HOST Alain - a fantastic person who made us feel at home and who looked after as like we were his friends. Even though we did not have much French and his English was limited - we found a ways to communicate and have a laugh. FOOD - exquisite! Some of the best meals while travelling in Morocco for 2 weeks. Couple of days we even had all three meals there that we normally would not do - and even then they managed to surprise us! ROOMS - very comfortable and beautifully decorated - huge bathtubs! GARDEN - the fantastic views of ever changing mountains, the fantastic daybeds to hide in from African sun and swimming pool to cool down and beautifully landscaped gardens with olives, oranges, lemons groves. Beautifully lit up at night time
- exquisite cuisine - perfect service - extraordinary and very comfortable suites - generous spaces all over the place - calm - beautiful garden - pool - stunning view - The owner, Alain
The owners' (Alain) hospitality knows no boundaries. The staff (all French speaking) were courteous, had a great sense of humour and could not do enough to assist with any request. Despite the language difference, everything possible was done to make our stay memorable. There is no menu.Dinner comprised of whatever we fancied and was prepared for us. Breakfast was simple, not a great deal of choice but with a request for eggs or something different it was served with a smile. The riad was an oasis of calm.the outdoor swimming pool was not heated but clean and refreshing. Any excursions can be arranged and again the owner goes above and beyond to satisfy. Horses are on site and also a hammam, massages are available and 1 days notice is required to ensure the hammam is heated correctly. Neighbouring dogs and goats coupled with the odd Cockerel can be heard throughout the night but the air conditioned rooms are in such a position that the noises do not disturb. 2 dogs on site laze in the sunshine and collapse at your feet after a hard days breathing. Fresh fruit juices, English tea, mint tea, coffee etc are all available throughout the day and a selection of alcohol is also provided although not a massive selection. All alcohol is premium rate but reasonably priced given that Morocco is a dry country, approximately £4 for a small can of lager and £18 for a bottle of local wine. The transfer to and from the airport is provided free of charge and is hassle free. An email to the owner prior to departure is all that is required. If you are looking for an informal..get away from it all...relaxing break that has beautiful scenery a host who dedicates his home to his guests and a comfortable nights sleep, then this is the place for you.
A plus as well as a minus..location doesn't allow for a quick walk to shops/cafes.
A brief but very memorable stay ! A wonderful feeling of being revitalised at the end of our adventure. To have seen the delights of the enchanting countryside. To have tasted a multitude of dishes with authentic flavours. In short, au ideal place for a change of scenery and relaxation, where you are treated like a real friend.
Surface conditions of some parts of the road to Riyadh call for extra care when driving.
