The grand Palais Des Remparts is in the heart of the medina (historic quarter) of Essaouira, only 3 minutes from the beach. It is a stylish hotel and serves traditional Moroccan cuisine.
Score from 203 reviews Excellent
A fantastic hammam, great breakfast, staff and location. Wonderful riad i Essaouira
The WI-Fi was a bit poor
Right in the old medina, very close to main attractions and port, as well as restaurants and markets. Absolutely stunning decoration, lovely room with pool-sized tub and shower. Good priced massages available in hotel, and receptionist happy to arrange excursions. Elaborate breakfast, and we had it on the roof terrace overlooking the coast - beautiful! Would recommend L'Horloge restaurant just round the corner - half the price of the one next door to hotel and staff extremely friendly.
Wi-fi was sporadic downstairs, although worked fine in the room for me. My two friends never managed to connect, though. Pool not available at all as it was off-season.
The hammam and massages were perfect
The decoration is toooo much! Kitsch
The rooms are absolutely beautiful. Every last detail from the ceiling to the taps is beautifully hand crafted decor. The bath is enormous! The staff are very pleasant n the breakfast was so lovely. Location is ideal too, right beside the port and beach and parking is very close.
A little bit noisy at early mornings but that's more noise from the streets
There is no on site parking, despite advert. More expensive than advertised
grand old traditional moroccan hotel with in the medina friendly staff
Having visited this hotel on a previous visit to Essaouira I was amazed by the interior decoration and calm of the interior courtyard. I wanted to return after seeing the various rooms online, so I booked for my next visit. The hotel decor has clearly been lovingly designed and is beautiful through out.
The checking process was appalling, two forms, one pen delivered to a carved wooden table and told to complete by the most uninterested receptionist I've ever met and I worked in the NHS. Mint tea was offered and accepted and arrived mintless! Maybe someone forgot to buy any. The night guardian gave us the wrong unmaked key for the room, twice! Breakfast, I was told, could be served on the terrace, in room or wherever I liked. So the following morning off to the terrace I popped only to find it deserted of life. So back down to the reception to ask where we should take breakfast. We took the table in the dark closed bar area and was offered eggs, tea or coffee, having selected scrambled eggs and coffee. I was surprised to find a fried egg, and a pot of almost coffeeless coffee served along with bread. Not a particularly great start to the day. The roof terrace simply did not measure up to the interior and frankly gave the impression that it was an after thought with uncomfortable basic booth seating and too few sun loungers. So to conclude, this is a beautifully decorated structure but lacks the level of service that this hotel deserves, such a let down.
all problems were resolved in a good spirit. very nice rooms. very nice people.
would like rooms to be darker at night with curtains against inside hall.
Staff were excellent.. Very curtious and accomadating. Location is great.
Felt a little lack of privacy in rooms..
Very very poor wi fi, they had a couple of routers on reception , you could not get any conection in the room
The rooms were beautiful & the bathroom amazing! Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely with tea, coffee, yoghurt, pastries & eggs and a great view. The location was also good with easy parking and easy access to the port and the town. We stayed for four nights and Rashida on the desk could not have been more polite or helpful. Thank you. Try 'La Table' next door - so good we went twice.
Wifi only available in the foyer - not a great hardship but easily remedied.
Fantastic decorated and romatic Riad, well situated, spacious room, great service, lovely breakfast at the roof terrace with see view.
