The comfort of the double Room (1st Floor), with plenty of bright lamps. / the breakfast : delicious cheese omelet, fruit salad, fruits, in addition to the usual Morrocan breakfast served everywhere (what a nice change !)/ the location in a clean, airy and quiet part of the medina (east part). I really appreciated that M. Kacem showed me the way to go to the medina (though very close), contacted the next riad to fetch me and gave me an adaptor for my iPad ! By the way, Don't forget yours when you travel to Morocco !

To be asked too often if it was ok. I felt like being a guest, not like being at home.

Where do I begin? Riad Ahlam was by far the best accommodation I have had throughout all of my travels around the world.Kacem, Fatiyah and the rest of the crew made us feel at home, so much so that my boyfriend shed a few tears when we left. I would go back to Fes just to stay there. The food, the ambience, the aura. It would be foolish to stay anywhere else when you can be welcomed like you are family at Riad Ahlam.

We were a group of five women traveling together, and we all LOVED the riad. Absolutely beautiful, and the staff went above and beyond to take care of every detail. Meals were prepared especially for us, and were the best we had during our stay. We were treated like family, and we felt like family. We'd all go back to Fes in a heartbeat, and we'd all choose to stay at Riad Ahlam.

We cannot recommend this Riad highly enough. This is definitely the place we will stay again. The location of the Riad was excellent - on the very edge of the Medina - so easy to find and only one minute's walk from the car park. The décor and ambience was totally authentic and the inner courtyard was so very beautiful and tranquil. Our bedroom was delightfully decorated and so comfortable with plenty of room and absolutely spotlessly clean. The shower room was the same. Breakfast was always served with a lovely smile by the delightful Fatiha and was most enjoyable and plentiful with a selection of fruit, bread, pancakes, eggs and yogurt. A great cup of tea as well which is a bonus for us Brits! Absolutely all the staff were fantastic - Najae and Nadia kept every inch of the Riad spic and span and were always so cheerful and Omar was the most pleasant and helpful night porter we have ever met. Kacem, the manager, arranged our taxis to and from the airport and also a driver to take us to other places we wanted to visit. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he looked after us so well. We felt more like family than visitors. We can hardly wait to go back again!

    Absolutely nothing.

Leaving the main avenue in Fes, we quickly were on a dirt parking lot with cars sprinkled every which direction. Three people jumped out, directed us to an empty spot (actually just an area with no car in it) and emptied our suitcases into a handcart. Following them we got to a narrow alley surrounded by what appeared to be many old, ugly, and uninviting stone faced building with no visible windows. My wife stopped right there and said, NO WAY. After urging, and reminding her we had no real options, we followed the men a short distance toward the alley when a pleasant fellow popped out to introduce himself as the hotel manager. We followed him down the alley to another alley, and then into the very basic front door of the hotel (RIAD). Surprise!!! The hotel was beautifully decorated, with plants surrounding a partially open air central courtyard, upon which the rooms on the second and third floor looked down. Most like an atrium in a US hotel, but with only about 8 rooms. Our reservation had been screwed up online and they only expected two of us. To say the manager was helpful would be unkind to him. We had driven most of the day from Tangiers, were hot, sweaty and tired, and he made us sit down for tea before showing us to our room. While this was going on, he upgraded us to a quad suite, with good A/C and very generous space. As we had arrived late in the afternoon with no money, and the banks were closed, he lent us almost $100.00 in local money from his own pocket to let us get dinner, as we couldn't get any local currency until the banks opened the next day. His expression was "you are family" and he went on to prove it over the next 2 days. Nothing we asked for was turned down, and my wife was invited into the kitchen by the cook upon our arrival. She came out relaxed and with an entirely fresh attitude about the hotel.

The approach to the hotel, if in the US would have kept us from even stopping, but this is Fes, Morroco, and once off the street (which was safe even at night) we enjoyed every minute. We learned from our hired tour guide the style in Fes is a most plain and unattractive front entrance, behind which hides beautiful shrubs, flowers, rooms and furniture. There was nothing here not to like.

Best staff we have ever encountered. Always smiling and always willing to help. It was great coming "home" to them, in a peaceful environment after the hectic medina. They really are exceptional!! The riad itself is incredibly beautiful and luxurious while still clearly a previous glorious moroccan palace. The room has a TV, bathrobes, is beautifully decorated. We had a lovely terrace too. The communal terrace on the rooftop is great to look over the medina and for sunsets. A taxi can take you a few steps from the hotel, even though it is a 5 minute walk from the most important sights in fes medina. Last but not least, the breakfast was the best i had in morocco. This riad really has everything you need in fes. An excellent price quality option, we stayed at riads that were almost double as expensive but not half as good... Regards from the Belgian grandmother and her two grandkids!

Amazing staff, Kacem, Fatiya, Reja and Omar all treated us like family. The Riad is spotless and really well maintained. No request was ever a problem. Food was excellent. Located yards from the medina within the walls.

Lighting in the room could be better.

As in the precious reviews, we had ever need taken care of for us by the excellent manager (owner?) from a meal the first night we arrived to washing some clothes to Moroccan tea whenever we might need a sit down in the cool. We have never felt so looked after! I will now never stay anywhere else while in Fes.

Internet was really only in common areas, but it's not much of a criticism as we weren't visiting Morocco to spend all our time online!

Staff was excellent; they were very attentive and friendly. Food was great. The Riad was beautifully decorated and is in a perfect location to the medina and access for taxi. I would definitely stay here again.

Some of the beds were not as comfortable and the AC had loud sound which made it a bit difficult to sleep at night. Bathroom is clean but could use air freshener.

All that has been said about Riad Alham is true. It's a fantastic place to stay. Great location, close to 3-4 great restaurants, to the Medina, to a Petit Taxi rank and there is a bar within a stones throw for a cold beer. Hospitality is Kacem's middle name, he's the manager. He and his team offer a fabulous and extensive breakfast, tea after a day site seeing, keep your wine cold in their kitchen fridge, washed our jeans and returned them later that day, offer advice on where to eat, organise taxis to the airport, cars/drivers to other cities with no apparent cut for the Riad. Our room had a double and a single which was great for two people not a couple travelling together. You can have a home made meal cooked for you too. Fatiha cooked a fabulous dinner on our last night. It was the best Moroccan food we ate. Kacem works 7 days a week during the season but he is always there to help you. With a smile on his face. The two women who help with kitchen and housekeeping are a joy. I would stay here again, it's such a contrast to our stay in Marrakech. Thank you team Alham

All staffs are very nice and friendly. Especially the manager and the chef. This riad is nice, tidy and Gd location. No matter how untidy I made the room, they will help me tidy up in a very nice way. The food also taste so delicious here. And I could learn how to cook Moroccan food in the kitchen :) I enjoy and love staying in there.

A wonderful experience from start to finish was had at the Riad Ahlam. Kacem the manager was absolutely brilliant - nothing is too much trouble. The Riad is delightful - great bedrooms and shower rooms and a fantastic surprise above the room at the top - views from the roof are spectacular and its a great place to take in the city and surrounds, and just to bask in the atmosphere on a sunbed. It's literally just a couple of minutes away from the main shopping drag through the medina. Food - YUM. Breakfasts had fruit, sweet and savoury pancakes and breads with yoghurt, jams and honey. No need for lunch unless you want more taste of the city. The evening meal will not disappoint. It's all fresh, bought in on demand and also served in the lovely courtyard. As well as preparing great food, the chef had the most infectious laugh - she is a delight. Omar, who served the evening meals and kept the road overnight was a gentle and lovely man. The box of goodies to eat on our early morning way was a lovely thought (and the clocks had gone forward that morning!). So a place we would thoroughly recommend. Stayed March 2014
