This is a very nice riad in the middle of the souk of Marrakesh. It is very clean and comfortable and the staff are exceptional - Mamoun and Ali were very helpful and looked after us during our stay. We had dinner in the riad one evening and it was superb- traditional Moroccan tagine. I would recommend this Riad unreservedly. When we first arrived we were picked up at the airport and driven to the edge of the main square. From there we walked to the riad through the maze of the alleys that are the souk. We came to the riad through a dark uninviting alleyway. At first we were intimidated thinking we would never be able to find our way to the riad. This was not a problem at all. Dont be put off by the route to get to the riad!

The riad is close to the souks and is in pretty good shape. The hotel pick up did not work for me because my flight was delayed. I sent texts to the hotel to update them. However, other riads picked up people from my flight. I was told to get a taxi to the central square to be picked up there. Waiting at the central square for ten minutes at 1:30 AM is not ideal. I was told I'd be reimbursed 15 euros for the 20 euro taxi ride. Instead I got a free ride to the airport, which normally costs 10 euros. The location can be difficult to find at first. The map they gave me was a very poor photocopy and not very useful. The handwritten directions were more useful. Finally, you cannot lock your room. I don't know if this is standard in riads and/or Morocco, but it's very unusual from my experience

Great hospitality from the staff, always offering mint tea and a friendly chat. Lovely rooftop terrace, although a little cold in the winter mornings. Beautiful open central courtyard, candlelit at night. Jacuzzi was great, with bathrobes included. Good breakfast with plenty of fresh orange juice. Lots of advice about Marrakesh and its attractions. The location of the Riad initially seemed a bit daunting, as it was through the souks and then down a residential lane, though was actually great once we got to know the area a bit better.

The staff was extremely friendly and polite. At least two of them spoke very good English. Of the 5 hotels I stayed at while touring Morocco, this one had the most comfortable bed of them all. Breakfast was lovely, the wi-fi worked great in the common area. Nice showers. A personal safe in your room. The decor and ambience is a nice touch. While it is very close to the famous Jemaa el-Fnaa market, this riad was quite difficult to find the first time. I made a mistake by not contacting these guys to get walking directions or a ride from the train station; instead, I simply took a taxi from the train station to Jemaa el-Fnaa, and began searching on my own. Soon I was accosted by many a "guide" wanting to take me there. I finally agreed to pay one of them, but it was well after dark and, on the way to the riad, my "guide" picked up one of his friends and the two of them took me down one small corridor after another--it was only a few minutes walking distance from the market, but it was tucked away enough that there was almost no foot traffic and no light. I was wondering if I was about to be mugged by my guide and his friend. They got me to the riad, eventually, and BOTH of them wanted way more money than I had agreed to pay the first guy. This is apparently quite common in Morocco. Once I knew how to get there, it wasn't too difficult. But GET WALKING DIRECTIONS FROM THE RIAD, OR--BETTER YET--HAVE THEM ARRANGE A TAXI FROM WHEREVER YOU'RE COMING FROM. The riad is great, but my first impression of the city was a bad one because of my failure to make arrangements/get directions. Please learn from my mistake! :)

Riad Al Mamoune was an exceptional authentic experience due to the welcome and attention to detail in Marakech. The rooms are exquisite. One I will treasure for a lifetime. The host, Manu, made every comfort available and the love and care in this home was amazing. The breakfast was served in style and returning to the riad after the chaos of the souk each day blissful.

Lovely little riad right in the heart of the Marrakesh souks, tucked down a side alley, so brilliant for shopping but away from the crowds. It was very helpful to be picked up from the airport the evening we arrived (offered for stays of 3 nights) because finding the riad might have been difficult otherwise, so that was much appreciated. Breakfast was usual Moroccan bread, jam, juice, tea, pancakes (which are better here than other places we stayed). When it was fine, this was served on the pretty roof terrace. Our room (Tan Tan) was next to the stairs that come up to the first floor and continue up to the terrace which meant that on the first day we were woken by clacking footsteps and chatter outside the room. Having said that, ear plugs did the trick the next morning – it is a riad after all, so one expects some noise from the patios etc, so just a recommendation to take ear plugs.

Very nice and friendly riad-manager. We had a family room, very well decorated and quiet. Comfortable shower and a very good breakfast outside on the terrace. Nice location, in the middle of the souks, close to the big square. Small, a bit scarring street to the entrance of the riad

The friendly staff in particular Ali who cooked us a delicious meal when we got back from our trip in the Atlas mountains on Valentines Day, as well as decorating the lounge for us to eat it in! The jacuzzi is nice after a day in the souk, and so is the roof terrace. The walk to the Riad down a small derb (alley) was a bit offputting. Also the Mogador Room is on the ground floor right off the central courtyard area and the windows don't block out any sound so it doesn't feel very private.

Mooie riad, centrale ligging. Vriendelijk personeel, lekker eten (zowel ontbijt als diner). Pick-up mogelijk op vliegveld. Geen sleutel voor de kamerdeur. Ligging in achterafsteegje, maar indien bekend makkelijk terug te vinden.

“The riad Dar Beldia is a great place to be in Marrakech. It’s very quiet as you are not directly in the main center of the medina but you will reach the most important places within a 10-minutes-walk. The manager Simo and his colleagues are very friendly and helpful. Look forward to - well furnished and clean rooms with air condition (a big plus when you have over 40 degrees outside) - a small pool inside to cool down and a really nice roof terrace to relax after a tiring day in the hot city - a nice sweet breakfast to start into the day We would recommend this riad without restrictions of any kind. ” Rebecca, Köln |
