tayed here for 4 nights this January. The place was cozy, sparkling clean and beautifully decorated. Finding the place was no problem as the manager met us at the taxi drop off and led us through the streets. The location of the riad is perfect - very central to main monuments, shopping streets, market areas, etc. - while still being quiet and peaceful inside. A great combination! Breakfast is excellent and different from the others. However, it is the managers that really make this dar excellent. Because we arrived on a chilly day, they made sure our room was fitted with extra blankets and the heat was turned up in our room prior to arrival. They also got our laundry done efficiently. One other scenario also speaks to how excellent the staff are: before arriving in morocco I caught a cold and stomach bug. After a few days of still not getting better, the manager helped make arrangements for me to visit a doctor and the night manager even accompanied me to make sure the communication was good with the doctor in hospital. Clearly above and beyond the call of duty. Overall, an excellent and beautiful place with kind and generous managers!
We were welcomed by a very nice host and received a room with traditional arrangement. Even if we stayed only one night and had to leave early in the morning the host made us a big package with great tasting Moroccan food. Was a really nice experience and have nothing to complain about.
The host is friendly and offers great pros and cons of things to do, and assistance foreigners might need to have an enjoyable stay. Value of the room is excellent. They upgraded our room for free as they did not have another guest booked. It was spacious, decked out in the classic Moroccan styles, and had nice hot water. Breakfast was incredible if you like bread--so many delicious different types of carbs! You can walk to all the main spots within 30 minutes, are close to the "easy" tourist restaurants (and can easily navigate to them yourself). Fully recommended!
We didn't have an issue with this, but as you are staying in the Medina, you are close neighbors to other families; you can hear noise from the street and next door. There were no noise problems after 7pm, so it did not bother us.
Very hospitable owner Fantastic breakfast spread Location - its in the very center so be prepared to embrace the hustle and bustle of one of the oldest Medinas in the world.
Slightly difficult to get to because you cannot take cars into the Medina but once you see your hotel, you really are in the center of Fez which is exhilirating
I was a solo traveller and stayed at Dar Hafsa for 4 nights.. I highly recommend it to other travellers! Karin and his team really take care of all their guests' needs, including advice on the best places to eat, where to go and what to do/not to do. They made me feel totally welcome and comfortable in Fes and I wouldn't hesitate to stay with them again. Also the house is absolutely beautiful!
All went well for our first time in Fes, Morocco thanks to everyone at Dar Hafsa. Great day trips planned by Abdul and delicious breakfasts every day served with a smile.
A very beautiful dar in an excellent location in the medina with a charming and very hospitable host who clearly cares about keeping his guests happy. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time at the Dar Hafsa The place is comfortable with a Moroccan style. The owners are very nice people, they made everything to make us fell like home. I would definitely recommend the Dar Hafsa for your staying at Fes.
Dar Hafsa is excellent value with an outstanding host who makes you feel as though you get a real insight into life in this fascinating city. Abdul organised a guide, day trips and a taxi to the airport in a professional and very helpful way and nothing was too much trouble. The riad is lovely. The top room near the terrace offers privacy and glimpses of the mountains. Cannot recommend enough.
Hosts were amazing! Picked us up at Blue Gate, gave us recommendations on what to do and where to eat and organised a wonderful tour guide for us. The house was great too. Air conditioning worked (must have in Fes) and the best shower in all of Morocco. The breakfast was a feast of Moroccan breads and pastries as well as mint tea. Such a great stay and would go back in a heartbeat.
Beautiful family riad in medina
The owner has a deal with everyone he recommends, receiving a commission for everyone he sends their way. This is true of his dinner recommendation, which was both expensive and not a real restaurant but the food was good. Also he will charge an extra 5% for credit cards.
I decided to stay at Dar Hafsa b'c of reviews I had seen and it did not disappoint! The riad is very well located, extremely reasonably priced, and clean, but what really makes this place truly special is the owner, Karim. Karim went out of his way to make sure we were well taken care of by helping to arrange side trips, inviting us for dinner with the family, and even ensuring we were able to make an exchange on a purchase we weren't quite happy with. The whole family is lovely, hospitable, and warm. I promise you won't be disappointed if you stay here.
The beds were comfortable and clean, and the staff was helpful. One must remember this is Morocco, and not a European 5 star. It is noisy from the surrounding family homes, but we liked being a part of the community and hearing life around us.
It was very dark, but that is to be expected in the medina. Also, because of the interior windows with shutters, there is little privacy and one must whisper so as to not disturb other guests.
Dar = House, Riad = Renovated house with garden and usually a pool. The family who run Dar Hafsa are incredbly nice and very genuine. Kamir will tell you exactly what you can do in Fez, what you should pay for things, and any advice you seek. There is a rooftop terrace with a beautiful view of the Medina. The interior is well decorated in a traditional Moroccan style.
