Building. Location. Wifi. Breakfast
The staff at the Riad Dar Alfarah is incredibly helpful and kind.
-very friendly and helpful staff; -beautiful courtyard and roof terrace; -the room is spacious and nice decorated.
-not easy to find; -WiFi was only available and very weak around the pool area, not in the rooms or anywhere else as advertised; -poor breakfast, only sweets.
The room was extremely spacious and the bed was to die for. It was clean and tidy and situated in a good location .
Staff could of been a little more intimate based on the amount of visitors there. Breakfast was a bit sparse.
Lovely staff, very helpful and accommodating. Beautiful riad and good food. Location excellent - nice quiet area, but only 10-15mins walk from the main square - D'jemma el f'na - and just round the corner from the Bahia Palace and the Saadian Tombs. Organised a hammam spa session and a day trip to the Atlas mountains through the hotel staff as well, which made life easier. Fantastic place to stay, highly recommend it.
Lovely rooms and great pool Best tagines of the week for first meal
Location down side streets which scared the kids a bit first night ...but in reality very safe
The personnel (the boss) is not friendly. Bad service........
We booked this Riad at very short notice. We had a driver collect us from the airport. Riad is situated in the Kasbah and close to the main square where all the action is. Effortless service, very kind and accommodating staff.
The only minor concern were the cats that kept pestering us while we were eating. We did arrive very late in the evening, I guess the cats were making us feel at home.
Within walking distance of everywhere in the Medina. Very relaxing atmosphere. Aziz & Hazna facilitated every request and made the stay very friendly and welcoming. The room was serviced and cleaned every day. Breakfast was slightly different each day.
Wifi was occasionally available depending on where you sat. The Riad was not able to accept my card for payment at the end of one week which resulted in me having to find at atm on two separate days as I had to pay in cash. The owners did not speak English which made some communication very difficult. Normal conversation with other guests was not welcomed after 10pm as the noise travelled to all other bedrooms.
Such a beautiful and comfortable place to say, and just a 10min stroll from 'La Place' . Very friendly and accommodating staff, the pool was a great bonus, a refreshing dip was perfect after a day exploring this magical city. Our room (a superior double) was extremely well appointed, with huge and comfortable bed.....and limitless hot water for the shower. Florence even offered to look after our luggage for us when we returned to Marrakesh from Essaouira and had a long wait for our flight....they could not have been more helpful! Highly recommend.
Cannot think of any way to improve this place!
Beautiful riad with a little pool and a friendly house cat. I inhabited a nice, clean and spacious room with a comfortable bed and a lovely bathroom. The staff was very helpful, in particular Azez who seemed to be always present and arranged a wonderful trip for me to Ourika. Breakfast on the roof was always fresh and tasty. The dinner I ordered one night served with an excellent Morrocan wine was delicious. A perfect place to stay in the Medina, a real oasis with relaxed, familiar atmosphere within walking distance to the most points of interest.
Sometimes no W-Lan available, but not really a problem for me.
Ideally located. About a 10-15 min walk to Djemma el Fna, right around the cornea from Palais Badia, and a fair taxi cab ride from the train station. A Petit Taxi station is right around the bend should you need to travel somewhere requiring further distance. Workers at the Riad are extraordinarily hospitable.
Wifi could be a tad stronger. Found it to be one bar in strength where my room was located. Made browsing a tad slow. Rooms tend to get a bit warm, especially after using the shower. These are minor quibbles however.
The friendly cat always jumps onto customer's lap.
Full breakfast is not available for early traveler.
Stayed in a family suite with masses of space and privacy
Needed a mini fridge for cold drinks etc
Pool, terrace, breakfast (on the terrace), spacious and beautiful rooms, clean tasteful décor.
Card machine didn't work when trying to pay so had to pay with cash, very annoying.
the family suite is superb, with its own terrace, comfortable and cool sleeping areas, lovely bathroom. A perfect place to stay in the Medina. Breakfast on the roof is excellent.
We like almost everything
City Tax not included in price and worse thing is, it is charged when we wanted to checkout as we have already spent all local currency
Helpful people, great (!) breakfast and room nr 10 is a palace with a terrace. Great pool for the kids.
Nothing negative to mention.
Friendly and helpful staff, nothing was too much trouble. The map provided by the Riad was a great starting point for places of interest and recommendations of where to eat for all budgets. The room was large, clean and authentically decorated. Our room was just off the pool. The Riad had a kitten and it's mother, who were friendly and entertaining! Overall, a very enjoyable stay and we would highly recommend it!
If we had to make a criticism it would be that wifi was only available in communal areas. However as there were so many communal spaces this was not a problem. Lack of wifi in rooms was due to the Riad being an old building with thick stone walls and character, an easy compromise for us!
Beautiful old riad in the Kasbah, so great central space to stay
Badly laid out with most of the rooms on the ground floor around the swimming pool. Breakfast and meals also served around the pool in front of other people's open bedroom windows (on cheap, noisy metal tables and chairs). The two French women who run (own?) the business don't seem to care about anything other than booking trips and taxis so they can get their commission. Got the impression they are bored to death with the riad and treat it as a tiresome 10am to 6pm job, with guests creating continual petty annoyances for them. One of them never speaks. Outside these times, the running of the riad is left to the overburdened (although very helpful) night porter. He also serves breakfast single handly, which is truly, truly AWFUL - stale bread, congealed jam and a bowl of coffee (a grotty French motorway café would be ashamed to serve this). Lovely bedroom, but not much privacy and also a bad smell in drains in the bathroom. There are far better riad experiences to be had in Marakesh. Overpriced
Pool filter broke when we were there which was disappointing.
Water could have been provided as complimentary especially when so hot and not a budget hotel. These small things make all the difference
The setting was beautiful - calm and relaxing oasis in the heart of a busy and frantic city. The staff were lovely, and the food totally excellent. It was a perfect start to our holiday in Morocco. We only stayed 3 nights, before moving on to the Mountains for the rest of our holiday, but I would love to return.
There was nothing about the Riad that we didn't like.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Always available to give advice and recommend restaurants etc etc. fantastic breakfast. Amazing shower and bathroom, really Morrovan and very clean. Thoroughly recommend
The staff was extremely helpful and was very accommodating with organizing drivers and activities while my family and I were in Morocco.
The WiFi only works in the public areas and there is not WiFi in the rooms. This was more of a simple inconvenience and not a huge complaint. The WiFi was quick and worked well when you were in the designated areas.
The Riad was in a great location, in walking distance of all the sites. It was beautifully presented and well equipped.
WiFi was only available and very weak around the pool area, not in the rooms or anywhere else as advertised. We found the day staff to be uncommunicative and didn't even realise, as we weren't informed that meals could be requested. The bedside lamp blew a bulb and instead of changing it, they just removed the lamp from the room so I couldn't read at night. The toilet intermittently stopped flushing. Normally these things wouldn't worry me, but we paid a great deal more at this Riad than we had elsewhere and the service was pretty woeful.
