This riad is situated in the heart of Marrakesh’s Medina (historic quarter). Set around a central patio, sheltered by trees and with a central fountain. It offers 4 individually-decorated rooms.

Riad Oumaima is a palace-style guesthouse, a 10-minute walk through the souks (markets) to Jeema-El-Fna square. It offers an interior patio with a heated plunge pool and a rooftop sun terrace.

Location - close enough to the medina but quiet part of the city. Clean, authentic style, helpful staff, good breakfast.
A bit hard to find, location on homepage (facebook) misleading and in booking.com also a bit misleading. The easiest way to find it by yourself is through the back-door which opens to Rue Bab Irhli (you can see the picture of the door in their facebook page).
First of all, the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Traditional decorations, ambiance and oriental scents in the air certainly create a wonderfull atmosphere. The rooms are also decorated in a traditional way and are comfortable enough. The proprietor, Frederique, can arrange day trips and airport transfer. Hammam and massage can be arranged (great experience!) and you can also get traditional food in the riad. We found both breakfast and tajines are very tasty. Location is also convenient but it's easy to get lost if you use the medina entrance. We used the main street entrance any time we wanted to get back quickly (more straightforward route even though a bit longer).
No door between bathroom and bedroom, you might want a bit more privacy with a dodgy stomach! Also, the shower doesn't have a curtain and the water splashes a lot on the floor. Still, this wouldn't stop us from coming back.
Khaled and Faysal are both very helpful and will ensure you a great stay in Marrakech. The hotel is great, and the room and bath room exceeded our expectations. The breakfast is gorgeous and the welcome tea, too, was greatly appreciated.
It's a futile detail but the shower is shore of a cabin window. Consequently, the bath room floor gets wet easily. A bathroom door is also lacking which some might disturb
The hosts of the accomodation were lovely and very helpful, the terrace is nice and the room was nicely decorated.
Compared to other accomodation we stayed in in Marrakech, this room was by far the smallest. I was staying with a friend and the bathroom did not have a door, just a very small curtain so you could see straight into the shower from the bed. The pluming in the bathroom was awful, the shower cut out several times during my shower. At night time the area didn't feel particularly safe, that comes with staying in the maze and is great to experience during the day. I put a jumper on the coat rack and it fell off the wall. There is no wardrobe for your clothes, just a few hangers on the coat rack. This accomodation is good for say one night but I wouldn't stay here for any longer.
The riad is very well kept and beautiful. The owner did her best to give us some tips about Marrakech, wich was very usefull.
We knew we had to pay the city tax, but what we didn't expect was to have to pay VAT twice, as on our booking is written included. We tried to explain to the staff and show him our booking (written "included on the price"), but he still didn't understand and after all ended up asking us to pay the price was written for cancellation. It was impossible to try to explain anything to him as he started to show he wasn't happy... Not the service you expect for the costumer
Exceptional in all aspects. The owner and the employees treated us better than family. Special creams are offered to all customers. The breakfast was available all morning. And the dinners where wonderful and extremely affordable. I cannot find fault with the services and cleanliness of the place. It smelled brilliant. Tastefully decorated. And the terrace were breakfast , dinner and tea could be served was beautiful and extremely comfortable.
Riad Ajebel is a quiet oasis in a lovely Kasbah district. Frederique, the proprietor & her staff members were very welcoming, esp. Adnan! Apart from the beautiful ambience of the riad I had a comfortable & relaxing stay with good food & company. I also had the most amazing hammam & massage onsite.....incredible! :)
Excellent food and very helpful staff.
A bit noisy with traffic in the terrace, but this was a minor concern.
The location was perfect. The riad is so beautiful. It was located in a quiet corner, but within walking distance to the stores, cafes, and main plaza where the souks are. When taking a cab, you just have to tell the driver to go to the Palais Royale (Royal Palace). The riad is literally across the street. Lastly, the manager, Frederique, was simply amazing. She made us feel at home and was so welcoming. She even helped us save money on a day tour. We had originally booked with an agency that was charging 100 euros more than an agency she knew well. With her help, the agency she knew quoted us with a far less expensive day tour of the Atlas Mountains without losing service quality.
The towels in our bathroom were not changed during our stay even though we placed three on the floor, assuming this was the code to ask for new ones. I believe you will have to ask the cleaning lady in person or ask the manager to inform the cleaning lady that your towels and/or bed sheets need to be changed. Other than that, our stay was outstanding.
It's a stunning building, full of beautiful Moroccan furniture and crafts. We slept in the Alil double room on the terrace which was extremely comfortable and cosy. Frédérique was very helpful and lovely. I highly recommend staying here.
It was all and more then we expected. Our host was lovely and saw to all out needs with a smile! The decor was beautiful, exotic, tranquil and a wonderful introduction to Marakesh. We will recommend it to all our friends!! And our two Labaradors were made welcome as well ( awesome experience!)
Fantastic hospitality (very friendly & helpful, tea & cookies on arrival, F. went out of her way to organize a hammam & massage for me very last minute; great breakfast (can choose between sweet & salty option, normal & early bird version); lovely rooms & entire interior & roof terrace; not right in the hectic centre but easy to reach the Medina etc.
IT would be nice if both spoke a bit better English; I think the WiFi could be better; some people might miss having a TV in their room, for me it was fine without
-reception insisted in paying late in the evening, so we went to get money from the ATM machine after that they had problems in returning change not very professional -shower caused the bathroom to wet all over and had not setting were the water temperature was pleasant (either too hot or too cold) -Quite a lot of traffic noise because the Riad is located near a bussy road
The riad and especially the terrace are amazing. We enjoyed the comfortable bedroom which has fully equipped bathroom.
Wifi signal is not working well at the top floor. And because of satff holidays, some services from the SPA were not available.
Clean and quiet riad with beautiful decor only less than ten minutes walk from Jemaa el Fnaa square. Lady Frederic, the owner, and her staff are very attentive and go out of their way to make their guests comfortable and well informed in terms of how to get around, where to shop and eat, and what to avoid. They serve an authentic Moroccan food which is superb!!! There is a hammam on the premises and I thought, that a good quality black soap at a spacious bath tub provided a really nice touch. Wifi, available in the common area, worked well. It was a real joy to stay in Riad Ajebel, to meet Frederic and Mohammed and to enjoy their hospitality. I recommend this place to anyone and will stay there again if I return to Marrakesh.
- location, atmosphere, staff
- WIFI could be better - I don't recomend trip offered by Hotel, Travel Agency organised trip in bus without airconditioning when temprature outside was near 40 C. It was extremely uncomfortable.
Frederique, and all her staff were very attentive and polite. The Riad is beautiful, well kept. We scheduled a Hammam and massage on our last day at the Riad and it was wonderful.
The only thing that Needs improvement is the wifi, it would not reach our room. Although the Riad was a little bit far from the center, it was worth it
Great people, very relaxed and very accommodating. Nice price. It's a bit of a walk up Rue de la Kasbah, but that's actually a blessing. Decor very attractive. Great breakfast and food cooked for you if you wish. Terrace nice. Very clean.
All are minor that didn't detract from our stay (please consider these suggestions) You'll probably need help finding it, though the airport transfer (€15) brought us to the door. Wifi could be improved for the rooms. En-suites could have used a door (short curtains) and tended to get very wet.
The staff were all excellent, very helpful and very friendly. Our room was quite large and had a bath and a shower, also in the room was free air conditioning (outside temp was 30 degrees) so was very welcome
The basic Morrocan breakfast, no fridge in the room to keep cooled water and soft drinks, no wardrobe - rooms only had a 'towel rail' with 4 coat hangers to hang clothes!! Also non of the local taxi drivers knew where the Riad was so we had to ensure we kept a map and the Riad business card with us at all times
The staff were very personable and spent time to on arrival to introduce themselves and ask if we needed any information and advice with our stay. We were given mint tea and pastries as we chatted. I wanted to buy some Organic Argan Oil so Abdul took us to a amazing lady named Fatima, very nearby who I purchased a lot from. We were also taken on a mini tour so we could find our way back to the Raid. The Riad is beautiful and our room was decorated with fresh rose petals on arrival. The breakfast is delicious. On our departure morning we were leaving very early 6am, I didn't except to be given breakfast however the staff went out of their way to give us something before we left. They are very kind. I would definitely return here again. I love this city and the people at Riad Ajebel made it even better. Thank you!
The owner is absolutely wonderful! He came to meet us from the cab so that we were sure to find the place, greeted us with tea and cookies, helped us set up other taxis/buses/etc (anything we needed), gave us wonderful suggestions for places to eat, and the list could continue on and on! The place itself is beautiful and intimate! I will absolutely stay here if/when ever I come back to Marrakech! I didn't want to leave!!
If I have to say something, it would only be that at first, it seemed like a "sketchy" location, simply because it's in a small alley. But that was not ever a problem because it is well lit at night and perfectly harmless during the day! Book this place for a wonderful Moroccan experience!!
Noise from road on rooftop.
Lovely staff- especially Abdul who took great care of us. Mint tea and biscuits after a crazy day in the medina was always a pleasure to come back to. Loved the products in the bathroom- felt like a spa!
Absolutely loved the traditional design of the hotel. Great value for money. Very good breakfast. There is a gentleman working there that manages the hotel and he does a fantastic job accommodating your every need, though the French lady owner can be somewhat discourteous.
A little difficult to find the hotel since it's in the back alleyways of the city. Internet signal was not strong enough in the rooms.
lovely riad, could be slightly noisy if younger clients staying. very kind staff, good information. the first night meal was a bonus as we arrived late.
it was cold and wet
