Very friendly personal
The Riad is at the northern end of the Medina and quite out of the way.
We had a fantastic stay at Riad Alwane which is a lovely quiet Riad with luxurious beds and a lovely warm shower. We asked for extra blankets as we arrived during the coldest month of the year and found the stay really comfortable. We had a delicious Tagine meal one evening rather than eat out which was freshly prepared for us and the breakfasts every day were the best we have had in morocco with lovely variations.
The location is the only bad point since it is fairly quiet after dark in the alleys leading to the Riad and you can feel a little lonely after dark navigating your way there. Its a little too far to try and navigate from here to the center of town too, though its possible to walk around the city walls fairly easily and to the Ville Nouveax in about an hour.
First of all, most people in Morocco speak French and Arabic. This didnt pose a problem as Ibrahim (the owner) was super friendly and got straight on google translator. The Riad is a welcome oasis in the hustle and bustle of Marrakesh with the rooftop terrace being the icing on the cake. Breakfast was lovely consisting of coffee, selection of pastries and bread with Morocco's fantastic orange juice (never tasted anything like it). Ibrahim was so accommodating he even offered to make me an omelette at 9.30pm on a Friday night! Legend.
We stayed there for a week and we were really pleased. First, there was the very nice, very welcoming, helpful staff - Patrick, Brahim, Abdullah, Zahra, Meryem... they made the beautiful Riad even more beautiful. Our room (we even have been upgraded to a bigger room because it wasn't booked) was perfect, clean, nicely decorated. Breakfast in the yard and sometimes tea in the afternoon were very enjoyable. Also the sun terrace was really great. We loved our stay here and would totally recommend Riad Alwane. We'd love to come back one day.
Nothing :) A few remarks to the critical comments before: - Some people critiziced that it's far from the center: you can see on the map that the main sights aren't around the corner, but we also enjoyed the walks in the center (you also could get a taxi nearby) and the quietness. - another point was the location in "a slum": it's probably not the richest neighbourhood in Marrakech, but it's definitely not a slum. We (two women around 30) always felt safe, even when walking around alone in the late evening.
Staff was friendly, available untill late hours, its a cute hidden quiet oase, they are very flexible with breakfast times (if you have a tour)
There was no restaurant inside, its a bit hard to find, the swimmingpool is just suitable for a dip.
The place is really cool! It's clean, safe, and the staff is very friendly and helpful even though they don't speak much English
Finding the riad was a bit hard, and eventually you have to ask some locals who will go for some tips as everywhere in the medina
Located in the middle if the Medina. The owner was very accommodating and helpful and prepared some omelettes when we arrived. Our room was on the ground floor and it was very humid.
Unfortunately the room at the ground floor doesn't have a proper door on the patio so during the night we could hear everything that was going on. Not a problem if you go to bed late and you get up early.
Peaceful, affordable, good security, nice bathrooms, friendly staff.
Very difficult to find, far away, staff does not speak English.
The building is beautiful The staff are lovely The food is mostly good Short walk to the Medina and Gueliz
Excellent food for an amazing price, the freezing dip pool was very refreshing, very clean.
Air conditioning was poor, it didn't keep us cool and we didn't have full control over it which was annoying. Wifi had a poor signal and could only be reached at certain areas of the Riad.
Peaceful, with pool in the shade and terrace for sun bathing. Bathroom was good, room also, although a bit small. Helpful staff.
Quite far from the Souk and main square, which makes it peaceful, but it is easy to get lost and people on the streets will take advantage of lost tourists, (mis)guiding you for money.
Breakfasts were lovely, the Riad itself is really pretty and comfortable and the owner, Ibrahim was exceptionally helpful and friendly - we loved Riad Alwane!
It was very clean, lovely food, lovely staff and a real rest from the hustle and bustle
Its a little too far out from the main square and main sights of Marakech, but as a result it was very peaceful and quiet
Everything was great
