It's not just an incredibly beautiful place to stay at, the service was so amazing. I got sick in Fes, so I tried to stay there for more nights but it was all full. So Lawrence called every place so I could find a place to stay and even walked with me to another place. She walked me to a really nice restaurant, too. Also when i got lost in medina, I called Ahmed and he even picked me up where i was! I honestly didn't feel comfortable at another place i stayed at, so i called Lawrence for some help, and they even dropped by at my new hotel to check up on me if i was ok, brought me some medication. They were just such genuinely nice people and i wish i could go back there to thank them and also spend more time at a lovely place. Stay there and your time in Fes will become even more fantastic! :)
The riad is located at the top of a hill that overlooks the narrow streets of Fez. It is very quiet and relaxing just to sit back at the terrace and wacth the busy city go by. Our room on the top floor was very specious with high quality interior and bed linens. The staff is extremel helpful and super nice and are ready to assist with any needs. We could even use the kitchen to prepare a dinner for ourselves that we ate at the terrace. This riad is highly recommended as it is a very good value for money deal. Thank you again!!
That we stayed only for 2 nights :)
A bit hidden inside the Medina, which made it all the more interesting, this place was the highlight of my trip to Morocco. Charming staff, beautifully decorated and sober, with a lovely terrace, great breakfast, and few rooms, made it really feel like home. Loved it.
Beatiful place allowing people to live the experience of the medina. Rashid and Ahmed give you a very good service as well as directions to do everything by yourself within the medina. Ask them in advance to go looking for you at Rcif stop to make it easier the arrival.
Every thing ok. Thanks to Rashid and Ahmed.
I was so happy to stay at Dar Gnaoua. The Dar was nicely decorated and quiet residential area. The room was cozy with A/C and small windows that I could see a beautiful view of Fes. It has a rooftop too where you can just relax and have a breakfast, with amazing view. And I must mention Ahmed who helped me throughout my stay. He picked me up at Bab Rcif, and explained very well how to reach to the Dar. (it's quite complicated, he explains everything, no worries) I had to leave the Dar very early morning around 6:30am, but he also woke up and prepared a breakfast for me, and carried my luggage to Bab Rcif to get me a taxi. If I ever go back to Fes, I definitely stay here again.
The slight bad point is very week wifi in the room and there is a shower but no toilet (just outside the room). But these are just very minor issues.
Perfect management and staff, beautiful views, great bed, good location in the Medina. Ahmed is perfect!
The bathroom being separate to the Royal suite was not the most comfortable. They should knock through the wall and join it to the main room.
Amazing place, staff are so helpful and go way above what's expected. We felt so well looked after here. Breakfast was wonderful and the view from the roof terrace is spectacular! Amazing place and such a welcoming atmosphere!
The renovations and the beautiful decor was superb. The rooftop and view outstanding and breakfast on the roof, weather permitting was delightful. The breakfast and the service were outstanding and so helpful. The area was very quiet and I felt safe. The care and attention to tidy the room each day was lovely. Thank you for a most pleasant 6 days.
The fact that I couldn't obtain wifi in my room, particularly in the late evening when I would sit on the steps to get access. I was in the Blue Room and I know it was advertised as only available in public areas. But it did make it less appealing. Location although great, often had difficulty finding at times.
We had a very nice stay in Dar Gnaoua. Apart from the very nice riad, friendly owners, good breakfast and nice location, the owners have put up signs in the city showing the direction of Dar Gnaoua. This is a lifesaver in Fes!!!
The Google Map in Booking.com doesn't show the exact location of the hotel (it's actually a nicer location than on the map). Check the Dar Gnaoua website for an accurate map!
In a quiet qnd peaceful part of the medina but close to Place Rcif. The care and service by Achmet and Rachid was excellent with clear instructions and directions. Great to have a bath at end of day in beautifully renovated riad. the breakfast was excellent , especially the yoghurt and the view from the terrace was wonderful.
Might be a problem for people with no french.
Dar Gnaoua was the best place that we stayed in on our trip to Morocco. The hosts were helpful without being imposing. The rooms were lovely and it was an extremely peaceful place to stay
That we didn't stay longer
Loved every little bit of this Riad! Its the perfect place to stay while visiting Fes. The hospitality is at its best and you will feel like home or even more comfortable. It was just perfect and I got more than what i paid for. I will definitely stay there on my next trip to Fes.
Very attentive staff. Do not push their own guides or extra services, unless asked for. They meet you at the old city gates and guide you to their door which would be impossible to find otherwise. Breakfast on the terrace was wonderful
Stayed in various riads in Morocco during a 10-day holiday and Dar Gnaoua tops the list vis-a-vis location, quality and character of the riad and the hospitality of the team, specially Rashid. The room I and my friend booked opens up to the terrace and the interior takes you back in time. The bed was very comfortable and so were the pillows. Dar Gnaoua highlighted the true ancient Maroc experience well-situated in the Old Fes Medina. Merci beaucoup once again to Rashid who has helped us with our luggage (it was a no-joke walk from the riad to the parking area), for preparing breakfast and for extending his assistance as best as he could.
Amazing view from the terrace! The service at this riad was excellent. The host Ahmad, nothing was too much trouble for him and he made my short stay very comfortable and enjoyable.
The terrace view is amazing. Good breakfast and friendly staff.
The heating is not very efficient, so it may be a bit cold in winter.
Amazing little dar in the very heart of medina! Rachid and Ahmad were very polite and helpful, speaking great French. Ahmed made me very tasty breakfast in the morning, and he set it up on their terasse which has magnificent view of the medina! The room was cozy, very clean and friendly. Truly an authentic experience. I recommend it for all who are tired of worn-out and sad hotels with bad service - this is the place to be!!
Owner was nice and very helpful, the place is nice and the view from the terrace is beautiful.
I had to cancel a night and they made me pay for it even though the place was empty. I would understand if they were full and had to turn other bookings away but since they were empty and it never cost them anything I feel that they could have been more reasonable.
Wonderful staff who took care of all of our needs, gave useful advice and lugged suitcases up the hill into the city. Ahmed is simply a great host. Lovely views from the window of our room and on the terrace, elegant decor.
Bed was large and attractive, but the mattress was a little lumpy.
View. Stay here, it doesn't get any better. Get the rooftop terrace view room.
Breakfast could be better.
We had great two nights in the Dar Gnaoua, mostly because of the great host Ahmed, who was very friendly and cared alot about our wellbeing. Our room was good and clean, as was the bathroom. We had our room next to the terasse, which was the highlight of the riad. You have a beatiful view from there in the morning our at night. The breakfast has been nothing special, but totally ok and tasty. You could use the nice kitchen for cooking, the riad itself has a nice maroccian flair.
The shower was just within the bathroom, so after showering it was floated. Furthermore there is no door but only a curtain between room and bathroom, which is typical for a riad, but nevertheless no that comfortable. Finally, the location of the riad is not easy to find and the narrow and poor enlighted streets are not allways comfortable to walk. Especially in the dark we had mixed feelings walking the streets to our Riad.
The service was excellent. It's clean, with all you need. A nice house inside the Medina. A place to discover if you realy want to try the complete experience
Kind difficult to find the Riad if you start from the Main door.
very friendly service
a lot of steps
