Michele and Dominic, the owners, are wonderful hosts, ensuring guest comfort.
I found the owners of the Riad were extremely helpful and lovely. The hammam and massage were excellent! The suite was spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was ample and delicious.
The Riad was located in the Kasbah - residential area and vehicular access was limited. Too many steep steps to manoeuvre. Only one restaurant next door at present as hotel did not provide at the time and did not feel safe walking at night.
Dar Chams is high up in the hills of Tangier and has spectacular views of the city and harbor. The terrace is a paradise to sit back and relax on and enjoy mint tea and cookies and the warm mediterranean breezes - the evenings are bliss. My room was an oasis with a sitting area straight from the orient, a bed of exceptional quality and a rain shower that was hard to pry myself out of. Michelle (hope you are feeling better) and Dominic are very gracious hosts and took the time to make sure all my needs were met. I wish I had stayed longer, but look forward to my next stay with Dar Chams Tanja - five star amenities for a lot less money.
Everything was perfect.
in addition the old city
I don't like any thank
Though we were only staying for one night Michelle had all the time in the world for us.She and her husband Dominic have built and furnished to a very high standard a beautiful Moroccan guest house. We had to catch the morning train to Marrakech and were accommodated with an early breakfast and our English speaking taxi driver whom Michelle had sent to pick us up from the Tarifa ferry the day before.
The staff , the ambiance, the comfort of the rooms, the breakfast on the rooftop, the location in the medina. All were prefect for those wanting comfort but not isolation.
As an authentic place, it was part of a medina neighborhood, an often noisy neighborhood, but a real place. It is not for those with bad knees or bad hearts!
We spent one night here and it was a great experience. The location is fantastic and the staff are very accomodating. The views from the roof were great and the setting up there is really nice. The breakfast was fabulous. The authenticity of the hotel added to our experience in Tangier.
The hospitality of thé owners.
I can't say enough about this hotel and experience. We were welcomed from the first minute we arrived by the owner and given generous time to answer all our questions and to try to help us work out details for our travel to the next Moroccan city. It was like time stood still and we were their only concern. When that was taken care of we were taken upstairs to our room. There is no lift but not to worry....the staff will carry the luggage up and down the stairs for you. The facility has been completely rebuilt and is beautiful and beautifully decorated. It is like being in an art gallery or a magazine model home. Everything is beautifully positioned and appropriate and yet so cultural. It was so quiet and inviting. The rooftop patio with comfortable lounge chairs and shade was a great place to spend free time. From there you could see the old city and the sea. We were treated to mint tea and wonderful homemade cookies while we adjusted to our arrival. When we looked around the room, we found more of those same delicious cookies carefully placed in a tajine dish on the desk. And the next morning we again visited this rooftop location for our breakfast. When we asked, the hosts recommended restaurants for eating out during our time there. We tried some and were completely satisfied. The owners arranged for us to be picked up at the ferry terminal (for a fee to the driver) and taken directly to the hotel. We didn't have to worry about language issues or where to go. Our taxi driver spoke very good English and became our guide....even private chauffeur for some things we needed to do. It was such an enjoyable time with great memories.
Beautiful guesthouse in an excellent location run by people who clearly love to host and make you feel at home. You are within walking distance of the medina and the best that the kasbah has to offer.
The owners were very kind, hospitable and helpful for finding our way in Tangier. The hotel itself is a gem, see the rooftop terrace.
Dar Chams was the perfect start to our Moroccan adventure. The location and staff were amazing (they were very caring when I fell ill) and we couldn't have asked for more. Very, very highly recommended.
Loved it. No complaints at all.
Location was excellent every thing within reach . It was my first time to stay in Ryad, which i think is a great experience to live with the local people
The hot wate was poor
Amazed to find such an excellent hotel run by a French couple, makes our short stay in Tanger worthwhile and unforgettable!
Should provide pick up service from the port!
It was all amazing!
the most outstanding thing is the hospitality and care for the details delivered by Michelle and Dominique (?sp?). I had trouble with my airline flights, and they went out of their way to help. Much appreciated.
The noise in the streets at night during Ramadan; not the hotel's issue....
I and my sister stayed at Dar Chams Tanja during Ramadan and had no complaints about the accommodations or service. Though we had been touring Spain just prior to our arrival, we are from the Southwest United States. When we arrived we were given sweet tea and refreshments to welcome us to the hotel and Tangier. The hotel, itself, is located at the top of the Kasbah and the Medina. There is also a very skilled and knowledgeable gentleman that also assists with the running of the hotel. He was very kind and helpful to both I and my sister. Bushra and Aysha were very skilled as assistants and very caring and friendly. Primarily French, English, and Arabic are spoken there. Dominique and Michelle are the proprietors and are originally from France. If you wish to visit the surrounding countryside or more of the city, they will happily find a guide for you. I highly recommend Dar Chams Tanja if you are planning to visit Tangier or Morocco.
The entire experience was rather charming. Aysha and Bushra made the loveliest breakfast every day and their eggs were superb.
I was so happy making this choice...The place you choose to stay makes or breaks EVERYTHING, and i chose PERFECT. Michelle & Dominic are AMAZING hosts and their sole purpose is to make their guests COMFORTABLE and CONTENT. Their staff is wonderful as well, they do it all clean, cook and attend to your every need with a HUGE authentic smile. their are only seven rooms which makes the staff be able to really take care of their guests needs...everyone of them. Michelle does'nt stop setting up tours, suggesting the best place to see, shop and eat at. She knows the city extremely well and i recommend that you jump on whatever she suggests it will make your stay in this AMAZING CITY the best it can be. I truly cannot wait to go back and spend MORE TIME HERE...LOVED
The staff, the breakfast, the roof top terrace, the location, the helpful owners, the cleanliness, the room.
The breakfast does not start until 08.30. That's a long time to wait when you wake up before 0700.
The staff were very helpful in giving us directions to landmarks and restaurants which we wanted to visit. The breakfast was lovely with fresh yoghurt, fresh cheese, fruit, eggs and honey soaked pancakes.
We thought that the rooms were soundproofed, but we could hear people in the room next door, and water in the pipes from the room above. We could also hear people out in the street. It would have been very nice to have a kettle to make cups of tea, and perhaps even a small fridge to keep water cool. The view over Tangier from the breakfast area was blocked by an opaque windshield, so that you couldn't really see the view that we liked the look of in the photos of the property. We felt we would have liked a little more privacy - the owners obviously take great pleasure in having guests, and while they are lovely people, we were wanting a getaway where we could be a little more anonymous.
Well presented and located. The owners a delight and very helpful with local info, their recommendation for diner was outstanding at Art et Gourmet! Rooftop terrace relaxing and shares magnificent views of water and medina. A wonderful stop after traveling most of the day from Fes.
Loved the whole experience. The owners were friendly, helpful and made a fabulous breakfast.
I likes it all.
The hosts were very warm and welcoming and could not have been more helpful. The Dar had been completely renovated to very high standards and the rooms and common areas were all excellent in terms of size and facilities. We only stayed the one night and had to leave early the next morning. Michele and Dominic helped us with all our arrangements and put on a wonderful (early) breakfast for us before we departed.
The owners were friendly and very hospitable. The view from the rooftom terrace was spectacular and the food was great. The rooms were comfrtable.
Probably one of the best boutique hotels / B&Bs we have ever stayed in. We loved it and Tangier and will be returning
