Staff were friendly. Breakfast on the roof terrace was great. Rooms had a great Moroccan feel. Really liked the location, felt like we truly experienced the medina. If you want a drink, staff will go out and get it for you, as we only found it in certain restaurants. Wifi is free. Overall a great experience. Staff also arranged our airport taxi which I would highly recommend as you would be unlikely to find the riad without guidance, even if you used a map
The location is perfect, a place of tranquility in the medina. Room (on terrace) is comfortable and has good air conditioning. Great wifi.
Well-located, nice staff. Really great breakfast.
Rooms were OK. Electricity went out at one point for almost an hour (early AM). Difficult to find.
Good location in medina, very quiet, nice and clean rooms. One of the best roof therasis we visited. Very friendly owner.
Friendly staff 2 minutes to Jemaa el Fna by car, walking 10-15 min
Location was central to the markets and the city centre. The staff were very empathetic and nice to my friend who bought fake Moroccan tea. They gave him real Moroccan tea from the Riad instead.
The towels were dirty - I had a hole in my towel. The robes provided were also stained and had holes in them. My friend also drank orange juice from a glass with mould in it. The breakfast was meant to consist of fresh fruits and Moroccan delights, but all we got was stale bread. Also, the hot water system was not sufficient for the whole Riad, as only one of my friends managed to have a decent hot shower.
The staff couldn't be better, and the riad itself retains a great deal of its integrity from it's pre-hotel life. In all, a very dignified approach to maintaining a historic structure.
While it's not easy to convey directions in the labyrinth of back streets where Riad Dar Ftouma is located, this is exactly why it would be helpful to have a handy map on the web site to help travelers find the place. I was traveling solo (perhaps unusual) and not using an airport transfer (perhaps also unusual) and had some trouble finding the riad on foot.
The location was fantastic and very central for visiting the Medina. The owner was very friendly and extremely helpful. The breakfast was also nice and the price great!
The bedroom was not great as it was on the ground floor and quite damp smelling and musty. As well as this the beds were not comfortable and rock hard.
Friendly and helpful staff. Quiet atmosphere. Very relaxing place.
Almost impossible to find without a guide!
Entourage, breakfast, view from the terrace
Doors of the room wouldn't fully close, rooms on the ground floor don't give much privacy. Bit far walking from center.
The service was great. They were very kind and brought us tea to welcome us. It's also a very beautiful Riad--we felt like we were in a palace. And it's a good price!
This Riad is a true gem in the medina of Marrakech. It is small, and simple but the staff made our stay truely amazing. The 3 sisters: Souad, Mina and Donya are the loveliest women you will ever meet. They are kind, and really move mountains to make your stay more pleasent. Even though the Riad is not luxurious, the price-quality is great. The breakfast included is made freshly, and you can ask for tea anytime, free of charge. Even when a glass of wine might seem difficult to get in Marrakech, when asking the sisters, they went out and got it for us. With complementary fresh savories to make sure we enjoy our stay.If you are looking for a great location, perfect service and cheap alternative, this is the place to go. We wish we could've hang out with the sisters more, and we truly can't wait to see them again when visiting Marrakech.
If you are open minded, knowing you are going to Marrakech, you will love this place. Every Riad can be a bit noisy, but the shower, room, location and service make more than up for this!
Beautifully decorated riad with friendly, helpful staff. Wonderfully peaceful. Our shower was fantastic! We stayed in low season, but we got the impression that it could be very sociable if it was busier. Easier to find than some (But it's all relative) Location right on the edge of the souks, just off a relatively large road. Fairly close to Jemaa El Fna: short walk through the souks (providing you have the navigation skills of a GPS-enabled albatross) or a slightly easier, but less direct, stroll along a larger road (pavements all the way.) Thank you so much for a magical stay!
Very few negatives. Our room didn't feel 110% private, but it is worth stressing that this was not massively so. Our double bed was comprised of 2 singles of different squishiness, which made shuffling around an interesting experience. Again, this did nothing to seriously detract from our stay.
Great location, a couple of minutes walk from Jemma El-Fna and the Souks. Run by 3 friendly sisters - we had a wonderful stay!
friendly, helpful staff, great location
the third single bed in our room was uncomfortable - but ok.
Good looking property in a fairly good location with easy access to the medina.
We stayed in the Marrakech room and dirt was falling through the season all night. We woke up to find dirt and plaster in our bed. the staff were not very apologetic but they did change us to a bigger room where there was a leak in the bathroom.
