Bedroom was specious and the place was clean. Breakfast included in the price- really cheap.

There could be more flowers/ trees in the tarrace-but really... No big deal

The hotel was nice and comfy.

Not easy to find. Hotel tried in many ways to get money. He asked me 200 dirhams to have the shuttle to the airport, which normally tops costs 50 dirhams. When I wanted to pay he could not give money back so I paid more than I should have.

Fairly close to centre but still got the peace and quietness.

The staff were quite friendly but only spoke to us if he needed some more money from us. He didn't spend nearly as much time talking with us as he did with single female travellers. Location also terrible. Would've been hard to find without pick-up at airport (who arrived very late!) and the alleyways are full of children who are constantly harassing you for money. Breakfast was horrible and dry, not a great deal of variety, just bits of bread and dilute coffee. The rooms did not look like the pictures at all! Plus compared to other Riads, there is no communal area as such and the decor is very poor indeed. Our supposedly "private" bathroom was actually not an ensuite and we and to walk across the courtyard to access it- very awkward especially is someone is having breakfast in the courtyard. Also, lots of cockroaches in the bathroom and some in our room too! One night, the male staff had left the door open when he went out for a bit and we could hear the children squabbling directly outside the door (maybe deciding whether to come in or not- who know?). This made us feel very unsafe! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Far better Riads for much better prices!

We travelled to Marrakech with our 4-months-old twins and were very happy to arrive at the Riad and felt so welcomed by the staff. The receptionist Mohamed was very friendly and helpful. Thank you very much! If we come back to Marrakech, we'll definitely want to stay at Riad Amskal again! :)

Location was 5 minutes from the square, still very quiet at night so best of both worlds in central location. Staff were faultless, always willing, accomadating and smiling. Beds/rooms were fine for the price, very clean, big comfy beds, ac and WiFi were great. Very well priced excursions through Riad, pick up/drop off services, free airport transfer, and free gifts when we left which was nice touch.

Walking through alleys at night, however the royal house was near so well policed, and lots of families/children lived in the area. safer option than Medina.

I loved our stay at the Riad, really good value for the money. The staff was excellent, especially Mohammad at the reception, he was outstandingly nice and helpful.

We always got lost in the alleyway s :) But actually it's not hard to find the way after a while.

Riad secluded yet convenient walking distance from Jemaa el-F'na. Reduced street parking fees (20 dhirams) as opposed to rip-off 50 in the Medina. Decent bathroom with proper curtained shower (not always the case). Breakfast adequate but not stellar. We only stayed a night before morning flight out so can't fairly comment on staff.

You need a lot of help to find the place. Google map generated by booking site useless. Be prepared to pay neighbourhood kids 10 dhirams a head to show you the way. Cars cannot approach the riad, so it's quite a long walk from the wide street ending at the hospital.

the staff were really friendly and gave us some good advice.Nadia and Abdul were very good at their job of running riad.I would stay there again as it was in a great location and value for money.

on the roof there is a pole which comes out of the floor.I think it should be covered as i nearly went over because my foot caught it.

Really friendly and homely. Perfect small riad to feel comfortable, safe and well situated to see Marrakech.

    nothing in particular.

Reasonably central location. Peaceful (apart from an intermittent pump somewhere!). Wonderful view from roof terrace across Mamounia Hotel gardens. Nicely decorated. We had the roof top terrace room - the Mamounia suite, which was excellent, and quaintly traditional.

They wouldn't let us keep our bicycle in the place - had to take it to a moped park 10 minutes away - nuisance! Other rooms would be somewhat darker I suspect.

Riad Amskal was our little piece of heaven in the busy city of Marrakech. Like all riads we stayed in Morocco, it wasn't so easy to find but once we did, we were warmly greeted by Abdel: one of the friendliest, most helpful hotel staff members I have ever come across in all my travels. We stayed at the terrace room with a view to some gardens so peaceful that you could hardly believe Jemaa el-Fna was just a 10min walk away. At the end of our stay, we left our bags at the reception and Abdel hung out with us while we waited for our bus at 1AM. Awesome guy!

The way to and from the riad can be a little intimidating at night if you're unwilling to take a taxi. Even then, you are dropped of at the beginning of Derb Sidi Mbarek so go early the first time.

    - Staff very friendly - Ideal location

    - Breakfast very average - Heating broken - Live wiring exposed everywhere - Does not look like pictures - Hard to resolve a complaint - Not worth money considering negatives.

Staff is friendly and the rooms looks nice.

It is bit hard to find the hotel and it could be cleaner in it. We missed clean towels and bedding in it, but as for economy tourists it was good.

Staff was friendly, they let me leave my luggage even after checkout while I was running the marathon, and also, they let me have a shower and some rest after that. However, You can not pay by credit card, be prepared for that.

Good location (although hard to find), simple but nice room, reasonable price.

Staff nice and friendly only to get your money, poor breakfasts, many little things broken in a room.

The young lady running the place was very friendly and helpful.

The Booking.com map is totally wrong. As was the map for Domna Studios at Lindos in Rhodes. You really have to do better, as this map put us in an area we didn't want to be. Left for a better area the next day.

Superb, friendly staff really shone through in an otherwise very basic riad. I usually eat in town, or street food, but did try the riad cooking one evening as I was late from a day out and it was excellent, although much more expensive than on the street!

I know Marrakech very well so it wasn't a problem but newcomers to the city should be aware it's a 20 minute walk from this riad to the Djemaa El Fna - and you may get lost!

Riad Amskal was very difficult to find - at the end of a long series of winding roads without street signs. My friend and I arrived separately and were taken aback by the extent to which we were harassed in the medina, despite numerous attempts to shake off the threatening men around us. This experience was worse than when we have traveled in Nairobi, Lima or Johannesburg. We were charged ~€10 more than indicated on the booking (580 Dirham rather than 480). Breakfast was not included. To avoid being harassed again when we left, we requested that the Riad help us book a taxi to the bus station - for which they charged us 150 Dirham (€15) for a 15 minute trip. I would strongly recommend avoiding Riad Amskal and booking somewhere in Marrakech on a major street.
