Take earplugs for the street noise and early morning prayers.
Palais Khum is a charming, friendly and truly relaxing oasis nestled amongst the palaces and souks of busy Marrakech.
From the moment you step inside this beautifully presented 11-room Riad, every need is anticipated by the friendly and efficient staff, and gracious hosts Stefan and Laura will ensure you are comfortable and happy, with all the local information you need to enjoy your stay.
We had mixed weather on our 3 night stay, but when it was too cold and wet to go out, we swam in the beautiful indoor pool, sat by the fire and took advantage of their wonderful Hammam spa/massage (an incredible experience in itself!).
The Riad is a short walk to the Place (which is a must-see after dark) and the various markets, so it is perfectly located. It is only a few minutes drive from the airport.
The rooms are beautiful, large and well-appointed. Ours was a split-level room with living/bedroom on one level, and dressing room/bathroom upstairs. Even the toiletries are a delight, lovely locally-made oils and scents. Just make sure you pack your earplugs if you're a light sleeper as prayers start early, and there is plenty of street noise (as you'd expect in Marrakech!).
The roof terrace is a wonderful sunny and relaxing space, with sun loungers and plenty of tables to eat or enjoy a drink. Food at the Riad is delicious, with a tasty breakfast, wonderful home-made cakes at their patisserie, and chef's chicken tagine is to die for. They also do a good Club Sandwich and an excellent cocktail, so all tastes are catered for.
The staff were friendly and helpful at all times, and every wish was catered to with a smile. Stefan and Laura are the ideal hosts, kind and helpful, and genuinely engage with their guests. They have thought about every little touch, and ensure their guests have the perfect experience.
