Hamid and his family were lovely. The food was delicious and the mud brick house beautiful. They also have camels and some tents in the dunes where we stayed one night which was wonderful. Great value for money and so easy to organise!
Amazing stay here- everyone was so friendly and accomodating, the food was delicious and the rooms very comfy. A really beautiful choice.
It just felt so natural, warm, and welcoming- especially after passing all those big, hotel, colorless riads on our drive down from Fes. We were so happy to stay here. It felt like staying at someone's home. Great experience.
Because of the snow we couldn't pass the atlas mountain, so we were delayed by a day. Youssef was very flexible and moved our stay to the next day. Hamid quickly arranged the camel tour and within 45 minutes of our arrival we were already enjoying Merzouga dunes by camel. Great flexibility! Also the food, the hot shower and good wifi were a big plus.
It was pretty cold in the room (January) and we didn't magage to turn on the heating. Anyway we had a good sleep.
Excellent & friendly staff (Hamid). Lovely & cozy décor. Comfortable beds. Traditional mud brick house. Wonderful courtyard.
Hamid and his family were super friendly, great food, nice trip to the desert with nightover at their own camp which was very very nice.
Quiet, cosy place with very nice host that can arrange camel treks into the dessert.
-Chez is an amazing host. I really can't say enough good things about him. He will make you feel at home and almost instantly feel like a true old friend. -The location is right in the middle of the cute, small Moroccan city of Merzouga unlike the majority of other hotels that are isolated out in the desert where you will only meet other tourists and people trying to sell you activity packages. In the city you will connect quickly with the amazing, friendly locals. -The dunes are an easy walk away. -Chez serves delicious, authentic, fresh meals. I miss them already. -The building is charming, unique and beautiful. -Strong, hot water from the shower. -Parking literally next to the front door. -Great wifi.
The room was cold at night, but this is winter and the spare blankets kept me toasty for a great sleep.
Hamid is very helpful and freindly. Very nice and quiet hostel.
Dinner of 180 dirham for 2 pax(Tagine Kafta + drinks) is too expensive, other than that everything else is nice. Tagine at local restuarant for 1 person is around 25 dirham.
Hamid was very friendly and helpful. I was ill (stomach infection) and Hamid did everything he could to make things better for me (bringing ice, making special food, bringing me to the doctor). This all helped very much.
The internet did not work in the Merzouga area (not only chez youssef)
we arrived during the night and we were welcomed very warmly.Chez Youssef is a nice place to stay if you want to spend the night in a very busy city center like Merzouga.
There is no view from any part of the building
Even though my bus was late, Hamid was there to greet me and gave me mint tea and snacks while I checked in, and even offered me dinner. As it was low season, I was the only guest. Hamid provided a lovely breakfast and dinner in the courtyard. He organised a sunset camel ride to the dunes and tried to organise other tours, but there were non available as it was low season, and it would have been too expensive to go alone.
Merzouga is a small town and may not had an ATM. I was there on a weekend - the post office was closed and that seemed to be the only place to get cash if necessary.
This small (4 bedroom) guesthouse is the perfect place to stay in Merzouga. Hamid the manager was attentive and anticipating my every need. From inviting me to park my motorcycle in the courtyard, collecting bottled water for me on his moped, to ensuring his wife prepared an excellent vegetarian meal for my night out in the desert. Although there is not a great deal to do in Merzouga, I ended up staying an extra (4th) night, just to see the morning sun on the dunes from the roof terrace again. Although he doesn't live on the premises, he was there to prepare food at meal times, and called in through out the day to ask if I needed anything. I left reluctantly after 4 days feeling I had stayed with a favorite relative more than in a guesthouse.
Very beautiful berber house! The breakfast was also great! The host was very nice and helpful! We booked a desert trip through him, and was great!
Small tip: do not take the dessert "caramel cream" from the menu, as it is made from pouding powder. :-D
Hamid and his family welcomed us warmly to their guest house in the desert It is at the edge if Erg Chebbi and a short walk to be on the dunes directly We saw groups being led out by camel to stay the night in Berber tents but we did not opt for that We ate dinner at the Chez and it was excellent as well as the breakfast There is a sweet sitting area with a fountain and the Chez is decorated nicely with a desert and Berber feeling We were driving a rental car and really appreciated all the signs to led us there
the staff is very friendly, We felt like home; The riad is beautiful and like a oasis in the desert; the food is great
Spent a total of 3 nights Chez Youssef, of which one in a nomad tent in the dunes (a fabulous and highly recommended trip arranged by Hamid). The breakfast is to die for, as is the dinner prepared by Hamid's family. The ecologically heated water provides for a great shower.
The rooms are basic and an intermediate cleaning would have been appreciated.
Nice room, nice decoration, excellent breakfast. The owner is very gentle and professional. I recommend the dinner too. His sister is a great cook!
There is only one towel for each person and a smaller one for both. Not really important.. Just a detail...
Hamid was a great host and helped us book our desert trip which was unforgettable. The facilities of chez youssef were fab, especially the shower which was better than mine at home! The breakfast we were made in the morning was huge so we never needed any lunch. The best part about the place was the quiet courtyard with the little bubbling fountain which attracted a lot of desert sparrows.
Nothing at all. It was perfect.
Staying at Chez Youssef was the highlight of our stay, so much in fact that we booked another night just to relax. Beautiful Riad, and Hamid could not have been more helpful. Anything we needed he ensured we had, also helping us book a tour into the desert with a great guide Would highly recommend
"You are at home" said Hameed from Chez Youssef. And we felt ourselves so! We were really tired after road to Merzouga, but tasty dinner, hot shover and comfy room refund our power. We were there only two nights (3 jan till 5 jan).I recommend to stay there little longer. *nice and helpful staff( more then helpful) *tasty food *comfy room *air conditioning (it were quite warm at night) *good price
Staff - Hamid was a great host. He made sure we could get every comfort we needed in the desert. Facility - it was clean and cozy. Hot water, Wifi, heater, Considering the place was located in the desert, I called it 'Oasis' Breakfast - wonderful. Served warm every morning. This is only place I tasted 'Date extract' which tasted like chocolate.. Restaurant -We ate their restaurant during our entire stay and that was one of the best food we had.
The staff were friendly and very generous with their attention. To our comfort.
The mattress was a little hard.
Hamid was a very friendly host, the Riad is a basic guesthouse that was all we needed for one night in the desert. Had working wifi, heating and the hottest water we had.
Dinner was nice but cold due to a misunderstanding of the time we wanted it.
Very nice staff, beautiful decorated room, pleasant interier of all hotel parts and delicious home made food. We have enjoyed our stay. Also we arenged from hotel really nice trip on camels to the desert and we can only recomended it! our guide was funny and we spent beautiful night there with delicious tagine. For sure we could recomend this family hotel and if we come back we know where to go!
