Best place to plan to climb Jebel Toubkal (4160 m) – Morocco’s and North Africa’s highest mountain. Not only Toubkal but many other day trips and hikes can take place from Imlil including visiting Berber villages, with guides who can be hired locally with many different types of trips to meet your needs, horse, donkey or bicycle its all on offer. Note no local ATM machines so take enough cash or be prepared for a short trip to Ansi. Wherever you travel the views are inspiring.

excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
excellent hideaway from the heat of Marrakesh.
Zarathustra restaurant cooked us a fantastic dinner, for the right price. We has a look to their rooms, and other that there was no air-con at the time, the style, price and size were very nice. Some of the rooms had shared bathroom.
We did not find good restaurants in Imlil other than the above, though we did not check other hotels and riads. there are some local restaurants that were ok, very local....

Even if you aren’t planning to hike Toubkal, I would 100% suggest Imlil for a quiet weekend to get away from the bustle and bustle of Marrakech. In my two trips to Morocco, I’ve visited Imlil three times, once for a day, once for several days on my second trip just to relax with no plans of hiking Toubkal, and then I returned with friends to hike Toubkal.
My experience with the people of Imlil is that they are genuinely welcoming and kindhearted, not just pretending to be because you’re a tourist with money, as I’ve experienced in other cities. The prices of things are also typically better than in Marrakech overall, although they are still geared towards tourists.
Despite being a few different settlements, Imlil is a small village where everyone knows each other and is happy to help you find what you’re looking for. There are plenty of guides for a day hike or for hiking Toubkal, and whatever lodging you stay at can usually help you find someone to guide you.
Overall, Imlil is my favorite place in Morocco, and coming here feels like returning home.

Incredible mountain village.
Incredible mountain village. The mountains and nature are breath-taking. If you want peace away from it all I highly recommend!
The local people are very peaceful and kind too. Don't be shy to say hello!
One of my favourite places in Morocco so far
Everyone is so friendly, and there is so much food! They all really care that you have the best experience possible. I received a bigger, better breakfast here than at a “4 star” riad in Marrakech—and everyone was friendlier and more genuine than in Marrakech as well. They also helped me find a guide for a short trek I wanted to take over the weekend. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone who visits Imlil. My friend was the one who recommended it to me, and I’m very glad that he did. I can’t wait to visit again!
Lahcen and his family were so open and friendly. We were welcomed with a tea ceremony and felt right at home. This is a six generation home and is a real homestay tucked away in the hills of Imlil. If you’re coming by car, just know the dirt road to Lahcen’s village is narrow and windy (we did it fine with a Yaris). We ate every meal here and they were all delicious! Our stay came at the end of Eid and there was dancing and music in the center of the village. Two nights here was perfect. What a special experience!
We booked 2 bedrooms for a 3 night stay and were incredibly happy. Really comfortable beds, gorgeous views from the balconies and hot running water :) The rooftop terrace was a great added bonus.
We ate breakfast and dinner here all 3 days and had the best tagine of our stay in Morocco.
What really made our stay though was the hospitality of Hussain and Said. They were so attentive and couldn’t do enough for us. Really helpful advice re hiking and cycling routes, and just generally very welcoming.
Wonderful hotel in the middle of the mountains. Breathtaking view from the terrace. Exceptional food available at the hotel. Rachid is a fantastic host likewise all his family. Day trips to the mountains cliffs to discover the beauty of the nature in Imlil are available at a very reasonable price. The hotel is in a village in the village, so I’d say. You can discover the tradition of the Barber culture meanwhile relaxing in the nature. A special thank to Hamza who was our guide during the day trip.
The view from the balcony and the terrace is stunning . I vividly recommend the place to everyone who wants to relax away from the hustle of the city and to connect more to the nature and its silence.
Not only that, the stuff was so helpful .. They help us carry our baggage to the hotel cuz we didn’t have a car. A special thanks to Hamid, he was available whenever we needed him and welcomed us warmly, without forgetting Hamza and the housekeeper lady.
This is a special place, with extraordinary genuine moroccon people, Hassan and his wife Hadgiga.I stay before în 5 stars hotels, but staying here is beyond .
Great atitudine, great moroccon food and tea and cookies. Helpfull with finding a guide Abdoul, without him I cant reach the Toubkal summit.
Clean room ,bathroom, and salle a mange. I will recomend this Kasbah to all my friends. Great experince, I stay 2 nights here
Hassan was a fantastic host, answering all of our questions about his culture and cooking the most delicious food (we had dinner 3 out of our 3 nights at Dar Aymane)! He also gave us easy instructions for doing two small hikes on our own. The common area in the hotel was cozy and the terrace outside offered a stunning view of the mountains. Our bedroom was comfortable and spacious. Thank you!!
I came to Imlil to stay a couple of days but finally I end up staying 2 weeks in Dar Atlas with Jamal and his lovely family. It is amazing quet place in neibourhood surrounded by hills and cherry trees. I also took Jamal guiding services and went to Toubkal with his guide. The place is clean with amazing food and terace view. I will surely come back here again. Thank you!
Nothing luxurious but that's not what we were looking for. If you're searching for an authentic experience, in a Berber village that's a 15 minute walk from Imlil, then I would strongly suggest the Berber Family Lodge. Hassan, the manager, will work overtime to make sure you have everything you need. The food was delicious, as were the views.
The owner of the Hotel was incredibly accommodating and helpful and friendly. Amazing home cooked meals and the most beautiful location with a brilliant view of Imlil and the surrounding mountains. Rooms and facilities exceeded expectations and I cannot stress how helpful the staff are. I hope to stay again. Thank you Rachid and Abdul!
location was out of this world with simply stunning views from our room and the terrace. Driss was very helpful with his recommendations for local treks and the meal we had with him was delicious. The riad is situated above a Berber village which drops down to the valley floor with a short walk down to Imlil. Also the best mint tea!
The hostel was so clean and neat , Malika welcomed us with tea and pastries, the rooms' decoration was great , and it offered a nice view over the river , the food was delicious 😋 and the staff were friendly , and i also liked the book shelve in the room especially Alan's booking that talks about trekking in morocco
TOUBKAL GARDEN
Great Riad in the heart of the Atlas mountains
We had a great stay here. Hassan took carw of everything including our trip to mount Toupkal. The Riad is nicely located in Imlil with a nice terrace with a beathiful view of the mountains. We definitely recommend the riad and hopefully we'll be back soon
We made 5 days Morocco trip with Imlil Atlas trekking and Toubkal trip for 2 days. Our mountains guides was helpful and we had great accommodation in hotel. We found meals to be very good. Sunset views from our room was spectacular and you will meet friendly people at every corner in Aroumd and also Imlil. Thank you.
The hotel was located in the middle of nature and mountains and it was so peaceful and relaxing! staff was super nice and available, cooked us dinner and prepared us an amazing breakfast in the panoramic terrasse! and good start point for a hike in Imlil
We really enjoyed our stay here - great location overlooking Imlil, lovely staff (who are also guides with great local knowledge), delicious freshly prepared food - we had dinner here both nights, and roof top terrace with incredible views.
amazing location just in centre of imlil village, easy to find parking, spent here 1 night only as been in hurry , but worth to stay more nights, village is cool, meals are traditional and taste fantastic. recommended!
This little Gite is run by a very knowledgeable and helpful licensed guide. The rooms are simple but this is not a luxury hotel. It is a cozy place to have easy access to Imlil.
amazing stay! The hotel owner was incredibly kind, and the room was spotless with a breathtaking view. Plus, the traditional Moroccan food was absolutely delicious!
A very pleasant hotel, a warm welcome, spacious and comfortable rooms, excellent bedding, impeccable cleanliness, and an excellent breakfast. Everything is perfect.
