Score from 97 reviews Very good
It is difficult to find this riad since is located in the tangle of narrow streets of the old town of Fés. But if you call to the riad, they will pick you up.
Breakfast were the Marocain ones, which is good to get a grasp on local culture. The big lounge area is also nice. And the best is the family athmosphere and helpful owners.
Not very clean!
close to the Medina and all the action
It is a traditional, big and old house what means no heating for the winter;I'm from Teruel (Spain) and I live in Poland so temperature was ok for me, but at the same time there was a family from Oman and I think they sleep with their coats. You share the house with the owners so don't expect a private bathroom only for you. If you don't want to enjoy the real life at a Fez house don't go there.
Over any other thing the best at Dar Lahnin is the family who rules it. They take care of you in any possible way. Ayoub, the young man in charge, is a polity, easy going, nice, servicial and resolutive person who helped me and advice me for every single thing. At Dar Lahnin you can enjoy the daily life of a Fes' family, you live with them at the house. The breakfast was really good and I could enjoy as much tea as I wanted. One night I had my dinner there too and it was good too. Ayoub also arranged my field trips and my departure late in the night. The best I can say is that I'll be back for sure.
Loved the service and hospitality, best service ever, the family are very friendly and help us around didnt need to book any tour guide the family will look after you in every possible way. They will ensure you dont get ripped off and saved us lots of money when out shopping. Good to gave a local with lots of knowledge
I just cannot say anything negative because it was simply perfect!!!!!
It was the best stay ever. You could never find anything better than this, trust me. In Dar Lahnin one can feel as in family, not in a hostel, which makes the trip even more wonderful. We had a chance to meet many new amazing people and to try traditional food of Fez, which is very tasty. We are very grateful for the owner for those two awesome days that we spent in this hostel. We will probable won't be able to find any better hostel than this!!!! Thanks a lot!!!! If we are in Fez one more time again, we will definitely choose this hostel as we were safe and taken care of all the time! The best of the bests!!!!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!
Cold in the night, very hard to find the place.
Great food, nice owners ready to help.
Its cold at night in winter, so bring your warm pjs'
The owners were so helpful with helping us find the place, they went above and beyond to make sure we travelled around safely.
Bad position. Not clean. No hot water. Very cold in the night without heating. Impossible to find it and to go out when is dark. We were the only ones in the "hostel" (it is a family house).
The owner of the place is the kindest person you'll find in Morocco. He picked us up and took to the hotel when we first arrived and at night he offered himself to picked us up again at the souk entrance to take us to the hotel. The breakfast was OUTSTANDING, and the place is really, really beautiful. One of the nicest places I've been, totally recommended.
Is a wonderful place, we felt like at home, they took care of us like a family. The food is amazing and abundant. With breakfast is possible arrive to the dinner! Perfect position in the old Medina, not easy to find at first, but they come to pick up everywhere and always. I suggest them to everybody wants to live real marocco... In harmony...
Breakfast of kings, we felt home, the owner come at station and pick up us for free, it looks like you stay with a family...thanks for the welcome!we will remind you forever
hard to find it for the first time by your own, and those faux guides will rip you off for showing the way, and our guide had hard time finding it cause he was always saying its not his area :D we ordered official guide through them later, and it was ok, but the guide was kinda showing us various tourist places and shops when we wanted to see local life and things and not the fancy tourist space.
best traditional breakfast we had in morroco, the only downside that there were no orange juice but there were lots of pancakes, cottage cheese, eggs and plenty of other stuff. Host was helpful even though sometimes the prices of the things looked overboosted.
This family run riad was absolutely fantastic. The rooms are large and airy and the central courtyard is such a pleasant surprise after the narrow lanes of the medina. We got up early to watch the sun rise from the rooftop terrace which was was a magical experience and thorougly enjoyed the large moroccan breakfasts. What really stands out about this riad is the friendliness of the staff; they met us at the CTM bus station to lead us to the hostel and came out in the evening to make sure we hadn't got lost. We Also had some delicious freshly squeezed orange juice prepared by the owner's mum after a sweaty day traipsing around the medina.
One shared toilet for whole riad. Difficult to find (as are most riads in the medina).
Nice staff. Large room. Welcoming family.
The family were extremely friendly and accommodating during our stay. The facilities were great and the beds comfy. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, highly recommend!
Completely all. Stay here is to experience an authentic Moroccan family.
- well, bed linen was simply dirty and smelly, not changed for God knows how long - the bathroom (shower & WC) was also dirty and smelly, has not seen a sponge or brush for a long time; a wash basin outside was terribly dirty, as if nobody had cleaned it for the last 10 years - it is obviously a lived-in house, however, listening to a laoud family quarrel in moroccan until well after midnight was a bit disturbing. Ear plugs are a must!
- the owner, who lives in the house with his family, speaks good French and was very hospitable and willing to spend time with us, answer questions about Morocco, advise etc. - we could choose the room, either on the ground level (not a good choice, unless you want to feel as one of the family members) or at the top floor - a nice, spacious room with 2 large beds, overlooking the atrium - a chance to see a real moroccan home, with typical furniture, decor, style, etc. - a panoramic view from the roof, especially at night - big and tasty breakfast
We are a group of three girls and we stayed in this beautiful riad for 2 nights. I really cannot imagine a better place where to spend two days in Fes. All the family it's extremely kind and they took care of us, showing us the city, helping us with the checking on line and with the taxi. We really felt like home and like in our own family. I recommend you to spend your time with Omar and his family. Morover the location it's perfect (in the old Medina) and the breakfast it's big and delicious.
The room wasn't perfectly clean and the hot water didn't work.
There were 4 of us sleeping in a big room as we asked for. The family was very nice to us and helped us by giving useful information and keeping our rucksacks for a whole day without extra charge. English, french and spanish spoken. Plenty of food both for breakfast (included) and dinner ( 10 euro each).
If you can choose other place to stay, don't go to Dar Lahnin. The father of the family didn't let us leave the riad in the evening for the dinner, but "offered" us one in their house - for 12 euros per plate. Bathrooms very dirty.
Nice roof terrace with cool view on the Medina.
