    1. rooms are of good value (price, space, furniture) 2. very helpful, polite and accommodating staff. 3. a simple place yet of very high comforting spirit. 4. though others dont like the prepared breakfast because of the small menu served, i find it to be enough for a good meal. 5. close to mohammad el khamis school, away by 5 minutes walking.

    1. hard to find (but it is a common thing with all the places in the medina, due to the layout of the medina itself). 2. no hot water was available (it was manageable because of the summer weather )

Very beautiful riad! Much more than in the pictures.

Be aware of the hustlers that will try to take you to the riad, Set the price before you go with them. Marrakech is a lot more crowded than other maroccan cities and the people on the streets are not so nice.

This is a beautiful Riad that is reasonably clean and comfortable. It has air conditioning, which is a definite plus. The food in their restaurant is incredible. Honestly, we have tried tagines all over Morocco and haven't had anything that compares. Even if you don't stay here, EAT HERE! Also, the staff here is really good. They are overworked, which is a shame, but very friendly and helpful. The place is nicely decorated with intricate and beautiful details. The rooms are comfortable. Our shower was a bit slow to drain, but it wasn't a problem. Overall, we would recommend this place.

The owner is kind of a douchebag. He only shows up for an hour a day at 5pm and will not allow his perfectly capable staff to check people in. He also seems to under appreciate them and the fact that without them, the place would not be running. When we arrived, it was about 4pm and we had to wait for an hour for him to come before we could get into our room. We ended up going to another city and then coming back to Riad Amssaffah, having pre-booked and prepaid. Despite that, when we returned, he had given our room away. We had to ask him to find us another place and then he tried to charge US the $15 difference. After our protests he did cover it himself, although he tried to make us feel guilty about it.

This Riad is an oasis of tranquillity in the centre of the medina, what makes this place special are the staff. The rooms are air conditioned and decorated like the rest of the Riad in a Morracan style, each room is slightly different. There are several areas on the ground floor to hide and relax or dip in the pool to cool down and refresh yourself after loosing you're self in the maze of little streets, which is part of the fun in visiting this vibrant and colourful city, be prepared to have you're senses sent into overdrive. There is a large roof terrace with excellent views over the city and mountains especially during sunrise and sunsets, ideal for sunbathing during the day or for sitting down with a drink, stargazing in the evening.

There are a couple of minor negatives. 1) Cleanliness could be better. 2) Minor repairs could be improved. 3) Sun terrace is not used to its full potential. That all said I would return here again in a heartbeat.

Fantastic traditional riad in a wonderful location. Helpful staff and small but comfortable rooms. Stay here to feel truly in Morocco for a price that doesn't break the bank.

I liked everything about Riad Amssaffah, it made my visit to Marrakech!

Scalaci and the rest of the staff were very helpful and very accomodating. Large, clean rooms and bathrooms. We had an issue with no water in our room (top floor) the first few nights, but we were given a different room when we returned and one night free.

Sometimes our room on the top floor didn't have water during our first visit. It's a bit far from the main square, especially if you don't know the short cut.

-Amazing staff, which were very welcoming. (Ask for Skilaschi (!) ... and tell him to sleep more ;) -Great location, in the middle of the medina, yet very quiet (like an oase) -Beautiful building, in a fascinating arabic style. -The rooms were spacious and had style.

-Breakfast could be a little bit more diverse, yet for this price... good enough.

We really liked Scalachi , he was the perfect host very welcoming and helpful. A very hard worker, kind and always polite.

Lack of cleaning, particularly in the bedroom. No clean towels were offered or toilet paper.

The managers Amid and Aliza were great! Very helpful and charismatic and extremely caring for all the guests. The Riad itself is beautiful. It's right in the middle of the Medina, with a huge open courtyard and a top floor that looks out over the entire city. A small pool in the middle with lounge areas on the first floor. For its cost, the Riad is spectacular and has major value. you feel transported to a few centuries ago into a foreign and romantic land.

Only half of the lightbulbs in my room worked, but wasn't a major concern.

Most amazing hotel in antique Moroccan style in the middle of Medina near Marrakech museum. An unexpected quiet oasis of heaven through Medina's maze of little streets. Beautiful antique carpets, furniture, decorations. Swimming pool, deck chair roof terras. Beautiful bedroom with kingsize bed and amazing antique furniture. Amazing value for such an outstanding hotel. Very friendly staff. Be prepared for a real treat!! Very suitable for families with children or teenagers too as its two steps walking from middle of Medina and has swimming pool and big roof terras for sunbathing or playing. Very spacious, most beautiful bedrooms with air-conditioning. A very unique and exotic experience

At first the staff appeared a little short with us but after a while they were very kind and helpful and gave us much information about the area, safety, do's and dont's and things to do. The room we booked wasn't as nice as we saw online but it was clean and the hotel itself was gorgeous, very traditional and clean, beautifully decorated and a very central location in the old part of the city, 15 minute walk to the central square.

The pool is a LOT smaller than appears online, not really possible to swim in! We also had a couple of glasses of wine which were pricey. We also didn't have a front door key and had to buzz every time we wanted to come in which was a slight pain if we came back late in the evenings, we were waiting outside for quite some time at some points.

While staying at this Riad was no 5 star hotel it was the real thing and we all liked it. The place was colorful, it is right smack dab in the middle of the old city and the family that ran the place were great.breakfast every morning was free and ready to go at 7:00.

The hot water situation was okay as long as you used really early or pretty late

This hotel is a big disappointment. They have nice things, like the roof terrace and hang out area. But things in the room never work! We paid for a superior room for 60 euros, then the door could not be locked, the old TV only has 2 channels in Arabic. Then they changed the room for us, into a triple room. Then the toilet doesn't flush... Even after they came to 'rapair', and said its ok, it didnt work. So we have to flush the toilet manually. Then some lights in the room didn't work. Also the air conditioner stopped working. The room was facing the inner yard, very loud at night. Because they don't give key for the main entrance, so people always have to ring the bell when they come back. Very old facilities. Cleanness has to be improved greatly. Staff was really not helpful. Totally not worth the price! I wouldn't recommend to stay here if you have a choice!

The Riad is larger than other Riads I stayed at. The building was unique and both the staff and the guests were interesting people, more so than other Riads I stayed at. The building was super cool and interesting but not maintained well. For instance the bathroom door did not close because the building had shifted due to age but hadn't been fixed. I would totally stay here again because the place had great energy and frankly the little problems I reference don't bother me too much.

We stayed two nights; Our room was not made up after the first night; there was no hot water once when I wanted to shower.

All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The roof terrace could have been a lovely place to sun bathe. However the furniture was old, uncomfortable and it was like a dumping area. The pool looked beautiful on photos, but was small and did not look clean. It was in the middle of the dining area so I doubt anyone ever used it. The superior rooms are no better than the basic ones. I would not pay for an upgrade!

The staff were all lovely especially Fatima

Superior room had a TV that was broke, no mini bar and a faulty toilet. The food was basic. The roof terrace was a mess and the pool was more like a pond!

If you want a traditional Morrocan experience you cannot do better than the Amssaffah, if you want western luxury don't go to the old town of Marrakech. The staff are excellent and make you very welcome

What is there not to like?
