Wonderful place, great hosts, Michelle & Dominique, staff fantastic! Wonderful rooms, great attention to details, quality fittings and bed really comfortable. Breakfast superb and the rooftop setting is second to none. Did not stay long enough to try our their massage and spa treatments but will be going for that next time we visit. No negative points at all.

This boutique hotel is located literally steps away from the historical Kasbah district within, and at the upper end of the Medina. Its in a quite but perfect location for walking around the old town and port/harbour area. If you arrive by taxi its a very short walk including down some stairs from where the taxi drops you off (Michele will email you a map with the square marked where the taxi should go to - she also provides a walking route from the ferry port if you are going for a few days only and travelling light as we did (leaving main luggage at train station in Spain) Our French owner/hosts Michelle and Dominique were wonderful - lovely couple and extremely helpful. Also, the local Moroccan staff Zubair, Bushhar and Ishar (sorry if spelling incorrect but this is how there are pronounced!) were very friendly, always smiling and checking you had what you needed. The breakfast was delicious - lots of things to try - local and English - served directly to your table and more than we could eat. Michele was always very pleased to help with recommendations and advice - nothing was too much trouble - where to eat for traditional Morroccon meal, where to get good quality leather goods, recommending a taxi driver, checking on ferry timetables, etc. Interior decoration and architectural style of the hotel is traditional Morroccon with Michele's flare in decorating and attention into detail. Many beautiful paintings and objects in the common areas and bed rooms and very comfy beds - top quality mattresses, pillows, sheets, doonas etc. and quality bathroom fittings. Spotlessly clean. Also a number of cosy sitting areas incluidng one with a library of books including picture ones of areas in Morocco. Check out their website - its even better in real life! The view from the rooftop where there is a terrace, where breakfast is served when warm and fine enough, is one of the best you can get in Tangier. Cant think of anything.

The owners were wonderful people, friendly, concerned, and helpful in every way. In addition, the room was spacious, comfortable, and a great place to relax with a glass of wine (and snacks provided by the owners).

Just absolutely everything; but specifically: Perfect hospitality Perfect service Perfect food Perfect quality and specification of rooms Beautiful taste and style Perfect setting Utterly enchanting Fantastic warm welcome Incredible attention to detail Service unobtrusive yet incredibly personal Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Anyone who picks faults with this hotel and its owners, Michele and Dominic, wants their heads examined and surely could not be satisfied anywhere.

Dar Chams Tanja is a delightful riad and I would strongly recommend it to anyone visiting Tangier. The location is excellent, in the northern part of the medina. The owner, Dominic, and his staff were kind and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay a memorable one. The room is large, clean and well equipped and the breakfasts and evening meals were excellent. Nothing!

The staff are very friendly, the hotel interier is beautiful. The veiw from all the rooms is terrible, and in bad weather the rooms and resturant are very cold, there is no atmosphere in the hotel so you need to go out, I wish I had of stayed at the five star I first looked at as the facilities at Dar Chams tanja are very poor, and it was more money to stay here.WE Left a day early because of this.

Beautifull decor, very nice people. The breakfast is cooked in the hour for each guest and is delicious. The heating is a little weak for winter periods, making the rooms somehow less comfortable.

We truly had a magical time staying 2 nights at Dar Chams Tanja. This boutique hotel is located literally steps away from the historical Kasbah district within Medina and in a perfect location for walking around the town. Our hosts Michelle and Dominique are such a lovely couple and extrmely helpful. Also, Moroccan staff of the hotel were very friendly and always smiling. The breakfast was delicious and served in "good old style," bringing the dishes one by one (little French twist added)Also, we had a great authentic Moroccan dinner in a beautiful ambience with decorated table and candles. We highly recommend to arrange a dinner if you are staying there for few days. For the guests with small children, there is a small but nice playing room, which our 5 years old son enjoyed. Interior decoration and architectural style of the hotel are simply beautiful with attention into details. Many beautiful paintings and objects in the common areas and bed rooms. The view from the rooftop is one of the best you can get in Tangier. Simply, no better place to stay in Tangier than Dar Chams Tanja! Really nothing.

The hotel itself was an oasis of luxury close to the markets of Tangier. The rooms and lobby were clean and spacious and decorated with a touch of class that set them apart. The host and hostess were special indeed. They made us feel comfortable immediately and helped with lunch and dinner reservations. We would go back in a heart beat.

its a small hotel with less than ten rooms but their service and quality is better than a five star hotel. The rooms are very clean, neat and tidy. The owners of the house serve you and help you out. I definitely recommend Dar Chams Hotel for any person that will go to Tangier because you will have the real experience of how these people live because you will live in their neighborhood. The road to reach to that place is very narrow and difficult since its in the heart of the old city

Just about everything Not their fault but your booking info neglected to have the optional (0) in the hotel phone number - this caused some stress when the taxi driver could not find it and we could not get through on phone - I had to call my girlfriend in the UK to ask her to check hotel website and get the 0 option. Calling mobile numbers in Morocco does not need a 0 bit landlines do. So you increased my taxi costs and my phone bill should be interesting - long call to UK and half a dozen calls to hotel, 5 of which were incorrect code from your booking form. Hotel were faultless in every way.

This guesthouse was amazing... 5 stars indeed! It was located in the heart of the "Medina" where a lot of tourists are sure to want to visit if not to see the "old city" but to also do some shopping! Michele and Dominic do an amazing job to make you feel "at home". You will not be disappointed booking this amazing home away from home! We booked a room with two single beds with the intention of pushing them together when we got there. Michele asked me about my booking via email prior to our arrival and made sure we wanted that room. I explained the situation and upon our arrival, they had already push the beds together for us! Perhaps it was because we were on our honeymoon that they went the extra mile but we were truly grateful!

Spendid Hotel, with excellent service and gorgeous decoration. You can see that Michelle and Dominique have been in all minimum details of the design and deco from the hotel. The owners are always ready to hlep you with directions and events in Tanger. Didnt have time to check the bibliotheque but the area invites to read and transport yourself to old Tanger times. Fantastic breakfast served on the terrace with fruits, juices, yoghurt, homemade bread and cakes. Just a pleasure to enjoy with the Tanger view. Special mention to the linens of the room, pure egyptian cotton, to sleep like a diva. Sure we will be back!!

This riad is an oasis in the tangled maze of the medina. Difficult to find but your efforts will be rewarded. The owners speak French but we communicated well between our high school French and their broken English. The building has been completely renovated and decore is beautiful. Pictures on their website does not do it justice. Best part is the gastronomic breakfast on the roof terrace which is included in the rate. You can't beat this place at any price and Tangiers has many much more expensive places to stay.

I can't say one bad thing about Dar Chams Tanja. From the moment we (3 weary travellers fresh off the ferry from Tarifa) showed up at the front door, the hosts were extremely welcoming and helpful. The riad is in the old part of Tangier, but it is brand new construction in a traditional Moroccan style. Even before we were taken to our room, our hosts brewed a pot of mint tea and invited us to relax and unwind in the common living room. They were able to answer all of our questions about what we should see and do during our brief stay in Tangier, recommended a fantastic restaurant for dinner, and provided us with a map of the city. The room was extremely comfortable, and I have no doubt that we slept on the best mattress in Tangier. Breakfast was provided on the rooftop in the morning and consisted of an assortment of breads, jams, honey, eggs, and fresh squeezed orange juice. The hosts were also gracious enough to store our luggage while we explored the city and to provide us with a bottle of wine for the overnight train to Marrakech! Please be sure to read the email from Dar Chams Tanja regarding their location, as Google maps provides the wrong address and location, and are apparently unwilling to correct it. There is not one thing I disliked about Dar Chams Tanja and I will definitely stay there again!

We loved everything! The room was fantastic; nothing was too much trouble; taxi pick ups and drop-offs were great; guided walking tour was fantastic. And the evening meal on the roof terrace overlooking the city was unforgettable. All in all a great stay...we will return.

Extremely friendly and helpful owners and staff. Located within the Kasbah and perfect for visiting and atmosphere. Breakfast was tremendous with a variety of egg based produce, dates, pancakes, three types of bread (including one which appeared to be pistachio based), fruit, etc. all served on the glorious rooftop terrace. Room clean with great shower room area, air conditioned, and small view of harbour/beach. Tangier is still a great and intimidating visit although try and avoid Tangier Med the new port some 54km from actual Tangier city!! Slihghtly difficult to find, even the taxi driver (from Tangier Mer) struggled even with the aid of our detailed map. Set evening repas limited however good quality, and there are numerous places to eat nearby.

If a person or persons is going to Tangier, they really would enjoy the Dar Chams, in fact that would be the only place that I would have stayed..abounded with charm, security, and outstanding hospitality and service.....I personally could NOT imagine staying elsewhere.. Th owners, Michelle and Dominique were so, so warm and attentive...and the complete breakfast ( 8-10 items w/unlimited coffee) on the terrace (top floor , 5th) over seeing the city, WOW...you gotta stay to believe... the rooms, unbelievable truly, ( AC a good one also) , the BEST... DO NOT hestitate to book this charming place, w/good folks, they made reservations, called cabs etc...called tour guides, all of which were very trust worthy....

Absolutely everything is perfect about this hotel and the lovely couple Michele and Dominic who run the place. You would be crazy not to stay in a Riad during your stay in Morocco, and crazy again not to try Dar Charms that has not only the best hospitality but also the best view from the amazing terasse. Don't waste time looking for hotel, try this one. You won't regret it and it might just be the highlight of your trip.

The hotel is a small boutique hotel, run by the husband/wife owners who treated us like guests in their home. From the moment we walked in and were offered hot mint tea to the wonderful, home like prepared local dishes, breakfast on the roof top overlooking Tangier, the service was exceptional. The hotel, only a few years old, is wonderfully designed and decorated in true Casbah style. The rooms, although fully modern in appointments, gave us the feeling of old Tangier. We loved it! What gave Dar Chams Tanja it's charm also was also it's, for me , negative. Sitting immediately on the edge of the Casbah, I was reluctant to want to go out and explore in the evening.

Owners were very friendly and nice - offering tea and conversation when arriving, although limited English. Housekeepter was wonderful - took our 2 heavy bags up 3 floors! Location good - if interested in the Old Town, although it would have been very difficult to find. No cars or taxis can get within 2 blocks. I strongly suggest getting a guide to meet you and get you orientated the 1st day. We used Latif Chebaa.(fisittangier AT gmail) -- tell him Opal says Hi. Inexpensive and decent English. Get map at hotel, although still hard to get around in Old Town with only narrow alleys. Hotel very clean and boutique style. Rooms very nice and good views. Excellent breakfast (on top terrace on good days). Good bed. Streets (narrow and walking only) could be a bit dodgey in evening, especially if a single woman. The hotel is an oasis in a dirty, but very interesting, city. Construction on remodeling of next door roof was noisy from 9 to 5. It is expensive - but wanted good quality in unknown city. The shower (no tub) was large, but no curtain so some (not much) water went on bath floor if not careful. A clear curtain would help. If you cannot walk well - it is not for you as many stairs to get to hotel as well as inside.
