It is absolutely lovely....felt authentic and quaint. Very clean and modern bathroom. Would return in a heartbeat. Excellent value.

The medina is beautiful, the colours are amazing, very different from many other cities. The people were very friendly too, safe to walk around at night and the scenery is stunning. I would highly reccommend this town!

We liked everything: position just outside the medina with convenient parking nearby, big and clean room (we stayed in a suite), very good food for breakfast as well as for dinner. Staff was nice and helpful providing directions. Hotel was easy to reach by car. One of the best places we stayed in Morocco.

The hotel has a beautiful oriental style decoration. It is located a five- minute walk from the medina. The staff was very nice and helpful. The breakfast was also very nice.

We really loved everything. We missed perhaps a lamp for reading. The ones we had in the room were lovely, good for creating atmosphere but gave a weak light.

Fantastic!!!! We had the suite on the top floor which was stunning. Staff were lovely and the hotel itself is lovely. Nice communal areas with fabulous breakfast. Great value, our suite was €79 a night with breakfast. Great location, by the mountains but also just on the edge of the medina

A beautiful hotel on the outskirts of the city, yet only a 10min walk from the center.

The only issue was the use of 2 twin beds instead of a full.

Nicely located on top of Chefchaouen overviewing the whole small town, the Tagine there with prunes was the best I had over my 2 weeks in Morocco, and so is the pastila.

Very pleasant hotel well worth the price. Excellent location for access to Chefchaouen medina (a lovely characterful town). Food was also very good and very reasonably priced.

Swimming pool water colour was not inviting. Rooms a little on the small side.

A charming blue Dar, in blue city of Chefchaouen. The location is fine, with an enjoyable walk into the main part of the city. The restaurant was fine. Wifi connection ok. We stayed in the family room which was quite cozy, and made me feel i was one of the flintstones living in bedrock.

Breakfast didn't have much variety outside of bread, but this seems farily common for most guesthouses we stayed in.

The setting, facilities and friendly staff

This hotel was perfectly located on the edge of this mountain city, offering stunning views for every room and chalet overlooking the terracing old town, only a five minute walk away. There was not a more romantic place we stayed at during our 3-week Spain-Morocco vacation. There as a modest swimming pool located on its own terrace flat, a filling and delicious continental breakfast, numerous gorgeous sitting areas sprinkled about, the chalets each had sizable balconies, well maintained buildings and grounds, and a quietness that felt more like a remote spa than an urban hotel. For the money ($65 a night for a chalet room) it is one of the best deals in the region, at least on our trip route.

Nope! Nothing to complain about. My wife, who is always fussy, had only word of praise.

A great location close to the medina with great views over the town. The room was comfortable and came with a mini-fridge. The lounge area around the pool and garden are nice.

The door to our room did not work unless using the key to open the door; handle didn't work. The beside lamp didn't work. One of the lights in the bathroom was burnt out our entire 3 night stay. The plumbing is really loud, as soon as another room uses the toilet, shower, or sink you hear it. The drain in the shower didn't work very well and the sink tap was falling off. The walls are extremely thin and you hear all the comings and goings. This is too bad, as the exterior grounds are very well maintained. The pool was very foggy and we didn't ever see it bring cleaned. Breakfast was not on par with other places in this range, no fruit, yogurt, or eggs. There was local goats cheese that was nice. ,

good location, friendly staff. lot of activities availables (swimming pool, massage for a very good price, trekking routes...). we travelled with our 6 years old daughter and didn't need to arrange a folding bed, since the beed was widely enough for three people. definitely, highly recommended in summer periods.

no alcohol drinks availables, the breakfast could have comprised some proteins (e.g. omelette) and some salty tastes

The hotel has a very nice garden where you can have dinner and relax. As it is Ramadan period, it has been impossibile to drink wine during our meal... The swimming pool is clean. The hotel is 5 minutes walk from the center of the old town.

We had to carry the most of our luggages up to the room that was at the second floor... There were a lot of mosquitos, it is necessary the Autan! There was a rooster nearby that crowded all night, together with some dogs that barked.

The food... Their "tagins" are awfully dry and tasteless. The informations at the desk for a simple ride in the country or mountainside are very poor and mostly incorrect... For instance: the ride to the higher Akchour cascad is said to be very easy and rather short (1 h 1/2 according to them...) well, it is rather difficult (you must have good walking shoes, it is but a succession of ups and downs, some of them really steep and sometimes slippery, with grits, but you can overcome this. Not recommended by no means however to children under 15 or grand-parents over 70....). The 1h1/2 walk in fact takes 2h 1/2 and is really challenging, believe me. The ride is nevertheless worthwhile.

The staff were some of the friendliest, most helpful and professional of any staff I have encountered in any hotel in any country. The complimentary breakfasts were superb, everything fresh and home-made. The location is hard to beat. It is right at the edge of the historic "blue village" section of the town. The hotel itself is very tastefully designed and decorated, and the rooms are equally attractive. If you are not traveling with a guide, or with a tour group, and you only speak English, you are probably not going to even find your way to Chefchaouen. But as long as you can speak basic French or Spanish you should be okay. My wife and I traveled there on our own, relying on my French and Spanish, but it was a real luxury to be able to speak fluent English with the staff at Dar Echchaouen.

On one of our two nights there, a nearby rooster crowed nearly the entire night, which made sleeping without earplugs difficult. That is something I think the hotel management should seriously consider. It is the only complaint I have about Dar Echchaouen, but it's an important one.

Located within a 5-minute walk from the waterfall on the foot of the Rif Mountains, Dar Echchaouen is a beautiful, quiet, hotel that provided one of the most pleasant stays during our time in Morocco. The hotel rooms are extremely bright and provide a surprising array of creature comforts while maintaining a traditional Moroccan feel. The pool, although drained when we visited, looks like a great place to hang out on a hot afternoon and there is plenty of shaded and unshaded lounging space. Breakfast is a highlight here - particularly their black olive spread that we weren't offered anywhere else during our trip.

Morocco is not a country recommended for anyone in a hurry but the Hotel Staff at Dar Echchaouen were among the slowest we encountered during a multi-city tour of the country. While Hotel Staff were friendly, expect any encounter with the front desk to be a frustrating experience and give yourself plenty of time to check-in, check-out, and make travel arrangements.
