What a beautiful Riad. The pictures don't do it justice. And the staff are phenomenal. Omar was extremely helpful and quite a personality. I lost my phone in the cab from the train station late at night and he was able to track it down the next morning. Very impressive!

Our only complaint was that the beds were almost comically hard. However, as we've discovered, that's fairly commonplace, so I don't think we could have done better elsewhere. And we still slept pretty well after a full day of walking around.

Beautiful luxuriant riad with spacious highly comfortable and impressively decorated rooms, suite accommodation we booked felt almost palatial to myself and my daughter. Breakfast was plentiful, delicious and varied, and Omar proved a highly hospitable, gracious and friendly host. The riad was very easily found, right next to one of the medina's gates which was well known to all taxi drivers. would highly recommend this riad for a taste of old style luxury and high quality service.

Exceptional service, very friendly and helpful staff, secure and 10 min to the medina. Beautiful courtyard with a friendly parrot add to the charm. Will go again "InshaAllah" (God willing)

Because we arrived during Ramadan, the riad was sparsely populated. Omar, without our prompting, upgraded our room to a suite, which was much appreciated. In general, Omar was informative and engaging. In Morocco, riads are decidedly the way to go. Al Bartal was no exception.

    Nothing.

Gorgeous riad with beautiful courtyard. My room was huge and tastefully decorated. Food was outstanding. The staff, primarily Omar and Abdul, were extremely friendly and helpful. They arranged two day trips for me and bought my tickets for the Sacred Music Festival.

Locstin is quiet but a bit removed. Sometimes could be tough to get a taxi from.

Room had the double bed on a loft and a single bed on the ground. Very inconvenient since the one A/C unit could not cool the loft below 25 Celsius. Couldn't sleep until 3am. Carpets unclean and gave my daughter an allergy rash and we had to walk out to allow them to clean up again. Staff friendly. B/f ordinary. In general we felt that the Riad-stay experience is over rated. When you are traveling I would any day prefer a modern hotel with good amenities. You can always visit the Glaoui palace to see what a Riad looks like. The red taxi in Fes is very convenient and can take you to the Medina for next to nothing.

Gorgeous Riad- step off the street into what appears to be a palace. The Riad is beautifully restored, tastefully decorated, comfortable and happily lacking the "stuffy" atmosphere of many places. We felt entirely relaxed, the staff were exceptional- helpful, kind, lovely. The food is wonderful- don't miss dinner (the best tangine I've ever had). Love the parrot (not for dinner- a pet)! Also, an excellent location and very good value. This Riad is welcoming of couples, groups and families.

Well...... I think there was a loose knob or something in our room.... It would be impossible for me to think of any significant complaint.

The riad is beautiful. All facilities were very good too. The staff were friendly but not quite the family feeling that is described.

A room on the courtyard doesn't give you a lot of peace and quiet always especially as the courtyard area ( which is beautiful ) is used as a restaurant in the evening. I found the evening meal a bit of a disappointment in quality and price in comparison to what can be found out in Fes itself. For us maybe a bit too formal.

The interior garden is closed by a plastic roof. Because of that there is no real "air circulation" and lack of sunlight. You feel a bit in a closed room. In the room we had, we could allways smell the fireplace wich is not confortable.

Everything!!! One of the best places that we have ever stayed in. The Riad itself was just beautiful! And then the details; from the ornaments about the place to the dinnerware, such attention to detail. The breakfast was fantastic, and changed slightly each day. Omar one of the hosts was super chatty and helpful. Was nice to relax with a book on one of the beautiful hangout areas, with a nice cold beer!! A secure car parking building is just 2 mins walk away. Note to Riad: the price per night is way too cheap!!

Very nice decorated hotel. Staff is very friendy and the food is excellent. They were also very friendly to our small boy and the babybed was very good.

No direct daylight in rooms. Music in evening is very nice, but every evening the same.

We can't say enough great things about the staff at Riad al Bartal. My husband got sick on our second night there and Omar and Abdel in particular went out of their way to help us and to make us comfortable. Our stay at Riad al Bartal and the kindness and friendship shown to us by the staff there were the silver lining to the debilitating sickness my husband suffered.

What an exceptional place at the outskirts of the medina, which trust me makes things so much easier to find, especially in a place like Fes. It has a wonderful courtyard to lounge and relax in. Also the staff speaks great English for everyone that isn't that great with Arabic or French. The dinner is absolutely worth every penny even though it is more than eating in town. Also they have a great wine selection to choose from just in case you're interested in tasting the local wines. I sure will be back to this place and I can't wait for it.

It's not so much a minus of the hotel, but I think you can do quite well without a guide in this town even though it is confusing and you will get lost, but that's half the fun. So just take the risk and enjoy.

Very nice and helpful staff. The main hall is beautiful and full of plants. Useful position if you don't want to get lost every time you come home (and that can be an advantage in Fés). Good breakfast. The parrot singing adds a very nice atmosphere.

The bathroom may need a bit of refurbishing; the lighting is a bit sad at moments and the area is not the liveliest in Fés, although very handy for taxis; WI-FI isn't very strong.

"This is a lovely riad situated just a few metres from one of the lesser gates to the medina and in a quiet and safe locality. The interior is really lovely with an elegant courtyard and very tastefully decorated rooms and public areas. The staff are really helpful. Breakfast was tasty as were the evening meals that can be ordered on a daily basis.Everything had a really traditional feel but with no modern comfort spared. Highly recommended.

Evening meals were a bit expensive by local standards and it would be nice to be able to linger over coffee which is only offered if requested.
