|Located in the medina in Marrakech, Ryad Atlas IV offers a terrace with views of Koutoubia Mosque, a Moroccan lounge with fireplace and a massage room. Jemaa El Fna Square is a 10-minute walk away.|
The location is right on the edge of the souks. Initial impressions can be a little overwhelming as the entrance is down a narrow lane and the lighting is not great. There was never any problem coming in or out and the locals were all friendly. This is a little oasis of calm in the chaos of the city, clean, comfortable and friendly staff.
The only comment I would make, and its not really a criticism is that this riad really is a guest house to be used as a base for your adventures. There are no "hotel facilities" such as restaurant, bar, swimming pool etc. Having said that as long as you understand what you are booking its really great.
The room was perfect, the staff were very friendly, the location is great, on the edge of the medina, reasonably far from the main square (which was a positive!) Breakfast was sufficient.
The common areas (particularly the roof terrace) looked a bit old and tired. It wasn't that appealing to sit up there. It would be great if the breakfast included some of the beautiful fresh fruit from the region.
Location Comfort Directions and advise Safety Support
This place has amazing staff who attend to your needs at any time - super friendly & very helpful. Our room was on the ground floor of the riad opening to a minimal, relaxing courtyard where we enjoyed our regular dose of Moroccan tea whilst recharging after a busy morning in the souks. For those wanting to be right amongst the action, but also escape the chaos each day, this place is ideal.
The place was excellent conveniently located close to the central souks and a quick 15 min walk to the new town. The staff was very welcoming cheerful and helpful. The room was nice, clean and rustic - not too small and not too big! It was good and fairly comfortable for us. Would definitely go back next time! Highly recommended.
The air conditioning in our room was comfortable but I think it could have been better. Maybe with a little bit of servicing?!? But it was not a major show stopper even in the mid of summer.
The staff were extremely gracious and accommodating in every way. It was a great place to come back and relax after exploring Marrakech. Our room looked out over the courtyard and was very comfortable for 2 people.
I was very happy with my room, which was large and comfortable. The location was perfect, I thought: easily walkable to the main square and around the souks, but also very close to an area easily reachable for cars, so quick access to taxis, or pick-up point for tours. Not like if you stay somewhere really in the middle of the Souks, which would require you always having to walk a fair distance and finding your way to pick-up and drop-off points. Also just off of a larger street which was always a good reference point to find my way back after getting lost in the souks. They met me where my ride from the airport dropped me off, which meant I didn't have to find it on my own. Breakfast was good, wifi signal was great everywhere including my room, except on the rooftop patio. I loved the rooftop, even though I was pretty much always the only person up there. Also the pet tortoises were great :) The staff were friendly, always willing to sit and chat (which was nice as I was travelling alone), help with bookings, or serve breakfast earlier on days I was departing for a tour or for the airport. The shower was fine, no issues with pressure or temperature. The place was really great for the price. OJ and tea absolutely delicious :) I also really loved that there were books everywhere to take out and read: in the common areas as well as in my room. Cozy touch that I really loved. I would absolutely recommend going here, and would be happy to stay here again in the future! Also note that is is possible to pay on dollars or euros, even though on this site it says only in local currency.
Found it a bit of a shame that breakfast was not served on the rooftop. However, I was there end of June/beginning of July, so maybe the courtyard was better in terms of temperature :)
Staying at Dar Soukaina was such a great experience! The helpful staff, tasty breakfasts, great location, comfortable room, huge bath/shower, fast wifi, beautiful design of the building were some of the reasons why we loved it there.
Beautiful little oasis in the middle of the chaotic souks. A beautiful Riad. I didn't want to leave!!
Clean,with nice decoration. Helpfull staff.
There was a smell in the bathroom. Little noisy inside.
The Riad is much more older and worn out than it seems in the photos - the terrace, which was one of the reasons we chose this Riad, was completely different, dirty and very small. Although the place is ok, we stayed in another riad in marrakech that was much better for just 5€ more... Good for just one night.
Dar soukaina is well Located within the heart of the Medina just off a busy souk, and a 5 minute walk from the square. Although it is in the midst of the mayhem, it is quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was suffiecient for us, bread, juice, tea, eggs if you wanted them and a selection of 2 jams and butter. The rooms were made up once we left and were clean. Most of the staff was nice.
My wife and I booked a deluxe room, on entering our room my wife already doubted that it was a deluxe room as the deluxe were described as having fireplaces, ours did not have a fireplace. As it was hot we thought forget it we dont need a fireplace anyway and settled in. We learnt later that night that the AC was not working, there was nobody around at 11:45pm so we slept through it, believe me it was uncomfortable! The next morning asked the hotel staff named Aziz to fix it, he came to fix it a few hours later whilst my wife and I were looking at places to go in our room and he stated no no you rest i will come back when u leave. We insisted he could come in, he did not. We left to explore and came back late at night to find it still broken. Aziz argued with us that he came with a woker to fix it and we were in the room and so now we missed the chance and have to wait until tmro!! We argued and said we were happy to leave u insisted to coming later, made us feel bad for being in our room!! He did not understand that the AC should be working in the first place! After much fiddling around with batteries in the AC remote he agreed to change our room, to which was across the alley and was a much smaller room. We told him we paid for deluxe are u sure this is deluxe and he insisted it was. It definatley wasnt but we were done arguing. Once checked out we left our bags and went to the market returning later to catch our taxi back from the hotel to the airport, on arrival back we found aziz there - who did not say hello, did not even offer us a glass of water, ask us if we were happy with our stay or if we enjoyed ourself. Nothing. When our taxi arrived he informed us and we left without saying goodbye. Disgusting service. We paid almost the same as paying for the suite novotel which is much better- and which we have stayed at before, the only reason we stayed in a riad is for a different experience but Aziz rueined it for us.
Excellent location, excellent customer service, breakfast was fabulous, rooms were spacious and clean with a true marrocan feel. Overall excellent!
Pleasant environment, lovely courtyards. Nice attention to detail. Kitchen for guests (with fridge) was very useful. Pleasant and helpful staff.
The riad was absolutely gorgeous, with a cool courtyard which was an oasis from the nearby souks. Location was perfect for all parts of the city. The staff, Aziz and Rashid, were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and perfectly clean, and unlike anything you'd get in Europe. We loved the dipping pool and the pet tortoises. The transfer to and from the airport were seamless. We have literally not a single complaint!!
the room, the nice decoration, the breakfast, the relaxing area of the riad and for sure the very polite and the very available stuff! compliments
maybe the position from the center, no so easy, but this happens for some riad in medina area!
Medi was very welcoming and helpful. Beautiful building. A peaceful retreat from bustling City.
On our arrival the staff spent time explaining our location and how to get to the main attractions which was brilliant, as we then didn't get lost at all. We had organised an airport transfer which I think is a must as finding the place would have been so hard without any idea where it was! The interior was always very quiet and peaceful compared to the bustle outside, and it was always possible to get some tea while unwinding. It is a couple of streets away from one of the main thoroughfares, but we never felt uncomfortable walking this at any time of day or night. Breakfast was brilliant, but loads of it. I don't think we ever finished ours!
The location is perfect and it's really easy to find in the Medina. If you are coming from the airport, just take a cab to Derb el Farane and it's minutes walk from there (cars can't go into the Souk). From Dar Soukaina you can very easily walk to "la place", Medersa Ben Youssef, Museum Marrakech, Koutubia Mosque and all the other nice places... The staff is very, very nice and helpful. Fatima let me chose which room I wanted and Mehdi, a very nice and polite guy, had a lot of patience in showing me how to prepare areal morrocan mint tea and explaing me how to make Tajine and other food.
Wlan signal was not available in my room so I had to sit in the yard whenever I wanted to do stuff online. Although the rooms are really pretty there was a lot of mould in the bathroom which wouldn't disturb me so much but my asthma got a little bad because of this. But at the end of the day, I would definitey stay there again.
We stayed in Marrakech for one week and it was our first visit. The Dar itself is very nice and one can see that it is well taken care of. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and all our wishes and inquiries were met/answered. It is ideally located at the northern beginning of the historical Medina, i.e. You can either immediately start strolling through the narrow streets and souks or just take a taxi and leave the Medina for the New Village, which you cannot do,if you live right within the Medina where taxis have no access... We would definitely highly recommend the Dar Soukaina (incl. Dinner)!
We didn't have internet access in our room, i.e. We had to sit on our terrace or surf in the breakfast room, which might be slight minus if you pictured to lie in bed and search the web! ;-)
Really nice authentic Moroccan Riad. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, breakfasts were good and there were plenty of areas around the Riad to sit and relax. The riad was also in a really quiet location - less than 15 mins walk to the main square in marrakech, but it was so peaceful and quiet in the Riad itself, which was very welcome after a busy day out an about in Marrakech.
There are no locks on the bedroom doors - the staff told us that this is to make it feel like we were staying in a real Moroccan home. This isn't really a problem, as the Riad itself is very secure from the outside, and there are only a few rooms anyway... however it felt a little unsettling at first!
Helpfulness Friendliness Calm Quiet Relaxing Great service Great tea and cake!
Staff was heartwarming (esp. guy named Gemal); chilled out rooftop to hang out! 100% recommendation;
The staff were so kind and helpful and took good care of us. The rooms were nice, clean and charming. The breakfast was really tasty.
Maybe the location, but it was ok.
Amazing place and central but tranquil and very quiet. The host Jamal was amazing and welcoming. Great stay!
