Lost my Moskow SIM card;))
The attic room was incredible and our host the wonderful Isobel could not do enough for us it all made our stay magical experience
What a place !! It 's like you are inside a museum. Really, wonderful place to stay. Thanks to Isabella for her help and smile. The staff are very friendly. The location is great with a wonderful view over the ocean. I love this place
There really was nothing at all to dislike. The welcome from Isobelle, the friendly owner, the situation overlooking the ramparts and sea giving marvellous views from a lovely terrace, the furnishings, the delicious breakfast (including the choice of how we would like our eggs cooked - unusual for Morocco.) Everything byfar exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return to this accommodation if and when we re-visit Essouira. As Isobelle does not provide evening meals (understandably as there is such a large number of places to dine, she recommended we visit the nearby Restaurant Adwak. Where we enjoyed an excellent evening meal and again we would fully recommend this restaurant.
This is not a dislike only a comment that there are several steep stairs to negotiate to gain access to this fantastic property. However, my partner who has arthritis and has had two knee replacements, found a few minutes of discomfort well worth it.
The location of the Riad is absolutely stunning!! In the hearth of the Medina, right on the walls towards the ocean, I would have spent all my time on the terrace. Our room was among the cheapest so we had a roof window...however this was perfectly managed by the staff to make us have the right amount of air at different times of the day. Breakfast was great.
Beautiful view to the splanade and the sea (though window relatively small). Functional and decorative furniture and items selected for an oriental atmosphere. Comfortable bed. Inspired room configuration with large bathroom separated from room by glass partition. Breakfast was great!
Bathroom has limited ventilation
Magnificent roof terrace, with a wall as a wind break. Some seats offered great views of the sea. The riad was decorated in the theme of European artists such as Dali and Picasso- a nice touch. Just out of the door, at street level , you were in the thick of the town and all its colourful attractions.
There was a cat wandering around and lazing on the furniture all the time. I and other guests I spoke to, have allergies to cats. I did not realise they had one.
The location was perfect as a base for forays around Essaouira and the views from the rooms and the rooftop were spectacular. We loved the eclectic furnishings and artefacts and our rooms were very comfortable. A place to chill and relax. I can see that some people have commented on the fact that not everything is brand spanking new and that furniture and furnishings are worn: perhaps they haven't heard of shabby chic? We found it both homely and stylish and we loved it. We determined that we would make a good breakfast before setting out for the day but even with that determination we couldn't do full justice to the feast that was served to us each morning in the sunshine on the roof terrace. Owner and staff were welcoming and helpful but not intrusive, and the price was very reasonable. All in all we were glad we had chosen the Maison des Artistes.
Great location, great french owner and helpful staff, fantastic breakfast on the roof terrace, great, light, arty room terrace room!
That i left this wonderful place, wished i stayed a bit longer!!
Isabelle was sound!
Not enough time!
The best place in Essaouira. I've stayed in numerous hotels and riads in Essaouira but I've never felt as good as in La Maison des Artistes. It is worth every penny. The difference between any other hotel and this one is huge, the owner is a wonderful lady. Thank you, Isabelle.
The scene from balcony was more than anything which was breath taking breakfast was nice and staffs are kind and helpful.
wifi and water supply in bath room was not good enough. However it is not only problem for this hotel but almost (perhaps all) of hotel in old medina in this area. if you want more comfortable facility, i would recommend the modern hotel outside medina. Because Essaeura is very small district and it is still no problem even if you find a hotel outside medina unlike another cities in Morroco. My wife wished to stay another modern resort cause we stayed already in hotel in medina for 2 nights before.
The decoration makes you feel at home. The terrace with sea view is fantastic.
The Name of the hotel matches with the Rooms. Very nice and special! Friendly personal!
Our first time in Essaouira, even if it was only for 2 days, we totally fell in love with Essaouira! We stayed at Maison des Artistes, and we were pretty sure we had the best riad in town. First thing you'll see when you arrive, was this riad all white with vintage & arty decoration with alot of good taste, the rooms were all very beautiful & charming- there's a loft feeling with very positive atmosphere! then we met Isabelle, the owner, who is a Parisian women who fell in love with Essaouira and decided to make it her home. She was very helpful, gave us alot of best adresses in town included her lunch spot in the middle of the fish market (not mentionned in any guide). She also helped us too understand and appreciate the artisanal "treasure" of Essaouira, Argan oil. Last but not least, the morning breakfast on the rooftop, we stayed for hours because of this magical view who accompany our delicious breakfasts! in one word, our stay was fantastic, and unforgettable. We can't wait to come back to Essaouira, and without any doubt, return at la maison des artists!!
Incredible view from the balcony over the ramparts to the ocean. This is only possible from a few properties in Essaouira. Good free wifi. Right in the medina excellent for walking around, very convenient for walking to the beach.
I loved relaxing on the roof of the riad and eating breakfast up there. Sound of the waves crashing nearby and the great location on the battlement walls.
Very bright in my room (DALI) due to a skylight in the room and a small window above the door so sleeping late was kind of impossible. If I stayed again I would pick a different room.
We booked for 1 night and we stayed for 3 instead...Super estonishing place including the owner lady "ISA". Great location.
No doubt LMDA it´s the place to stay in Essaouira, the location is perfect, the rooms are great and clean, breathtaking sea views, waking up and going to bed to the sound of the sea was just amazing. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, amazing breakfasts and a host like no other that will make you feel at home, definitely a must go I highly recommend LMDA.
The staff was one of the best I experienced in Morocco--which says a lot if you know anything about Moroccan hospitality. The owner allowed my boyfriend and I to use her personal bathroom and shower at 8 pm at night after we checked out and before our flights. The breakfast was one of the best at a Riad we had and everyone was so enjoyable. That being said, the view, and loft room specifically, was out of this world. Definitely a "must stay" place here.
the atmosphere is very nice, friendly host, a beautiful kind of different styled location !
Location. Terrace with views of the sea. Eclectic choice of artworks in eccentric but beautiful Riad. Delightful owner and staff. highly recommended.
