Not bad, but not the best riad we stayed at
1. Luxury facilities 2. Excellent location 3. Helpful & friendly staff 4. Excellent high tech heating 5. Roof top terrace 6. Can choose your own time for breakfast/dinner 7. Riad organised driver pick-up to and from airport
1. More staff that speak English 2. More choice at breakfast, including a warm selection 3. Need English satellite TV stations
Staff was lovely and helpful, hotel was clean and allowed us to stay for late checkout.
A bit difficult to find tucked away in an alley but likely most places in the Medina are similar.
Riad was home from home. Right from the start all the staff couldn't do enough and were so hospitable. Fouzia was fab in sharing her vast knowledge to help us. Nothing was too much trouble. Karim was so attentive really excelling in making our stay as special as he could and never too far away to call on. The owner was also welcoming which was lovely and invited us to a complimentary dinner as well as a suite upgrade. Food was exceptional, so clean an well maintained. Jacuzzi was just the thing after a hard day bartering at the souks. Really can't find a fault. Would recommend highly. Tip. Eat breakfast on the rooftop - not too miss.
Nothing apart from the reality of the return journey home
Stayed in the king suite (first night of honeymoon, worth the splurge) and I would change absolutely nothing about our choice. The staff was incredible and welcoming, the riad was gorgeous, comfortable and well located, and they suggested a dinner for us that was a highlight of the trip (Al Fassia... Go!!). Just steps away from the main square in Marrakech, would absolutely stay again if we make it back to this part of the world.
Nothing. This was one of more expensive riad choices, but it was worth every single cent.
Staff were nice and helpful. This is the best riad in the medina, very clean, quiet and peaceful (I stayed 4 riads in this trip)
Liked the location, because it was close to the square. Cleanliness. I liked that it had a terrace with a hot tub.
I didn't like the breakfast (only bread and tea!) I had to ask for eggs. The location because taxis could not come to the narrow streets (also bad for club purposes). Wifi is completely down at night without any receptionist in sight
Huge top-floor room, central location, fabulous roof terrace.
The dark greys and browns of the inside of the Riad; design-wise, this lacks the light and attention to detail of my favourite Roads.
After a very long day travelling we arrived late at the Riad and were greeted by Sayeed (one of the workers). Although we struggled to speak Arabic and French we managed to communicate as best as we could. Sayeed was so very helpful and was always smiling. He took us to our room, which appeared much bigger and superior than what we thought we had booked. He made sure we were taken care of at all times and we thoroughly enjoyed his presence. We will miss his laughter and smiling!! The following day we then greeted by who we think was the manager (I think her name was Fusra - sorry if this is wrong). She was extremely helpful and informed us that we were given a free room upgrade since it was our first time in Marrakesh. She gave us lots of information regarding things to do and prices to pay etc. We had lunch at the Riad one day which was made by Fusra - it was one of the best meals we had ever tasted. Definitely allow her to cook for you at least once! Our room was huge with a massive bed and a wonderful bathroom. The whole Riad was very clean and the spa on the roof was so refreshing and you can relax on the luxurious sun loungers. We met the owner on our third and final day, who was keen to make sure our stay was good and provided us with information regrading Marrakesh and the Riad. The staff at this Riad are truly wonderful people. It is so relaxed and peaceful yet so close to the main square (5 minute walk). The place is clean and the hot tub is refreshing after lying in the sun on the sun loungers. Our room was amazing and I wish we could have stayed in the Riad for longer! You can also get massages in your room or go to the small hammam for a traditional experience! Thank you all for a great stay and wonderful experience!! You made it special!!
Some of the other rooms looked slightly small - which may have been what we initially booked. However, we were upgraded to an amazing suite, with a huge bed and bathroom and therefore did not experience the potentially smaller room. Having to leave the Riad was our main issue!
The staff are delightful and attentive. The rooms are very good, the wifi reliable and fast, the breakfast on the roof terrace was memorable. We were given a room upgrade after the first night, which was very welcome. The location is very quiet but only a few minutes' walk from the main square and restaurants. We would certainly recommend Riad Carllian.
Great location, wonderful food, and great rooms. A perfect environment and atmosphere. The staffs attitude about everything was "as you like it."
Ambience Staff Attitude, always willing to help. Massage and Hamam Helpful in arranging excursions
Close to main square but as taxi's are not allowed to enter square in evening, we had to walk all the way from taxi stand (outside of square) to riad...
Location is excellent, close to the famous square Jemaa el-Fna, but also quiet. Staff was excellent. Very good facilities and extremely clean
Breakfast was very good, but it was the same every morning
STAFF LOCATION CLEANLINESS WI-FI PRICE BREAKFAST COMFORTABLE ROOM AND BEDS
THERE IS NO SWIMMING POOL, BUT A SMALL JACUZZI
Great location, nice staff.
Need an additional English speaker perhaps.
The team and the location are excelent.
The room is very good, but the privacy is minor; it is quite difficult to have the window open without exposing the whole room.
Our first trip to Marrkesch. Arriving just before midnight in our RIAD Carllian. The taxi drops you just in front of old city/Medina, where a suitcase carrier looking like a monk takes your luggage and guides you through the first part of the Medina labyrinth. We had a lovely welcome, although it was very late at night. The Riad Carllian really imprest us from the first moment by the kindness of their service people as well as from the inner architecture. We had a wonderful suite on the last floor of the Riad which was very clean, spacy and light. The bed was comfortable to sleep in and the shower had a good water rinse. Breakfast on the roof top was amazing with a beautiful view to the Atlas mountains. The food for breakfast was traditional with continental European touch – very delicious. The RIAD even asked an english speaking woman, her name was Fouzia, to work during the days we stayed in the RIAD as we were not so fluent in the French language. Fouzia was of great help for us while planning our three days and always translated into French when necessary. She and also the general manager, Franck, made our stay outstanding. We have already recommended this RIAD and will always do!
The staff were all great and very helpful and always checked if we needed anything.
I THOUGHT THE STAFF WAS OVER AND ABOVE ANYTHING i EXPECTED.Examples: The owner hired an English speaker for the duration of my stay and then sent her to the airport with me when it was time for me to leave. He instructed her to have the taxi wait until she saw me checked in and prepared to board. He couldn't have hired a better ambassador than Fouzia, who was so kind and helpful. And the COOKING.: it was the best food I had in Morocco and I'd been all over the country. I kept asking the cook, Halima, where she had studied cooking and her answer was always, "From my mother." She kept baking cookies for me and sending fresh-squeezed orange juice. Her tagine was magical. The accommodations were beautiful. the house had been remodeled using lovely modern bath room fixtures and modern furniture, and TV, AC, etc. The structure had been left intact except for fixing where needed: painting, new flooring, etc. It was the only riad I had stayed in where the center court yard was open to the sky and the atrium pool actually was filled with water. There are two large outdoor patios, with outdoor furniture, both with views of the city and mosque. You can breakfast here. The location is perfect: right in the medina. Getting there is to experience old Morocco. If you have a chance, don't miss a stay at this riad!
The fact that I couldn't stay longer. Perhaps some of the rooms are a bit small, but the furniture has been cleverly fitted so a guest can easily move around. If you like staying at riads(small hotels, usually remodeled large houses)or think you might, this place would be a wonderful experience in itself
We enjoyed our stay. This is an excellent place to be. We want to thank the staff. Everybody was very kind and helpful. Especially, Fouzia who speaks not only French but also English, was very supportive. She gave us many hints and advices. We will recommend this Riad to everyone and hopefully can return soon.
We spent three days at the riad and everything was perfect. The location was perfect, close to the main square but very quiet, the breakfast on the terrace with an amazing views to Atlas, the delicious food that one day we took there, in short, everything was perfect. But if I have to point out something was the friendliness of the people working there, always attentive to help us with restaurant reservations, giving us information about the city, whatever we needed, especially Fouzia (I hope I have written well), she helped us with a delicacy and affection that made us feel at home. We hope to return soon.
A couple of hangers in the bathroom for towels
Very friendly and helpful staff. We were welcomed by Fouzia who made us very comfortable and helped us to find our way around. She and the staff were absolutely brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Our room was excellent with a terrace outside with sunbeds and a jacuzzi. I would also add that the bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in on holiday. Breakfasts were served to us on the upper terrace with terrific views of the city. Lovely breakfast with plenty to eat. We ate in on a couple of evenings and the food was without fault. Beautiful tagines and very reasonable prices. We would not hesitate to return. The Hamman and massage were wonderful. I just wished I had had them on day one as I would certainly have booked in again.
There is nothing we can fault from the well appointed, large room, furnished beautifully, good wifi, delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner to the great Massage. It is definitely a place where you would want to spend more time. Next time
Riad Carllian is a small palace inside the Medina at Marrakech very close to the famous Jamaa el Fna place. A very well decorated hotel between modern and contemporary style. We had the possibility to visit 4 of the 6 wonderful rooms. Each one had is specific design and colors. The personalized attention given by the staff (Said 1 and 2 -Halima-Nadia and Fathia) was remarkable and makes you feel at home there. The diner cooked by Halima was tasty and excellent. My wife and I had a peeling and a massage that was very relaxing. We have no doubt that we will come back to stay again at Riad Carllian for a longer stay. There is nothing to dislike at the Riad Carllian. It is simply marvelous.
