We stayed at Riad Assakina for 8 nights and from beginning to end we have enjoyed the friendliest and most helpful service we have ever experienced. Michele, Grant and their fantastic team have looked after us so well it has been a privilege to stay here. We arrived in the evening and were somewhat overwhelmed by the sights and sounds of Marrakech! When our driver (who had been arranged to pick us up from the airport by Grant) dropped us at the end of a narrow alleyway and walked us down the alley to a wrought iron gate we were anxious to say the least. Once the door was opened and we entered the Riad Assikina it was, as other reviewers have commented, into an oasis of calm and beauty. We were immediately offered a hot drink and a wonderful welcome, together with enough information to start our Marrakech experience. We appreciated so much being escorted to our chosen restaurant for dinner that evening. The room was so comfortable and beautifully decorated-we loved the tadelakt shower! Throughout our stay our hosts and their team were charming, so helpful and made our stay, in the madness that is Marrakech, wonderful.
This beautiful Riad is superbly designed and caters for total relaxation. The staff are fabulous and the owners are so helpful with anything you need to know their extensive knowledge of Marrakech is priceless. I highly recommend this Riad
The atmosphere within the riad. The attention to detail. The unobtrusive advice from the owner. The staff. The location.
Personal service. Enthusiastic staff passionate about Morocco. Fantastic finishes in the rooms and lovely personal touches.
All services were good.
I had booked a standard room - which turned out to be tiny even by European Standards. For over $120 Euro's a night, even in Spain/Paris I was getting a decent size room. This room was very very small. So I would make sure you understand what you are getting for your money before booking their standard room.
We loved the place, the breakfast was delicious. Our room was spacious and confortable. The owner was very pleasant and genuinely helpful. Our best stay in Morocco. : )
Grant and Michele were amazing hosts, very hospitable. Felt like we were at home. We will refer friends and if we ever come back this is where we will stay!!
We enjoyed a wonderful 4 night stay and fabulous hospitality at Riad Assakina, which allowed us a real introduction to Marrakech. We felt very lucky to have stayed in such a beautiful property, we wanted for nothing and cannot think of any suggestions to improve the guest’s experience – Grant and Michele have thought of everything. The attention to detail encompasses everything you could wish for, from the design of Riad Assakina, (the roof terrace was a great place to unwind after a day of sightseeing) through to the service and conversation from every staff member we encountered, and the tasty breakfasts and tapas we enjoyed. The location was within 5 minutes walk to fabulous, not to be missed, sites - Bahia Palace and Badi Palace; spice and jewellery souks; along with a couple of great restaurants (both memorable for separate reasons: belly dancers / roof terrace). The main square and main souks are only a 15 minute saunter away (even with a broken foot!!). We were completely relaxed after our couple's Hammam, rose bath and massage which Michele organised on our behalf - what an experience! Michele's advice on what to see, where to go, her suggested cost of items we were interested in buying along with fabulous restaurant choices, allowed us a holiday to remember. We would definitely stay here again.
Everything was perfect.
the owners and staff at Assakina take real pride in welcoming their guests. Superb and friendly, one feels really like home at friends. Suberbly decorated. Good tips from the owners and staff about the do's and dont's in Marrakesh for first time visitors. Ideally located in the Mellah, a bit outside the main tourist stream, yet not to far to walk everywhere.
Lovely riad. Staff absolutely lovely and owners really welcoming and helpful.
No negatives at all
Great location in the Mellah, very near the Bahia Palace. Lovely rooms (although a touch smaller than others we encountered in Morocco), and superb hospitality. Also have a beautiful roof terrace. This is the perfect base for sightseeing or chilling.
Lovely attention to detail and all the extra touches around the accommodation make for a memorable stay. Very helpful owners who are on hand to help and advise on the local area.
Hard to find so a pre-arranged taxi is essential.
Stunning Riad, incredibly helpful owners, wonderful staff, delicious tea and cake served every day. A true paradise in the middle of the hustle and bustle. We will be going back!
Michele and her staff were there to meet us on arrival and we felt at home straight away. All her staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I loved the Riad it was so amassing and the decor was fantastic. The roof terrace was fab. We were served afternoon tea and cake every afternoon. I would recommend this to anyone going to visit Marakkach.
General atmosphere and service
The professionalism of the owner and staff who were always ready to meet our needs. The Riad is superbly designed and furnished and is a true haven in the busy area of the Medina.
We had the smallest room (the only one available at time of booking) - the partition between the bedroom and en-suite bathroom has no ceiling which makes for delicate privacy issues!
Staff and location all excellent with some really nice soft touches such as tea or coffee offered in the afternoon.
Location and service fantantastic. Breakfast was substantial and yummy. Michele and Grant really made you feel at home. Ultra chic decor-the salon sofas I love! Such a relaxing stay here great after the hustle and bustle of the souks.
Very friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast and mid-afternoon treats, great location. The place is spotless and beautiful decorated. We strongly recommend it for a long weekend in Marrakesh.
It was a beautiful Riad with good sized rooms in a convenient location. Very well kept and amazingly friendly staff.
A real oasis in the Medina and the staff was extremely helpful.
The area surrounding the riad is not wonderful and in the first day a bit shocking. By the second day you get used to it, specially as you enter the Riad
Very friendly and service minded. Good suggestions for what to do. Lovely place. Great location. Very good food - we tried several recommended restaurants, but dinner here was the best.
The staff were wonderfully welcoming, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful ...and there were special touches such as tea and Morrocan pastries, fruit in the room and chocolates on the pillow at bedtime! Michele gave us a lot of tips on where to go and organised a great hammam. The location is great for the sites, the souk and kasbah; it is easy to get a taxi to the Majorelle gardens and the area around it.
Stunning, elegant and spotless place; inspiring, hardworking and caring owner; lovely, welcoming, and dedicated staff.
Everything was amazing!
