Very friendly staff! Fresh and the most delicious breakfast we had in our one month holiday in Morocco. The riad is in a quiet and easy to find street. Our taxi driver dropped us off at the top of the street and it was a 50m ( straight ) walk to the riad door. We highly recommend Riad Dar Skalli for your stay in Fez.
you won't find nicer staff than Hind and her team!
Big family room Big patio with speaking parrot Roof terras In medina Great diner at home
Beautiful building and room. Good location.
Breakfast was not amazing. Bread and cookies were a little bit dry.
The staff was terrific. Sweet and always wonderfully accodating.
The Dinner was amazing, even better than any Restaurants we sampled in Fes. The day before we had dinner at the Riad, we went to a place recommended by the Manager (and one of the staff walked us there), and that was really really good, so we were pleasantly surprised when dinner in the Riad was even better. The staff in this hotel were the friendliest we experienced on our 5-hotel jaunt across Morocco. Good aircon. Lovely decor (especially the bathroom).
Karim and his wife are both lovely and very helpful. The staff are so friendly. The whole place is comfy and the rooftop terrace is a great spot to enjoy some afternoon sunshine and a nice breeze. My daughter did the cooking class (in French) and thought it was lots of fun. Its an easy place to find - from Place Batha take the first street on the right after the fountain, then the first on the left and about 100 metres down the slope. Easy to find good places to eat at the Blue Gate nearby - go down the street on the left of the post office in Place Batha.
Nothing to say here
The riad is georgeous, it is like a small palace. The room was very clean, it had a nice terrace. The stuff was helpful and friendly, we liked the breakfast as well. The location is also very good, it is close to the Bab Boujloud. We liked everything except for the way they treated the lovely talking perrot they have. I really recommend this riad, especially for perrot lovers.
I realised only the first morning that there should be a perrot somewhere, because I heard his voice, but I couldn't see him. Then I found him shut in a dark room without any windows or light, next to the court. I told the nice maid to please bring him out and please give him fresh water. Then we went for a day trip and came back around 6pm. He was already shut in the very dark room, because he was talking too much, as I got to know from the owner. It means that when we were there the perrot spent minimum 14 hours in the dark room. It is a lovely african grey perrot,a very intelligent and kind one who likes to be caressed. If you go to this riad, please ask for the perrot to be brought out. Maybe the owners realise that he is an important part of their beautiful riad and all the guests like him.
very good！eveeything is perfect！the boss is kind！
Very nice welcome, spacious rooms, location, great value for money
Hard to find (no signs on the street), and weak lighting in the rooms (but that's very minor)
Very beautiful inside, nice staff, good breakfast and dinner, funny talking parrot, awesome view from the roof top terrace, good recommendations about trips - take the lunch box from the bakery they are working with! I enjoyed.
In the rooms one can gear quite a bit of the noise from the patio but in Morocco you'll always hear the Muezzins, so it doesn't make such a big difference.
Breakfast was pretty standard and definitely not the best we have had in Morocco, but we ate both lunch and dinner at the Riad and it was amazing. The Riad catered for all our needs, including my vegetarian daughter. Their vast range of Moroccan salads were to die for. Beautiful decor throughout, was like walking through a small museum, with interesting artifacts and paintings everywhere.
Beautiful building, excellent staff, large room, great rooftop terrace views.
After we were robbed in the medina and had to cut our trip short, management refused to refund us for the second night after we had just paid them two hours earlier. Very unsafe neighborhood. Toilet bowl brush was filthy. Breakfast was pretentious and not good.
The best experience in Riad in my life:)
The Riad is conveniently located in the Medina. It is just 50 meters away from the spot where cars are allowed to drive. If you are in Fes for the first time, it's worth it to have the hotel arrange a taxi to pick you up. It's not easy for first-timers to find anything in the labyrinth of the Medina, even if it's just 50 meters away! :-) The owner Karim and the manager Hind are very friendly and helpful. They can give you lots of information and help you to arrange your trip both inside or outside Fes. Breakfast is very generous. The staff, even though some of them only speaks very little French, are all very friendly and they try to help. There is a parrot in the riad. He can speak lots of French words. Very funny! Bird lovers would love to stay here!
However, be careful with the restaurant that they recommend! On the day when I first arrived, I was tired and didn't want to bother finding my way in the labyrinth of Medina. So the staff brought me to a restaurant nearby. Later I realized that I ended up paying 5 times more than in regular restaurants in the Medina! Bab Boujloud is just a few minutes walk away. There are tons of restaurants there. Even if you just arrive and are being lazy, don't let them bring you to that restaurant, unless you don't mind paying the hefty price. Ask them how to get to Bab Boujloud instead. If you want the riad to call a tour guide for you, make sure they ask the agency NOT to send a guy named Hastin. He is a man with glasses in his 50's (in case there are more than one "Hastin"). He's a very bad guide! I paid 400 Dirhams for a "full day tour". He finished it in just 3 hours, during which he brought me to visit 5 shops! Then he acted pissed off when I didn't buy anything, accusing me for not "supporting the community". He didn't give me any explanations when we were visiting important sights, such as the madrassa. He just told me to go in by myself and he waited for me outside. Then he purposely walked very fast in the labyrinth to leave me behind, as a "punishment" for me not buying anything in those shops. Extremely unprofessional!
The road is very beautiful obviously led and decorated with love. The view from the upstairs terrace is amazing. The dinner we had at dar skalli was the best on our trip yet. The staff is polite and very friendly. The owner karim is friendly and very helpful.
Super helpful and friendly staff, and wonderful food!
Excellent location with a very authentic Moroccan experience. Very unusual room, with exceptionally high ceiling and mezzanine bathroom. Beautiful riad. Welcoming staff. Excellent breakfast. Amazing roof terrace.
Location is very close from interesting area. Decoration is good.
Our room was on upper floor nd it was very difficult to arrive using labirents!!
location is good, staff were helpful
The owner was not very friendly and was rude to some extent about a minor matter of toilet paper.
Location, friendly staff, a safe place in medina.
The room was cold, the ac was not enough to warm the room because of the high ceiling.
rooms are excellent. The food at the hotel too.
You have to pay everything in cash in local currency
Breakfast food was great. Rooms and bathroom are spacious.
No receptionist to open the door (watch out not be locked out for a while if you are first arriving late) or management person in the am to help with enquiries. Breakfast can take a long time because there are not enough tables for all guests and just one waiter.
Lovely breakfast. The helpfull hademasterand the friendly stuff.
everything was OK
