The receptionist at the spa.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
friendly staff, nice pool, nice breakfast
We had a wonderful holiday at the Atlas Essaouira. The hotel is very well managed and all the staff we encountered, particularly on reception, were very efficient and personable - nothing was too much trouble. We arrived home in the UK feeling totally relaxed and eager to plan another trip here in the near future!
