Riad Chakir Mogador  

Det er så hyggeligt og helt igennem oprindeligt. Det er usædvanlige sødt personale. De er meget hjælpsomme og det er ikke sidste gang vi har lyst til at være der. Det var utroligt centralt og dejligt fredligt sted. Fin morgenmad efter marrokansk forhold. Der er normalt ikke mad om aften, men trods det skaffede de det og dækkede den mest romantiske bord. Det er som at være hjemme at være der.

Good Location and friendly reception

The room, avoid no 17, the room smelled of damp and the bed was extremely uncomfortable.

The beds,location,staff and the breakfasts were wonderful. This Riad consists of 3 homes and the variety of rooms and decorations are beautiful.

The washrooms could be improved by placing water pushers to push the water from the shower to the drain so as not to get the whole floor wet.

Pretty riad in the town centre. The room was large and clean, the staff lovely and helpful and the breakfast sumptuous.

You do not believe what pearls you can discover in the hearth of town, called Essaouira! Riad is excellent place to relax and to discover medieval city.

Too much light at night - couldn't black out windows. (A bit of street noise, but this is to be expected in the city.)

Very difficult to find. Bhreakfast was ok but no choice. The bedroom was dark and cluttered. Parking is outside the walls of the Medina.

Scrupulously honest and friendly, this Riad represents a welcome continnued throughout this lovely coastal town. Practice your French to the amusement of the helpful staff before strolling the short distance to the main promenade wearing the smile generated at Le Riad Chakir. Breakfast is the only disappointment

We loved the style, individuality and qualtiy of the accomodation, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfasts were good, and we felt very welcome there.

It would have been nice with some heating in the room, which get a bit damp and chilly during the cool january nights.

Good position inside the old Medina, simple to reach from the main street. The staff is very kind and rooms are clean.

Rooms are pretty dark, because they face on the inner courtyard, which is not open to the air, but has a roof. We travelled during Winter time, so the room was a bit wet too, but I guess this won't be a problem in the hot season.

Service was really good Location in relation to the beach and port is excellent. Rooms and bedding are clean

As Riads go, there is not much to dislike.

great location just a few minutes walk from coach stop, everything close by, room was lovely..also gave us one of most memorable moments of our holiday when we were joined by the riad resident cat at 4.30am!!!! she slept with us the rest of the night

Terrace could be made more pleasant area to sit

The staff were very helpful and solicitous. The riad was well-positioned for exploring Essaouira.

We chose, after lengthy comparison with other accommodation in Essaouira, this riad because of the room facilities described on Booking.com. I booked four nights in the Chakir suite. However, immediately on seeing the room, I realised that much of the description was fiction! This is the room description from Booking.com, presumably supplied by the riad. "Room Facilities This suite has... Tea and coffee making facilities; electric Kettle.” It did not, although we were brought a kettle when we asked. Then we had to ask for cups “Patio, Terrace” – there was no patio and no terrace. “Minibar, Refrigerator” – there was no minibar and no frig. “Free toiletries” – the only “toiletries” were 3 bars of soap. “Toilet, Bathroom, Additional Toilet” – only a shower, not a bathroom and no additional toilet. “Seating Area, Dining Area” – there was a seating areas but no dining area. When I booked, the room description also included “washing machine”, but this has now been removed from the Booking.com description. There was no washing machine. The (very pleasant) man to whom I expressed my disappointment said that some of the descriptions were hotel, not room, facilities - eg patio, terrace. But this is not what the description stated. The suite was very dark (I know this is not uncommon in riads, but that’s why we wanted a patio and terrace as per the description). The rooms had, in my opinion, a musty smell and a damp feel. The bed sheet had the texture (no exaggeration!) of fine sandpaper, although well-laundered sandpaper! The wifi reception was good. The breakfast was basic. The toilet by the dining area was not very clean. We were woken at 2.30 a.m. by someone having a very loud conversation on his mobile in the internal courtyard below our room – obviously not the riad’s fault. We only stayed the one night and moved, via a Booking.com reservation, to the excellent Residence La Galiote, where everything was as described!

Quite noisy - only window opens onto internal courtyard though this is typical in a Riad. Room temperature was OK in November but expect it could get quite hot in summer.

Traditional style riad with good location in the medina - short walk to cafes, restaurants, the beach and the port. Friendly staff able to gie advice on local activities - surfing etc.

Not a dislike but taxis/cars aren't allowed into the medina so you will need to carry you luggage or have change to pay for a barrow boy to take it for you.

The staff, breakfast (fresh juice), and great showers!

The staff were outstanding. My girlfriend had food poisoning for the majority of our stay and the care and concern expressed by the staff at the Riad was exceptional. They provided medication, made special breakfasts and provided me with tupperware so I could bring soup back to the room for her to eat for dinner. They also made some excellent recommendations.

Excellent value, fantastic location, friendly staff, very clean and comfortable room.

Maybe the roof garden could be better but not much of a problem as its easy to get to beach etc

Our 2nd visit to this beautiful authentic riad, fab, central location. Nadia was so warm and welcoming, always smiling and cheerful as was le patron who is most charming and delightful.

Staff were fantastic, genuine people who did their utmost to help us. Good location, great breakfast and help finding our way to places, they even served my breakfast at 4am because I was fasting for Ramadan!
