The location is breathtaking! To arrive at the hotel, we drove across a non-paved road toward the dunes. It was a little disconcerting at first, but the road was in good condition and we arrived with no problem. It is a family-built and family-run hotel in Saharan Adobe (rammed earth & straw) construction. The thick walls remain cool during the day and retain heat at night, making for a comfortable stay. The rooms are tastefully decorated and throughout the hotel, beautiful Berber carpets can be seen. We had a great stay and are definitely coming back again some time!
The best location! You can see the sunrise in desert directly from your bed. Privat terase is on dunes! Very nice, kind staff! Real location is 7km before Merzouga! You must follow the signs!
excellent location right on edge of desert. Far away from town which was we preferred. Lovely helpful staff too.
They need to have a more varied menu. Choice is limited
Simply all great! The location is better than imagined. The hotel is very clean, relaxing environment. Very polite, friendly and helpful staff. Really on the edge of the desert, we combined our stay in Morocco with Auberge De Charme Les Dunes D'Or. We highly recommend.
location: the dunes are one step away from the bedroom! My 6 years old have lots of fun playing sand and I enjoyed the sunshine by laying down on the sand for the whole afternoon. Plenty hot water and wifi signal is good in dining room. The owner speaks good English and all the staff is very friendly. The facility is basic but don't forget this is in the desert. The cleanliness met my satisfaction. I would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who visit merzouga.
not really...I feel very convenient to get to town and camp because we drove. If not driving, this place might not be that easy to get in and out. But do contact the staff, I'm sure they will be happy to find you a solution
Right on the edge of the sand dunes the hotel provides the atmosphere of traditional house-fortresses (kasbah). A camel ride into the desert is the must
Wi-fi is unreliable and so is the water in the shower. To get some wine or beer you have to drive to the nearest village (which is 15 km of desert road), so better bring it with you
You may bring your own alcohol in the restaurant. Nice restaurant, nice staff, big and nice rooms.
Noting to complain aboat but any way. They don`t have alcohol licence. But they explained where to buy.
The location is simply perfect, you have a balcony with direct access to the dunes. The staff is very kind and the food is also recommendable. The cuscus is really well made
The location in Booking is completely wrong, and we had no information that that is an off road in order to get to the hotel. Do not use the location from booking, use google maps. The Wi-fi signal is week
-Very helpful and friendly staff -beautiful dunes at hotel doorstep - allow you to use shower even after your check out - camel trek was amazing. trekked to this beautiful oasis in the desert. -good food and drum music after dinner -Huessin and Said gave my wife and I a ride all the way to Erfoud bus station through the desert. Great guys. In fact all the staff were perfect. -used a credit card
-hard to reach, but it is in the middle of a desert -a lot of flies buzzing around by the pool
Great situation, we could enjoy an amazing view over the dunes of Erg Chebbi from our own little terrasse. The slow but friendly staff helped us organize trips to the desert.
Due to the hotel`s generator and the other rooms being so close by, our nights weren't nearly as quiet as imagined.
Great location right next to the huge Erg Chebbi sand dunes so that you could walk on to them from the back of the hotel.
An older hotel with poor finish, given the price. The big pool fountains were annoying and noisy.
nice view, next to the dunes, activities can be booked on the spot, nice people
Directly on the sand dunes Clean Pool on site (mandatory in August!)
Waiting time for food (they told us upfront) Air conditioning issue when we were there (fixed in a few hours)
Staff casual and relaxed, rooms spacious and clean , pool nice and refreshing, located right on the dunes doorstep a great place to stay a 10 .located to the left approaching merzouga from raisin I across an open dessert in a small car don't be discouraged slow and steady gets you there!
Forgetting to stock up on beer ! :( to keep in the cooler in the hotel
- Location - Friendly & helpful owner and staff - Great local food (tangines and other dishes) - Pool - Garden - Very relaxed atmosphere - Overnight camel trip into the desert, sleeping under the stars
- Airconditioning couldn't cope with the heat (we were there in August) and room temp at night was around 28 degrees Centigrade)
We were three young people and we really enjoyed it. All was amazing: situation, people, rooms, facilities. Really amazing!! Important: if you want, they could pick you up from Merzouga. You just need to call and tell them.
All was amazing! Best ever of course.
swimming pool is very nice.Confortable rooms.Good food.Fantastic expeience.
Such an amazing staff, nothing was too much. They organised our camel trips and taken us out on a 4x4 tour of the desert. The best trip ever. So unique, no big groups, just us in the desert...a family of four. The kids loved the pool, just simple paradise and also not to forget to mention the great breakfast and dinners... Although this place...it's unique and stepping back in time, you do understand you're in the desert and still very impressive we got Wifi!
There's nothing we didn't like. It's perfect!
The location is perfect! Right at the Erg Chebbi dunes. Also the room has a nice balcony with view over the dunes. Nice swimmingpool. The cameltrek and night in the desert is amazing! The food is very good and well priced. The staff is very friendly depending on how busy it is.
The reception is not staffed. When we arrived we had to look for someone around the Auberge. It seems everyone was asleep. The Auberge is badly maintained, the pool is outdated and the building is falling apart. Cleaniness of the rooms could be better. Toilet flooded the bathroom a bit and smelled terrible. Airconditioning works only from 10pm till 10 am, because of using a generator during night and only solar energy during the day. The road to the Auberge is a rough road, but you can drive there gently even with normal car, like we did.
Nice hotel with excellent view, great swimming pool, great food, nice personel. Excursion by camels with sleeping in desert was perfect, guide was great with good english.
We had a fantastic time at this hotel and I would 100% recommend to anyone who is venturing into the desert. We arrived at Merzouga at 10.30pm and were picked up by hotel staff. Once we arrived we were taken to our beautiful room which had a magnificent view of the dunes. We were also given some food even though the kitchen was closed. They couldn't have been more helpful. The hotel has great facilities and we were able to explore the nearby dunes on foot and relax by the pool. The restaurant also serves delicious and affordable food. On our second day we booked to go on a camel tour into the desert. The hotel provided us with a private room to keep our belongings and we were also able to use the facilities there which was really helpful. We were the only two people from our hotel going on the tour that evening. We were put on our camels and rode into the desert for about 1.5 hours. It was stunning. Once we got to the camp we watched the sunset and then ate a delicious meal. We were then invited to a neighbouring camp to hear some traditional music. The tents were comfortable and secure. The next morning we watched the sunrise, had a great breakfast, and headed back to the hotel. We were able to shower in the room they had given us and spent the rest of the day relaxing at the hotel. They even gave us a lift back to Merzouga and gave us some water for our travels and a scarf as a souvenier! I cannot recommend Auberge les Dunes D'Or enough. There were no nasty surprises will the bill - everything was as described. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. A special thanks to Hamel, who looked after us superbly during our whole stay, and who made the trip to the desert an unforgettable experience. If you are looking for a comfortable hotel in a perfect location to explore the dunes and to go on a trip to the desert, I can't imagine a better place exists in the Merzouga area. Thank you all for a fantastic trip!
Location relative to the dunes is excellent. Finding the hotel was more challenging - keep driving along the dirt road and you will eventually get there. The staff were very attentive and friendly. From the hotel you can walk to the top of the largest sand dune (you cant miss it!) in 90 minutes - just take water!!
Perfect location directly at the dunes! Very nice people who run the "Kasbah" and make the stay really enjoyable. A must to see the sunrise in the morning at the dunes!
The location is breathtaking and could not be better. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The hotel gardens, pool and the general ambience is superb and very restful. The food is excellent, plentiful and also good value and the breakfasts are second to none. An added bonus is that some of the staff are brilliant musicians and give excellent hastle free after dinner performances. This all added up to be a most wonderful desert experience. Nice job guys!! and a special thanks to Mustafa for being very entertaining and good fun during our stay. Also, the sunset camel trips are not to be missed. I would highly recommend this as your first choice stay in the desert. Mally and Karen Ennis, Ledbury, England
Wonderful Berber hotel on the bottem of the beautiful Dunes in Mergouza. The food was excellent
