The staff were very helpful. Location is great
Spacious, downstairs studio in the Riad was good when you're travelling with group of people (2 double beds plus 2 singles). Nice roof/terrace on the top, where you can rest after day out. Tasty breakfast each morning served by friendly staff. Good location, close to the Souks; great restaurant nearby the Riad - amazingly good food, great atmosphere inside.
quite dark inside the Riad, no windows and therefore not fresh air comes throught
Room was peaceful and pretty. Staff pleasant.
No WiFi in rooms Slow drainage
A very friendly and spacious riad, close to all the sights and streets of essaouira! Owner is super friendly, we were greeted with freshly squeezed orange juice, and she was very attentive and helpful throughout our stay! Spacious rooms and nice roof terrace.
Great location, large and comfy room. Bathroom was also sufficient. Wifi worked in the room which was a bonus. Staff on arrival were friendly and breakfast was served when requested and was yum. Rooftop terrace was nice to enjoy the sunshine.
The staff were lovely and friendly to us, was a lovely room, clean, wifi was excellent, even managed to skype home! Could have breakfast at any time we asked. Even with some of the problems I would recommend this place to others because it felt lovely and homely, and everything was excellent aside from arrival.
We walked right past the door several times! Then all lights were off, had to wait in the Riad opposite for someone to come to the door. Then our bed wasn't made in the room we had booked, and there were no other customers in the riad! (maybe because low season). but once everything was done it was lovely.
Riad Darko is a very nice place, well located in the heart of the medina. Thanks to Khadija and Latifah for their reception.
Beware - mould! The only ventilation to the rooms is to the central inner yard of the riad - which had unwisely been blocked off by building a glass ceiling. This meant no ventilation and a very strong smell of mould everywhere. I even had furry white mould growing on my bathroom walls. Not nice and definitely not good for the health! The staff were lovely and I purposefully put my review of the place low even where it should have been higher (E.G. location was great) because I don't want to recommend a place to anyone that's a potential health hazard.
Lady which accepted us was very friendly and warm. It felt like being at home.
We loved the fact we were the only ones in the riad! it was low tourist season. Breakfast was so filling on the roof in the sun with the sound of the guls and the sea. lovely big blue bathroom. Siham was very kind and had a sweet smile. The Mellah is a beautiful quarter and the riad is positionned in a Darko street just round the corner from a beautiful littel square with 2 delicious looking restaurants.
the xmas tree in late january
Very friendly staff, very clean rooms, and a nice terrace!
Pretty nice bedroom and shower.
We sprang for the "suite" which turned out to be the ground floor of the riad, meaning the other guests could look down on "our" space, and the staff had to pass back and forth through "our" space to access their office. Add to that a very over-priced meal and a high tax, and the final bill was shockingly high for a rather unrestful stay.
Nice room, good hot shower, good breakfast.
Room was a little bit damp but had a heater on so not too big a deal.
My boyfriend and I stayed in Essaouira for three nights. The riad is very well located close to the port. As we stayed in December, we were the only guests staying in the riad so it was very nice! Radija made a great breakfast every monring and was a great host. They had started renovating the rooms and the new decor is good. The terrace is beautiful but it was a bit cold at the time we stayed to enjoy it.
The interesting things in Essaouira are Medina and beach (from a short visit tourist perspective). so the Riad Darko is perfectly located, quiet and laid back like all Essaouira. The staff was very helpful and made an effort to make our stay nice. Beds were spacious, rooms clean... everything fine!
-really friendly and helpful staff -delicious breakfast (expecially the msemen made by Siham) served on the terrace -nice and clean rooms -relaxing and chill out environment -good location
