We spent a wonderful 4 nights at Dar Zarraba. The room was beautiful, set in amongst an olive grove, with a beautiful pool. Some of the rooms have terraces onto the pool, but all feel private and special. Food is provided, the only time you have choice is for lunch, but we were happy with the excellent Morrocan dinner provided. The value for the room and the food was second to none. Eating breakfast next to the pool every morning was a joy. Its about a 20 min drive to Marrakech via taxi and E20 return trip. We wanted a mixture of relaxation and to see Marrakech too so it was perfect. Worth noting that they like to take euros and everything is priced in euros
A couple of minor points - wifi was only available sporadically and not in the room - not a major issue. Also my other half would have liked a choice for breakfast as it was the same everyday. Communication was sometimes hard without much french but it was fun getting through that barrier!
It's a little isolated, but fine with a car or if you wanted to stay on site a taxi would do. We went off during the days, but could be very relaxing if just staying in the hotel. Good spacious and interesting grounds. As we were out much of the time didn't have much contact with staff.
A little expensive. Due to flight weight limits didn't take soap or shampoo with us and this surprisingly wasn't supplied. WiFi only in the main WiFi room not in individual rooms. Rather limited power points in rooms. OK, we are photographers so lots of things that needed charging.
A friend recommended Dar Zarraba and I'm so glad they did. So many things I enjoyed about my stay - the welcoming staff, considerate host, the sense of community and a homely feel, the type of guests that seem to stay there (friendly), the delicious food, and the location (slightly removed from the bustle of Marrakech but easy to reach). This was the perfect place to relax - easy going and a good base from which to explore other areas, I stayed here twice during my Morocco trip, and would stay there again.
While I enjoyed much of Dar Zarraba's simplicity, I was disappointed by the Wi-Fi - available in most communal areas but could be improved to offer Wi-Fi in all rooms as in many lesser hotels nowadays.
Friendly staff, nice and clean rooms & simple, but superb breakfast! We didn't book a dinner, but they still made us something to eat. Really really friendly!
The location is awesome, however is really difficult to reach it. I would not recommend for someone to arrive after the sunset. The map provided by the website is fair, but the lack of signs on the way makes it really difficult.
It's a total haven, a little sanctuary but still only 20 mins to Marrakech and the airport. Had a super time. I'll definitely be coming back.
The pool and grounds were stunning
