Food was OK - not great but OK. Due to it being winter there was a limited number of options to eat out, but that was just the time of year.
I am sure there are modern hotels that have all kinds of technology in the rooms, that other people will say are better then this hotel, but the reality is this is a traditional Moroccan hotel in an amazing location that the staff make really special. After spending time in Marrakech and Ait Ben Haddou, this is an amazing contrast. You do not get hassled, you are treated like gods and the location takes your breath away. Our rooms were huge, had comfy and warm beds, with great views. The food is better than any other meal we ate in Morocco (we went to some 5* places). It is a set menu, but they can accommodate dietary requirements and offer this each time. They organised a car at the airport and the driver was brilliant. My Mum is not good with heights, so he drove at a good speed and proved what an amazing driver he really is (the roads are missing in places!) All in all, this is an amazing hotel and I would happily tell friends, family and complete strangers to stay here!
The location is stunning as well as the view we had from our beautiful room. The room has under floor heating and a balcony facing the mountains. We really enjoyed the hiking with Rashid, a local guide.
The common areas are, as usually in Morocco, pretty cold in winter time, but during the dinner the fireplace was on.
The mountain views. The free upgrade as the hotel was quiet. Very helpful Hassan.
The views are amazing from this Riad. It is a homely place with friendly staff in a traditional village. You realise you're in a real Moroccan situation The food was really good too and we had a lot of fun! Ideal for hikers
If you're expecting a Hotel then don't stay here as this is like a home. And the journey getting there is quite windy and long.
Location and views.
Wonderful staff, great food, great rooms and lovely place.
Percolator had leftover stinky milk in it.
location, mountain view, helpful staff, tasty dinner,
Some good views, especially at night with the full moon. Small pool for cooling off.
Everything in room and hotel old or 'rustic' but not comfortable. Curtains had holes in them and stains. Running the gauntlet in the village.
Lovely room with great views from the balcony. Excellent meals. Friendly staff.
It's location, but the best part is the service, Hassan and the rest of his colleagues played the best part to make the place exclusive to every guest!! Amazing !
The staff were great! There was always someone around to answer any questions and assist when needed. They organised a great guide for us for a two day hiking trip to Jebel Toubkal, and put together a fantastic packed lunch. One of us has very specific food requirements because of a number of allergies. The hotel's kitchen made special request meals twice for us that were perfect. And the breakfasts were great - very tasty and lots of variety. In the mornings we'd come down to the nice quiet dining area and minutes later the coffee and bread and crepes would appear.
Only negative was the WiFi would cut in and out, and wasn't available in our room.
The mule trek to berber village through the mountains and the hike with guide to adjacent berber villages. We particularly liked the locals on their mules through the village daily.
Imlil a bit of a culture shock to begin with but we soon embraced all including the butcher shop with meat and animals head hanging outside!
Amazing view from room
Good base for walks and discovering the Atlas mountains. Nice views from the room. The ground floor rooms are basic but nice and comfortable. Dinner was lovely and staff helpful and friendly
The staff could not be more helpful in looking after us and arranging guides and Mules to help us explore the mountains and nearby Berber villages.
The location of this riad is excellent and the quality of food was really good, especially the evening meal. The organisation of the taxi and the trek was good too.
We booked a superior room but were disappointed for the price. The room was very basic and we soon discovered our sheets hadn't been changed or floors cleaned. The only toiletries provided was shampoo and this remained empty throughout our stay. For the price we would have expected the wow factor which we didn't get. Outside our room there were a huge amount of wasps which meant we couldn't sit out and nobody seemed too bothered to deal with them. The service was abrupt at times and we felt we had to ask for everything rather than the manager check if we needed anything. Overall an average place to stay that is overpriced.
Waking up to the sound of the mountain stream, with the sub glistening off the snow-capped summit of the highest mountain in Africa. And with all the comforts you would expect of a five-star hotel....
We were upgraded to a better room on the top floor for the same price. The room was very nice and warm (compared to most rooms we stayed in Maroc). The tajin for dinner was just great and breakfast too. The people in the hotel were very friendly
Beautiful setting and such a relaxing place to stay. The room we were in (no 9) was lovely with a stunning view of the snow covered mountains.
We loved our stay at Dar Imlil it is a rustic hotel perfect for trekking in the Atlas Mountains. The staff were friendly and gentle they made us so welcome with a mint tea on our arrival and always happy to help in any way they could. When shown to our room it was lovely and spacious with underfloor heating which made it so warm and cosy as we visited in February. There was also a beautiful big bath and lots of hot water which was perfect after a day walking in the mountains. The evening meal was wholesome Moroccan home cooking. Dinner was served by the fire and the space was so sociable we met two other couples which added to our whole experience. I cannot really fault this hotel no it is not five star luxury but when you come in exhausted from a days walking it provides everything you could possibly want.
I think the only thing I would say is from the road it is difficult to recognise the hotel from the pictures provided.
Very good starting point if you want to explore the mountains. It´s a tipical mountain hotel but really comfortable and very well equiped. The staff is nice and helpful and the breakfast it´s great!
View from the room was incredible, we stayed in the standard double. The evening meal was worth every penny, so tasty, with 3 generous courses.
