The road is up an alley that smells like a toilet. I had the room at the top and the bathroom was tiny. No ventilation or ac a part from a window that opened out onto a communal area.

Manager Hassan was very friendly and welcoming, very nice Moroccan breakfast prepared freshly by Hassan and his wife every morning, central location in the Medina only half hour walk to end of sandy beach where watersports rental and beach bars are

Honeymoon room we were in was quite bright in the mornings as the frosted windows did not have curtains, shower/bathroom was also quite crampt

The manager and his wife were very warm and friendly. Always greeting you with a smile and a friendly boujour. The Riad was beautiful with an excellent terrace with a good view. I would recommend this Riad to anyone.

Hassan was incredibly welcoming and met us straight off the bus from Marrakech which helped as the Riad can be difficult to find initially. It in a great location, only a few minutes walk from the main square and a number of delicious restaurants. The breakfast was by far the best we had throughout our whole time in Morocco - bread, jams, honey, yoghurt, msimen (moroccan pancakes), fresh pastries, fruit and omelette. Delicious!! Wifi was good and every evening we were greeted with mint tea and chilled in the communal living room - very nice atmosphere! We will definitely stay here again next time we are in Essaouira and thoroughly recommend it for a more personal and welcoming atmosphere!!

Great little Riad! Hassan was a fantastic host who made us feel very welcome, prepared a beautiful breakfast each day and recommended some great restaurants and activities. He also let us use the room until 2pm on the day we left as I was not feeling well. My only hesitation was that it was hard to find initially (down a side street with no sign) but once the guide took us there for first time (for a small tip) and we knew where we were going it was easy to locate and very central. We stayed in the honeymoon suite with the extra balcony so used that but also used the roof terrace which was lovely in the sun.

As it was with the sister riad, Dar Najat, in Marrakech, the service and the comfort of this riad were simply excellent. The breakfast was plentiful and we almost didn't need lunch. The riad is also very quiet with only 4 rooms and nicely ventilated so we slept very well in our comfortable, clean bed. We received help with making additional arrangement and everything went very smoothly. Absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to Essaouira on a smaller budget but looking for a great, clean, comfortable accommodation.

It is tucked away in the non-descript, smelly back alley so it can seem a bit dodgy. However during the day you will see the little kids, cats and neighborhood dog roaming around. And in the evening it is very well lit so you wouldn't feel it unsafe by any means.

The Riad is a good value for money - the room was comfortable and very clean, quiet and pleasant to stay in

The alley is quite small and it is difficult to find the place since there is no sign on the door. There isn't much natural light coming in.

This is my second time coming to riad bab Essaouria. It is very central and nicely presented with nice well maintained furniture and decoration. Breakfasts were excellent. There is a roof sun terrace which is great when not too windy. Hassan, the host, is the reason to choose this riad, with his friendly manner, good English and French, and the time and help he has made available.

Great Staff, very kind and available to serve.

Not enough privacy in the base floor room-studio. Not enough natural light inside.

Hassan was very nice and helpful. He picked us up at the parking and went on a half day trip with us to the argan cooperatives and showed us the region. The rooms are very nice and comfortable. There is no WiFi on the top room where we stayed but that's no big deal. There is a great view from the top terrace over the roofs of the medina! Breakfast was very good.

Great little Riad that had such a lovely homely feel to it and incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. Felt like we were staying at someones house, authentic Moroccan experience! Hassan met us at the bus station and arranged for our tickets back to Marrakech too. Had 3 lovely nights here in November and cannot recommend it enough. Its also just off one of the main shopping streets and near restaurants, and although the kids bang drums in the street outside it is very quiet in the building and seems hidden away from everything.

A riad is simply a building, a small hotel. There are thousands all across Morocco. What makes a riad special is the staff and the management. Hassan and Hafida are the heart and soul of this riad and that's what makes it such a wonderful place to stay. From the beautiful, leisurely breakfasts to the friendliness, warmth and genuine care shown to visitors, you simply cannot fault this riad. We felt like we were part of the household and we were treated with such genuine care right up to the moment we left after our nine day stay. Even the sandwiches made for our bus journey back to Marrakech were delicious! Thank you Hassan, thank you Hafida for a lovely holiday.

Great location in Essaouira. Hassan was always helpful and available. As friendly and relaxed as the town of Essouira itself. Perfect for us! Hafida made a lovely breakfast, ready no matter when we decided to get out of bed. 1 min walk from the main pedestrian street. Very quite and cool place. Like staying at someone's home!
