Love the beautiful decor! very quiet, friendly staff!
The property is beautiful with very helpful and friendly staff and excellent food.
Bed was rather hard and the room with the window is vey noisy at night (mainly due to barking dogs). We struggled to find the hotel on arrival and more might be done to make this difficulty apparent to first time guests - as we found, fending for yourself and especially after dark is not really an option.
Vanessa, as from Australia, speaks pleasant English. Her briefing on Fes medina would save you lots troubles when navigating a maze of winding, unmarked lanes. Mohammed, from Moulay Idriss, is always present, willing to help. Vincent, a great French chef, cooks world-class food. The hotel has a roof-top terrace, where breakfast is served, offers panoramic view of the old city. All the hotel decoration is no less than Hollywood movie setting.
As all places in medina, finding it is challenging. It is a must to call Venassa ahead of time to arrange not only a driver but also a porter (to carry your luggage through rough terrain).
Great service and hospitality. My first choice for a place to stay on any return visit.
The location, peace and tranquility of Dar Roumana were excellent. The food was good ( and came highly recommended) but i believe the chef was unwell the evening we ate there; It was good but not exceptional. The breakfast was delicious and served on the roof terrace. Perfect. Our room was lovely. Very helpful information provided on arrival about what to do and how to find our way around Fez.
The riad itself is just stunning! It's exactly what we were looking for and we felt like royalty staying there! It's a beautiful place to spend a couple of days. The roof terrace was gorgeous and provided a fantastic place to relax in the sun with views over all of Fes. Dinner cooked by Vincent was delightful!
It's a little more expensive than most but was abolutely beautiful
Everything about this Riad was perfect, right down to afternoon tea on the terrace and the quality of bathroom products. Vanessa and Vincent are fabulous hosts - we have Traveled the world and never had better. We had dinner on the first night and it was so superb that we ate there every night. We were celebrating a big anniversary and it was incredibly romantic. We had a room on the first floor that overlooked the courtyard which words cannot do justice to. The bath was big enough for two and the room itself stretched the whole side of the courtyard, while the bathroom extended around another side. Vanessa organised a driver to take us to volubilis and meknes for the day and it was excellent.
Dar Roumana is a truly beautiful representation of Fassi architecture. The staff is attentive, and their standards are high. Vanessa, the manager, is delightful and goes out of her way to make sure your needs are met. The library is huge, and the rooftop terrace is a must. We stayed 5 nights and had a wonderful experience.
Breakfast is not served until 8:30, but for us that was a minor detail. Self-serve coffee and tea are available in the library before 8:30.
The food and accommodations were superb.
food was excellent
nearby community center was noisy
Luxury hotel masquerading as Dar. Excellent hosts Vanessa and Vincent. Fantastic rooms and lobby decor traditional Moroccan style. Best view in all of Fes from rooftop - we checked !!! Food by chef Vincent was great.
Ground floor rooms are excellent but right next to the courtyard with breakfast and dinner. Not a problem if you don't mind but if you do need privacy ask for an upper floor room
We liked the location in a quite part of the medina. The view from our room was lovely (a few trees and the medina in the back) The staff is really helpful (the riad has few rooms, so that each host gets a lot of attention). The terrasse is great but unfortunately we were there in the winter, and we did not used it much. Perfect taste in the decoration. Dinner (sort of French fusion) is very good: we are happy we tried once. My piece of advice is to be more adventorous and try local cuisine. Small restaurants (ask which ones) are excellent and much cheaper.
We went in february and the yard of the riad was a bit dark (this is because they keep a temporary roof to protect it from the rain , I suppose that they take it out in the summer)
We mostly dealt with Mohamed and he was fantastic. I needed a doctor while we were there and he set that all up for me and helped translate. He even went and picked up my medicine for me. Other staff were very good as well. Room was beautiful. Love the library and rooftop terrace. Wifi worked very well. Shower was always hot. Nice touch with the organic handmade toiletries.
Ground floor rooms on the courtyard are quite loud. Ceilings are very high so noise from people talking in the dining area and the fountain in the courtyard are really amplified.
Dar Roumana is an oasis of tranquility, serenity and very tastefull food in the turbulent medina of Fez. It met all of our (high) expectations.
Nothing at all...
The interiors were gorgeous. The food was superb- truly an excellent chef. Just needs a better management team. The vibe was strange.
There was something off about this place that none of us could quite verbalize. Although the facilities were lovely the staff was weird and unavailable compared to other places we stayed in Morocco. Particularily the manager was not suited to the job. The room was a little uncomfortable in its situation and proportions. Honestly most people would probably really like this place but we didn'T.
Best staff Fabulous food Beautiful surrounds Offered good local knowledge Fabulous!
stunning riad, excellent cuisine from the chef, a paradise for all!
We had a wonderful stay in every way- excellent food, superb ambiance and excellent hosts.
The staff, the service, the setting, the food and the location make Dar Roumana a gem. I highly, highly recommend. Andre D.
