Our room was a good size for the three of us with an excellent bathroom. However we were on the ground floor and with frosted glass there was very little natural light. The breakfast included as part of the price was great and varied each day our stay. Martine helped us book any excursions we wanted which was very helpful.
There was some disconnect between Martine and her staff. As three young female travelers, walking at night from the main street (well lit etc) through the winding streets to the Riad, when dark and no one around, was a little intimidating. We were assured that after the hours of midnight, if we were to return then we could call the Riad and someone would come and collect us from the main street - an excellent and very reassuring service. However when we rang, we were told to simply come to the Riad and we would be let in. There was also some difficulty at the end of our stay, withthe passports we had locked in the safe of the front desk (as we had already checked out). Our taxi arrived and we were told that only Martine or Hassan (who were not there at this time) could open the safe, so there was some waiting around until they arrived - all a little nerve-wracking when you have a flight to catch! Overall a great stay, but things like this can be easily fixed with a bit more communication between staff.
Illustrates the traditional housing in Marrakech - Riad - was a nice place to stay - relaxing and scenic. Rooms slightly small but not an issue Once you located it - its easy to travel to - 15mins walk from the center
The bathroom shower cap was broken -pressure was very poor and temperature kept changing from cold to hot suddenly - which was not good when your showering! Breakfast was standard nothing special - other meals at hotel over priced When you are welcomed - they offer you drinks - I didn't want any and requested a glass of water - they charged me €1.5 for the bottle and only found out at the end- so be careful - nothing is free!
the location , the comfort , the price, the helpfulness. Thanks Martine! chris and Lisa x
This was our second time in Marrakech in a week (split up by a trip to Imlil). We booked this riad to save a bit of money and to try a different area. The riad exceeded our expectations and was excellent value. The room was large with high ceilings and basic but large bathroom facilities. While there are staff in attendance all day and night, the French couple who (apparently) own the riad are there in the morning to offer tips and assistance with onward bookings. They were extremely helpful on our second morning, in particular calling Europcar Marrakech for me several times, helping me with a slightly infuriating negotiation (I won’t bore you with the details). Quality of sleep was good, mainly due to the riad being very quiet. Breakfasts were simple but fine. The internet was the fastest I have had in six months of travel (a nice bonus, rather than something you expect in a Morrocan riad!).
The area is more ‘local’ than the other area we stayed in Marrakech and might feel a little intimidating for some (not for us, but a female couple who were also staying there did not enjoy the location) – mainly a perception issue as the area seemed perfectly safe. It would be a simple task to put up two or three signs with the riad’s name on it to assist in finding it from the nearest road. We pride ourselves on our map reading and navigation, but this riad is a little difficult to find using the booking.com, tripos and google maps (and it is incorrectly located on Triposo). English speaking staff were not available at all times during the day to assist us with issues (see positives) which led to us having to stay an extra night at the riad (which was actually a blessing in disguise as we very much enjoyed a second night here).
Walking distans to the Suks. Quiet neighbourhood. Little spartan palace with friendly staff. No kids present.
Missing cheese at breakfast for some reason... Easy to fix :)
Everything. The Riad is beautiful, very traditional and atmospheric. Staff very friendly and efficient. Good facilities: hot shower, massive stone bath, modern yet traditional looking furniture, good attention to detail. Lovely terrace to sunbathe on.
My only complaint was that the bed was a little hard and the pillows were too soft and thin which didnt balance out the hardness of the mattress. I'm being pedantic though as literally everything else was GREAT!
Like most riads, you never expect to find such a paradise in this sort of part of the city. We loved the tranquility, decor and feeling of the place. We got here right after our long journey and we relaxed immediately.
The riad has a fairly large plunge pool, which was really enjoyable. The rooms are nicely furnished.
The staff were unhelpful and we wasted a lot of our holiday due to their incompetence.
Excellent location and amazing lady Martine who was warm welcoming and have excellent advise and tips. She and her staff made us welcomed and relaxed! Were sorry to have had to leave! Friendly clean hospitable and best Riad or hotel we have stayed at' we will be back! Food was the best in Morrocco! It made our holiday! Location was the best central but quite only a short walk to Jamaa El Fna!
Very friendly staff and good location to get to the tourist spots. Room was cleaned daily and provided with fresh towels and toiletries. The riad has a nice sized dipping pool to cool down in and a really great roof terrace which was great for relaxing in the evenings.
No tap water available on request, you have to buy bottled water from the riad. Breakfast could have some more variety.
The owner and staff of Riad Amira are all very friendly, kind, and extremely helpful to their guests. The breakfasts were wonderful and we ate dinner there one night - also excellent! We loved the charm and comfort of this riad, and would recommend it to anyone!
Riad in convenient location in Kasbah. Lovely staff - very helpful. On those evenings when we didn't feel like going into town for dinner had excellent meals at the riad in the beautiful central courtyard.
smoking was allowed in the central courtyard. quite a few of the guests smoked which I found a bit unpleasant particularly at breakfast
Riad Amira is a lovely accomodation with pretty bedrooms in traditional marrocan style, a lovely swimming pool and a great rooftop for sunbathing. You get a nice traditional breakfast from the friendly staf. The owner, martine, is very friendly and helps you to get around in Marrakech. The riad is in the middle of the crowded medina, but when you are in your room, its very calm and relaxed! We are very happy with our stay in riad amira!
Riad Amira - A wonderful stay in the the Kasbah region of Medina. Far enough from the main square, however within walking distance of 10-15mins. You ideally want to be away from there in the evenings as it is heaving! Riad Amira is a great place as it can offer a sanctuary away from the hustle and bustle that is Marrakech. Martine, the owner, was incredibly helpful and friendly, we enjoyed a few drinks with her one evening. The pool is great for relaxing in, and the terrace upstairs with the loungers are great for catching sun. Rooms are very traditional Riad style. So if you are used to hotels such as ourselves, you will be in for a bit of change as creature comforts are not there. Such as a TV, Phone etc. However, why stay in a traditional Riad if you want these?! Saying that, there is free wifi, and even the top hotels charge for this! All in all, a great stay, staff are very friendly and helpful, Hassan to mention one. Incredibly nice guy, who will make your stay comfortable as possible. Three words - Peaceful, Friendly and Relaxing come to mind when summing up Riad Amira. I would only regard reviews from May 2014 onwards, as that is when Martine took over.
Theres a few things that need tidying up, such as sockets and finishing on walls and some decoration. Howevr, Martine has only recently taken over, and spoke at length with us about the changes to expect. So watch this space, as this Riad will only get better.
Location, roof terrace, rooms, beds, staff
Aircon broken in one room and not fixed during our stay. Breakfast wasn't great - just bread really.
Location, room, breakfast, hygiëne, swimmingpool.
I often travel to Marrakech and it was the 1st time I stopped by Riad Amira .... FANTASTIC !!!! The place is peaceful and well decorated, the staff is really pleasant and always happy to help and the atmosphere is just ... amazing. After a long day running the souk it is a pleasure to enter the riad and enjoy a nice mint tea next to the pool or on the roof terrace ! I strongly recommande the place !!!!
NOTHING IT IS PERFECT
Really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. The Riad was lovely and very personal. Thank you!
Riad Amira is a beautiful riad with pleasant. & helpful staff who go out of their way to be obliging.
It's a beautiful hotel, tastefully decorated and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.
Rooms can get a bit cold in the Winter and the WiFi was a bit moody.
The shared areas were nicely decorated, as well as the roof top.
The riad is located in a dodgy alley which really felt unsafe during evenings, especially since young, aggressive men tried to sell you drugs and other things. The staff was at multiple occasions unpleasant and unhelpful, many times refusing to help you call a taxi or make dinner reservations. The rooms were cold, damp and the shower barely functioning. When mentioning this to the owner we were met with unexplainable disrespect. Our last days we stayed at another riad, Riad Dar Alfarah, close to the first one with complete different standards for the same price which once again marked the low quality of Riad Amira.
Everything was perfect, Alix the owner made everything to make our stay unforgettable
The relaxation of the riad was wonderful, you would never know of all the hustle & bustle going on outside. The roof top area was lovely. Very friendly staff, nothing was any trouble for them. They were always helpful with advise, making reservations & booking taxi's. Some of us had been before & would recommend an organised trip to the Altlas mountains & to see how the other half live at the NIkki beach! Some good shopping for souvenirs.
Having to be aware of some people trying to get money from you. It seemed even if you asked for directions they wanted something. A bit unsettling for anyone travelling alone.
it was a good experience, the staff was amazing and very friendly. the breakfast was good.
the double bed was very comfortable but had two single mattresses joint together which move at night. therefore the night was a bit of an issue.
Staff were excellent. Atmospheric Riad ,cultural and exotic. Location close to everything in old town. Great value for money
Can be a little intimidating at night due to quiet location in back streets although no problems encountered. Hassle from shop keepers and local guides.
