I don't like anything in there
Nothink to like in the raid
Overall, the stay at Riad Assala was fantastic, the team was very charming, friendly, helpful and ready to provide us with any needs. The Riad was a little difficult to locate at first, but this is common with most Riads located in the Medina souk. Once settled, we had an amazing and so comfortable time. One of the best places We've stayed at!
Location is quite difficult to find as the souk area is very labyrinth like, but don't be put off by this. Staying within the Medina souk is still the best place to be whilst in Marrakech
Good location, 10 min from main sq if you don't stop to shop! Nice authentic decor! Good breakfast, served on the roof terrace. Friendly staff who go out of their way to make your stay feel like 'home from home'.
Not able to pay by credit card, which we were not told at the booking stage, so take enough cash! We were 3 adults sharing a room, the extra beds not great!
Pool, roof terraces and breakfast on roof terrace. Good breakfasts. Excellent sized bedroom and bathroom.
The room above front entrance door a bit noisy.
The room was big and had everything we needed. A nice bathroom, a big bed and enough space for our luggage. The breakfast was freshly made every morning. The staff did their best to make it comfortable, even though we had to deal with a languagebarrier (their English was poor and our French is really bad).
The bed was quite unconfortable and waking up to the mosques at 5am wasn't great.
The decor was beautiful, staff very friendly and helpful. Lovely and peaceful. The pool is not big but charming, more to dip into not to swim. Very pleasant stay
Staff Location, Breakfast Courtyard
Swimming pool is too small Didn't take card payments Room was very dark
Really liked our room. Beautifully decorated, clean and cozy. The place is very charming and private. Good breakfast and internet signal ok in our room. The people who work there are very helpful and accommodating.
Very difficult place to find at first. Swimming pool wasn't very clean. No lock on the door.
Nice riad, in the heart of the Medina. Big and comfortable rooms. Breakfast fabulous
The staff is so kind but they dont speak English or Spanish, just French. Arrange a taxi in the same riad to arrive from the airport (15€) because is quite difficult find it the first time. The medina is like a maze
Helpful staff, security at night,
Can't lock bedroom when out for day.
Great shower and close to Djema and the souks
Where to begin. I think we should have realized what were in for when we discovered our bed (in the Nuptual Suite no less) was two single mattresses pushed together. Or perhaps the next morning, when our breakfast was a small cold omelet - between the two of us ☹ and some bad tepid coffee. This is a place where there doesn’t seem to be an actual proprietor in charge. The cat is definitely away and the mice are being about as slovenly as they can get away with. It has the feel of being taken advantage of by some lazy staff. Two women, who make more noise than I’ve ever experienced in a hotel. We were too often disturbed by them chatting loudly to each other from different rooms, crash banging about at all hours. Or sitting on a guests bed in a nearby room to make a loud personal phone call. Or blasting music, for their own entertainment not the guests, while in the kitchen, loud enough (and I do mean loud) to be heard the entire Riad. Then to have the gall to press a brown envelope into my partner’s hand at the end of the 12 nights expecting a tip was just enraging. We’re very easygoing people but by the end we were so unhappy and angry to have spent so much money on a place that allowed us no comfort or rest at all. It is such an unloved Riad and in turn the guests are too. Practically no English spoken and no care shown except when ‘the accountant’ as I called him, turned up twice to get money and then disappear again just as quickly. Class. The young man who picked us up from the taxi was lovely and did his best. There are no locks on the door, just bolts (no safe in the room or reception – actually there is no reception, or receptionist) You enter the Riad by LOUD doorbell. So EVERY time anyone arrives, the whole place has to hear about it. The doorbell rang all hours. People were locked out. One person ringing at 8am just gave up after about 10 increasingly desperate rings, the whole Riad was awake by then.
- friendly staff and owner - the day we arrived they made dinner at midnight
- food was the worst - internet worked only 25% of time - other guests are also frustrated with lack of facilities and comfort - very expensive food in the riad
