The landlady is very welcoming and helpful. Room was pretty in the tradition of riads. Home cooking was excellent.

Quite a bit of noise penetrating from the street. The mattress was very hard. Not ideal for a light sleeper.

Our apartment was like a home away from home. Soedade is a wonderful host. Close to the food market and restaurants. Close to everything.

This really is like staying at a friend's house. So welcoming and hospitable. Best bit is the roof terrace with perfect views of the town, sea and beach. Brilliant for relaxing with a book in the sun.

Wifi doesn't reach into the bedrooms (must be the thick traditional walls). Available just outside your door though. No big deal and actually probably a blessing in disguise when you're relaxing in a place like this!

Essaouria is the most beautiful place, and the best part of Daranur, is the spectacular view of Essaouria on the terrace, really beautiful! It is a perfect little place if you are hoping to spend most of your time out, as the room was very small and basic, but that was great for us, and was reflected in the good price, so we were very happy overall with the place. And Milouda was lovely and very accommodating, as unfortunately Soedade was away for family reasons, which couldn't be helped. I think the photo of our room on the website, definitely made the room appear bigger, but it's definitely not a complaint, and we loved everything. Also, payment was very easy, and we paid the night before we left, as we had to get up early for the bus to Marrakech.

It was just a shame that we didn't get to meet Soedade. Also, we found that our bed was very hard, luckily we are young, and can handle that, however I think if we had stayed any longer than 4 nights, we would probably have asked about moving to a different room, as we appeared to be the only guests for a couple days.

We enjoyed a couple of nights in lovely Essaouira and were very pleased with Daranur. The very nice owner, Soedade, met us off the Supratours bus from Marrakesh and walked with us (and a trolley guy for our bags) to the apartment. The apartment was beautifully furnished, filled with light and art, and had a comfy bed. We were able to prepare some meals there, which felt nice after eating in restaurants and riads for so many nights in other locations. The view from the rooftop terrace is lovely. It's easy to get to anywhere you want from this conveniently located spot. The value for money was superb for this property. We felt very welcome here. Thanks so much!

Unfortunately, the smell of cigarette smoke from other guests frequently drifted in to the apartment somehow from either the terrace or the apartment below. Not sure there was any way to stop this, since we had our windows closed most of the time.

As soon as we stepped in the Riad we where warmly greeted by Soedade. The whole Riad has been decorated by herself, a homey Moroccan-Mediterranean style; we fell in love with it. Our holidays seemed like visiting an old friend rather than renting a room. Soedade's advices and city guide (created by her) were extremely useful, from how to find the right places to eat at a range of prices to how to navigate the city. We've stayed in the apartment that contains all the necessary for cooking; spices, flour, pans, mixer, coffee maker, gas cooker, beautiful pots AND THE BEST is you can grill your own fish in the terrace. Even if you stay in the independent bedrooms you have access to the kitchen in the terrace. She always attracts such a nice people that you may end up making new friends when cooking (as we did!). We will be back and we will also recommend this lovely house to our friends.

Daranur is a not-to-be missed experience in Essaouira. Although this statement may sound trivial, our stay there proved it. We arrived at mid-day. We found the place very quickly. It is located in a quiet street, close to both the market, the "European" quarter and the ocean. At the door, we were greeted by a smiling lady who turned out to be the owner of the hotel. Soedade is a Spanish woman, who spreads her positive attitude and serenity. With a taste and style, she has turned an old house into her Moroccan home. The place has an amazing spirit. Each detail of the house - from the painting on the wall to the bathroom tiles - is in line with the atmosphere of the city, the ocean and of Morroco. It becomes very easy to feel Daranur as your own home. Soedade is very welcoming. The moment you arrive, she will walk you through the house and make you feel very comfortable. Summer kitchen on the roof, fireplace on the second floor, and the lighting in the house are details that make this place simply wonderful. Situated on the highest point in the city (only minarets are higher), the view from the terrace is impressive and charming. The whole Essaouira and the ocean are revealed to you. We cannot describe the thrill of sunset, combined with the voice of the imam during the late prayer. The rooms are very neat and cozy. And there is a lot of detail touch. Everything is in its place. After an emotional day on the streets of Essaouira and the shores of the ocean, it feels great to be back in Daranur, where you can have a deserved rest, cook a nice meal, have a chill chat with Soedade, and recharge for the next sunny day.

We booked the apartment. The apartment is a really nice spot to stay, you feel right away at home. On the rooftop there's a beautiful terrace with an amazing view. Even in February we could really enjoy the sun and the sights from there. I can recommend this place, especially the apartment.

We booked the apartment, but when we arrived there were other people in it. Instead of the apartment we had to get a standard room - the day after we could get into the apartment. The bed in the standard room was not comfortable. It was pretty cold too.
