A stunning riad with top class food, antique furnishings. Staff excellent. The access streets to the riad are filthy, as is much of Fes.

Prachtig.

The breakfast, the two workers (yellow uniforms) and the location. The hotel was deserted when we were there, and felt desolate. There was not adequate lighting, and one of our group fell on an unexpected step and hit his head and shoulder on a pillar before sprawling on the ground. Very lucky not to have been worse. The owner did not inspire trust. For example, he arranged a guide for us yet a second guide showed up as well. The guide did not have a badge (but somehow found it later that morning) and when asked he assured us the guide was legal. At the end of the day the agreed upon price (with hotel discount) was nearly doubled by the guide and we did not have redress. When I told the owner of this, he just repeated the discounted price and did not apologize. The driver he arranged from the train station was 5x the price of a taxi. We had been directed to this hotel by a friend who had loved it 8 years ago -- it has decayed in the meantime.
