No hot water in bathroom, the technician tried to fix it but it was taking more than 10 min for warm water to arrive and I was on the first floor.
breakfast was great
- Location. - Staff. - Price.
- Very old. - No facilities of any kind. - No shower gel, no iron, no safe, no kettle, no mini bar. - Poor breakfast. - Old furniture. - Towels and pillow covers are smelly or yellowish.
Having done all the hotels in Tangier (over 20 years 70 -80 visits) this is the only one I will stay in the future.
Asked at booking bed and there was not. I did not take the printed confirmation because I was traveling and could not print and the front desk were not friendly towards such a situation.

Location, price relation
First and foremost the cleaning staff were magnificent. Friendly and cheerful, they deserve the highest commendation. Service in the restaurant was also first class. This was my fourth visit to The Chellah. I hope it was not my last.
Being a typical Brit.,I always hope everyone abroad speaks English. Although I believe your website states that all reception staff were fluent in many languages, I found it hard to be understood sometimes. A very minor criticism, I always managed to cope.
The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They arranged a great taxi and guide for us. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean. The lobby was in great condition and it felt like an old movie. The breakfast was delicious (not included but well worth the extra). The pool was nice and large.
nothing really. It's not incredibly close to the medina but it was still an easy walk. That was probably the only downside.
A large central site with the hotel having a pool and garden to relax in. Our guide told us the hotel had been a long time favourite with Brits and whilst it felt a little staid it had full A/C, Satellite TV and free Wifi. Location is not far from the main drag and there are authentic tea shops and eating places close by. We'd definitely stay again.
Staff were a little laid back at times and couldn't deal with a simple taxi booking at first request.
Close to everything - including the beach and the Medina area, without being right in it. Really good pricing for a room that size and with a balcony.
I didn't use the pool, but it looked a little uncared for -leaves sitting on the bottom and the water not quite crystal clear.
chellah is showing age now but is still a nice hotel with clean rooms offering a hearty moroccan breakfast in a cracking location if u dont mind dirty looks off the receptionists its the place to go
in what could probably be the last attempt to rescue the hotels reputation the reception staff give a really bad first impression to the hotel (i never complain look at my previous reviews)... seriously ... i had 14 family members almost staying at that hotel because my parents reccomended it but the negativity of the reception staff meant i had to put my money ( €2500.00+) in a nearby hotel elsewhere and i will never stay there again
The breakfasts were good with an extensive choice. The pool & garden area was nice
We had a room overlooking the road outside & it was very noisy. Overall, the hotel was adequate but was tired looking. It was celebrating its 50th year of opening & some areas looked as if they had been untouched for all that time!!
the pool and garden were ok and location within walking distance to the medina . a acima supermarcet was nearby to shop some drinks and other things
TV defect, bathroom old and bad smelling, very old furniture. a minibar to keep at least some cold water would be a good idea. pool closing time to early
It was comfortable and clean
That the rooms were not ready when we arrived this was understandable because we were early but when we got back after lunch at 3.30 we were given a room that was occupied and then when they have us a second room it was not ready. We were really tired and needed to shower and rest and we had to wait for the beds to be done and the bathroom cleaned and new towels put in. We were quite frustrated by then. Other than that all was oksy
It was my first time in Tanga and the hotel staff made me and my partner feel at home. They were very helpfull and kind, the breakfast we hat every morning was also very good and again the staff was great. The swimmingpool and garden is really great to spend a day at or like we have done have a evening picnic in the garden. Around the corner is a friendly supermarket where they speak French and arabic and also helpfull in your needs, in all I will book this hotel again like I already have done.
Moroccan staff thinks to be funny but they are not
I like the staff very accomodating
Super little hotel. It was probably one of THE addresses in Tangiers in its heyday, but like loads of the rest of the city, little has been done to modernise it since then. However, it was big, bright, clean and the staff were really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great, loads of variety, and lots of it. And we had a hard time hauling our 6yr old out of the pool, which was big, clean and very inviting on a hot day. We would definately recommend the Hotel Chellah as somewhere cheap, central, welcoming and with loads of character!
Location and price. Nice pool
Avoid the restaurant unless you are fond of 1950s English cooking...fried and breaded greasy chicken patties with boiled potatoes was a new low.
Location was great to us. And the pool was absolutely amazing! Breakfast was nice too.
Nothing for this price actually
The lobby is good.
That it was easy to get to from the bus stop. The taxi trip was quite quick.
The staff were always on the phone and abrupt. The food was terrible in the restaurant and extremely overpriced. The "airport taxi" they organised was also very expensive.
Great lobby with great service. Good breakfast buffet. Staff was excellent with their impressive language skills (switching between 5 languages)
The pool was okay.
I have never experienced worse personel! They made SO many mistakes (e.g. giving us wrong keys to other peoples rooms several times) and though it's only human to make mistakes, don't expect to be met with any kind of apology, instead they got angry and very rude towards us. I was yelled at when I asked for some ice for my warm glas of water. It seems like the staff doesn't get along and the overall vibe of the place was horrible and made me want to leave as fast as possible. The rooms had their flaws too (the shower didn't work proberly, flushing problems, wifi only works at first floor, the window couldn't open, lightbubls not working and when I asked if the bulb could be changed they became really unkind). Last but not least, don't eat the food there. The breakfast is somewhat decent (warm yougurt, dry-old pastries and overboiled smelly eggs), but dinner is horrible - I got a steak wich couldn't be cut and half cold vegetable from a can. I ate what I could while an angry servant staired at me. I know this sound unbelievable, but trust me, I only wish to warn you. I have travelled a lot over the years and is use to pretty basic places, so my expectations are never to the roof or anything. But this place is hell and I'd rather sleep in the streets of Tangier than going back.
